"Killed The Monster": What Ex-Police Chief's Wife Reportedly Told Neighbour
Bengaluru:
Pallavi, the wife of ex-Karnataka police chief Om Prakash - stabbed to death and found in a pool of blood at his home Sunday - confessed to his murder in a video call to a neighbour, sources told NDTV Monday afternoon. She reportedly told her neighbour "I have killed the monster".
Om Prakash and Pallavi reportedly had a fight Sunday, around 3.30 pm, after which she allegedly threw chilli powder to incapacitate him, tied him up, and stabbed him multiple times.
According to sources, Pallavi then video-called the neighbour, who is the wife of another cop, and told her she had killed her husband. The neighbour informed her husband. And when police reached Om Prakash's residence, they promptly detained Pallavi and the couple's daughter.
Pallavi and the daughter, Kruthi, have since been questioned for over 12 hours.
A medical examination has confirmed Om Prakash was stabbed with two knives.
Sources have told NDTV Pallavi is the prime suspect.
A preliminary investigation suggests Pallavi and Om Prakash fought over some real estate he had transferred to a family member, and that the ex-top cop was killed in the aftermath.
A case has been filed based on a complaint by Om Prakash's son, Kartikeya.
The son has said his mother and sister both suffer from depression and had previously threatened to kill his father. Following the threats, Om Prakash moved to his sister's home, but had been brought back 48 hours earlier, against his better judgement, by the daughter.
He said he was away at an event in Domlur when neighbours summoned him home, and that he returned to find the police present and his father in a pool of blood.
"My mother, Pallavi, and my sister, Kruthi, have been suffering from depression and used to fight with my father frequently. I strongly suspect that they are involved in the murder of my father," he said in his police complaint.
No arrests have been made as yet.
Om Prakash, originally from Bihar, holds a master's degree in Geology. He became the Director General of Police of Karnataka in March 2025. Earlier, he had served as the chief of the Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards.

Man Accused Of Raping Girl Found Innocent, Days After Distraught Father Killed Self
Kaushambi (UP): A man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl here has been found innocent after an SIT probe revealed that the allegations were false and motivated by personal rivalry, police said on Tuesday. For the family of the man, Siddharth Tiwari, it was too late. His father died by suicide last week after all his efforts to convince the authorities of his son's innocence failed. Based on the Special Investigation Team's (SIT) findings, the rape charges against Siddharth were dropped and he was granted bail by court on Monday. The incident took place in Lohanda village under the Saini police station limits. On May 28, a complaint was received from a resident, alleging that his daughter was sexually assaulted by Dhunnu alias Siddharth Tiwari. Based on the complaint, Siddharth was arrested on May 29, police said on Tuesday. Later, police formed an SIT, led by Inspector Dhirendra Singh of Kadadham police station, amid protests from locals. The SIT found that Siddharth had only slapped the girl and she was not sexually assaulted. The complaint was exaggerated due to a personal rivalry, Superintendent of Police (SP) Rajesh Kumar said. Following the SIT report, sections related to rape and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were removed from the FIR, and Siddharth was granted bail by the chief judicial magistrate's court on Monday, the SP said. Days after Siddharth's arrest, things took a grim turn when his father, Rambabu Tiwari (50), a farmer, died by suicide on June 4 as his efforts to prove his son's innocence failed. His death triggered protests in Lohanda, and angry locals blocked National Highway 2 on June 5. The protesters fought with police, who used force to disperse the crowd. Later, Rambabu's last rites were conducted amid tight security. Police said they have registered a case against 10 named and 25-30 unidentified people in connection with the highway blockade and taken four into custody. On a complaint by Siddharth's family, a separate case has been registered against five people, including village head Bhoop Narayan Pal, who is on the run. A reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced for anyone providing information leading to his arrest, police said. SP Rajesh Kumar said three police officials -- Saini SHO Brijesh Karvariya, outpost in-charge Alok Rai, and investigating officer Krishnaswaroop Yadav -- have been suspended for negligence in handling the case. Was Kidnapped By Israeli Troops In International Waters: Greta Thunberg
Paris: Swedish activist Greta Thunberg said on Tuesday she was kidnapped in international waters by Israeli forces as she arrived in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport after being deported from Israel. "We were kidnapped in international waters," she told reporters at her arrival in Paris. Thunberg, 22, arrived in Paris a day after the Israeli navy prevented her and a group of fellow pro-Palestinian activists from sailing to Gaza. Israeli forces boarded the charity vessel as it neared Gaza early on Monday, trying to break through a years-old naval blockade of the coastal enclave, and seized the 12-strong crew, including Thunberg.
