Vendor's license fee increasing in Ohio: Here's why
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Local business owners will notice an increased fee when applying for vendor's licenses.
Starting on April 9, the fee for vendor's licenses in the state of Ohio will increase from $25 to $50. The change comes as a result of Ohio House Bill 366, which was passed by Ohio legislators last year.
What is Issue 2 on Ohio's May 6 ballot?
This increase was approved as part of the state's effort to combat organized retail theft. The additional $25 will go directly to the newly established Organized Retail Theft Task Force, which will work to address retail theft in Ohio.
Vendor's licenses are required for anyone selling taxable goods and services in Ohio. These licenses help the Ohio Department of Taxation to administer the state sales tax.
Business owners must apply and pay for a vendor's license one time, when they begin their business endeavor. There is no annual renewal.
Those interested in a vendor's license can apply through the Ohio Business Gateway.

YouthWorks program returns, setting teens up for success
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A local summer program is hoping to keep teens busy and set them up for success. Montgomery County's YouthWorks program is back for its 26th year and those behind it are poised to break down barriers for area youth. The summer months is when YouthWorks ramps up their output in the community. Antonio Mobley, who works for the county says the program sees hundreds of teens sign up during this time. The program is for students between 14 and 18 years of age and provides them with various job opportunities. Students can gain experience in manufacturing, IT, communications and marketing, to name a few. The program also promises year-round support in the form of resume building, interview prep, job search and workplace tips. 'We want our youth when they come through the program just to say, you know, I see myself making a career out of this field and not just, oh, this is just some employment for the summer, and I can't wait to go back to school,' Mobley says. $1.8 million awarded to Dayton airport for runway rehab
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — More than $1.8 million in federal funds will go toward the Dayton International Airport. Congressman Mike Turner announced that $1,812,000 has been awarded to the James M. Cox Dayton International Airport (DAY). This funding is provided through the FAA's Airport Improvement Program. Funding will go toward refurbishing taxiway lighting at the Dayton Airport, as well as rehabilitate parts of the taxiway to minimize debris and to extend the life of the taxiway. 'This federal investment for Dayton International Airport underscores the critical role our airport plays in the economic impact to the Miami Valley region,' said Turner. 'The funding from the FAA will allow DAY to make the necessary renovations to extend the longevity of its taxiways for years to come.' Turner also announced $462,560 will go to the Greene County Lewis A.
