Vin Diesel has claims dismissed in sexual abuse lawsuit
Vin Diesel has succeeded in his bid to get a court to throw out four employment discrimination claims against him.
The Fast & Furious actor still faces allegations of sexual battery and wrongful termination brought by a former assistant.
Asta Jonasson sued Diesel in 2023, alleging he had pinned her against a wall in a hotel suite and performed a sex act in front of her.
The alleged incident occurred in 2010, which would ordinarily put it beyond the statute of limitations but in 2023, the Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act revived certain expired claims of sexual assault dating back to 2009.
In a ruling on Tuesday, a judge decreed that the law extending the statute of limitations did not apply to an administrative complaint. Therefore, he found that four of Jonasson's claims were barred by the statute of limitations.
Jonasson has also filed claims of retaliation, wrongful termination, sexual battery, negligent supervision and retention and infliction of emotional distress. None of those allegations were affected by the judge's order.
The Fast X star's lawyer adamantly denied the claims when they were first filed.
"There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations," he said at the time.

A Queens cop opened fire on a car thief barreling towards him as officers thwarted a luxury vehicles heist reminiscent of a 'Fast & Furious' movie, police said Friday. At least two people were in custody as cops sped off after five stolen luxury cars — mostly BMWs — the bandits had taken from an auto-detailing shop in Flushing, Queens, at about 5:30 a.m. Four out of the five stolen cars were recovered as police pursued the stolen vehicles across the borough and into the Bronx, a police source with knowledge of the case said. Cops raced to the shop on 33rd Ave. near Miller St. after receiving a 911 call of a burglary in progress. The burglars, cops were told, were armed. By the time cops arrived, the thieves had already boosted the cars and were making their escape. One of the thieves charged a responding officer, cops said. In response, the cop drew his weapon and fired off one shot at the approaching car, hitting no one. The stolen cars zipped off toward the nearby Whitestone Expressway as they made their escape, but they were quickly tracked down by cops. Charges against the two suspects in custody were pending Friday. The officer who fired off his weapon was taken to an area hospital for tinnitus, officials said. Cops are prohibited from opening fire on a fleeing vehicle except when the driver is about to strike an officer or someone else, or is about to plow into a crowd, officials said. In January, the NYPD clamped down on unnecessary dangerous police pursuits from routine car stops, ordering its officers to rely on 'advanced tools of modern-day policing' to track down and apprehend the suspects instead.

He continued' 'You need to take some energy… to get to the places where it's uncomfortable and where you try to figure out how to adapt, because that's something the young generation already does. Creators on the internet don't wait for a commissioner.' Käßbohrer runs the Cologne-based indie bildundtonfabrik with Matthias Murmann, with whom he created Netflix hit How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast). It now has its own studios in Cologne as well as a games division, out of Berlin. Having started out in music videos btf came to everyone's attention with the anarchic talkshow Roche and Böhmermann. 'It was a talk show for everybody who hates talk shows,' Käßbohrer said. The show was for what was then a newbie channel and market disruptor ZDFkultur. 'It was a cultural digital channel with not a lot of money, but a lot of freedom. They also kind of had the idea of disrupting the system.' Determined not to stay in one lane, Käßbohrer and btf then buddied up with another outfit looking to come into the German market and shake things up – Netflix. The streamer greenlit How To Sell Drugs Online (Fast), about a nerdy high schooler starting a drugs empire on the dark net. 'All the doors we knocked on, they stayed closed. And then suddenly there came this new player on the market, which was Netflix. And they also had this pretty similar idea of 'we have to enter the market, to show that we are here, to do something different'. And they were looking for people who also thought like that.' Speaking about the show he said: 'The pitch always was 'Breaking Bad in Silicon Valley'. We really wanted to make the show feel like a day in the life of a Gen Z person. And then we ended up with our tagline; 'entertaining the kids and frightening the parents.'' Whether it's a new digital, channel, or a new streamer, the plan is always to find other disruptors, Käßbohrer explained. 'I thought about the word 'disruption' and what it means to be a disrupter and a lot of it is about getting people together. You cannot be a disruptor alone or you are just the annoying kid in the class. You have to find other people, and then you have to take fear away from them, to take risks, to go somewhere you don't know.'
