Dani Harmer, famed for her role as the feisty Tracy Beaker, has taken to TikTok with an emotional plea for advice as she battles hair loss due to perimenopause.
The beloved actress, who gained stardom portraying Jacqueline Wilson's iconic character from 2002 to 2005, revealed her struggles in a heartfelt clip.
Opening up, Strictly star Dani shared her distress, "I have been diagnosed with perimenopause. And what I need your help with is my hair. I am losing it – like it is thinning so badly you can see the bald patches coming in."
The 35-year-old went on: "Just like the texture – it's thinning. It's bad, right?"
She reached out to her followers, pondering over the idea of getting extensions, despite worrying they might further damage her already thinning hair.
She said: "It could be a terrible idea. It might make my hair even worse, to be honest. But it's really getting me down now."

The much-loved star also disclosed that her husband, Simon Brough, was the one who first noticed a shift in her demeanour, recognising her increased depression and anxiety.
Dani didn't hold back on detailing her ordeal with other typical indicators of perimenopause, such as brain fog and night terrors, sharing the realities of the pre-menopausal phase that women can face as early as their 30s or 40s.
Despite the hurdles she's been grappling with, Dani revealed that nearly two years of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has finally helped her feel like herself again.
"The only things that have really stuck are the hair loss and the odd hot flush," she added.

The actress also offered her insights to women experiencing similar situations, stating: "I'm definitely no expert at all! But if anyone has any questions I'll try and answer using my experiences."
Her video elicited a wave of emotional support and practical advice from fans on how to combat her hair loss, with suggestions ranging from collagen powder and rosemary oil to Jamaican black castor oil and silk pillowcases.
One commenter advised: " Nooo no extensions – this will thin it more. Wear your hair down more, no tight hair bands. Change your shampoo and routines. Change your parting regularly. I'm going through the same."
Perimenopause can trigger a variety of symptoms such as irregular periods, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes, and sleep disturbances. Other typical signs of this transitional phase include vaginal dryness, sensitive teeth, decreased libido, and changes in skin and hair.

She joined the original breakfast TV station TV-am in 1994 as its Scotland Correspondent. When the Camden-based company lost its licence, she was one of only a few stars who made the switch to GMTV in 1993. Since then she has been a mainstay fixture on ITV screens in various iterations of the morning format. However, the commercial network has announced sweeping changes to its daytime output. From January, Lorraine will only take to the airwaves for 30 weeks of the year and for only half an hour at a time. Following the announcement, fears rose that the veteran presenter could quit the channel entirely. However, she insisted that she was not quite done yet when she spoke to Tom Kerridge on the Proper Tasty podcast. "I've been doing telly for over 40 years. It's mad isn't it? It's absolutely crazy," Lorraine remarked. "I started in breakfast telly in 1984, and I'm still getting away with it. Extraordinarily. However, the star did allude that she likes to do different projects away from her She continued: "Not so much in the morning, but if I do a wee show on Channel 4, or The Last Leg, or something like that. ITV's daytime TV schedule changes in full Good Morning Britain will be extended by 30 minutes to run from 6am to 9.30am daily. Lorraine will run from 9.30am-10am, on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. During the weeks Lorraine is not on air, Good Morning Britain will run from 6am to 10am. This Morning will remain in its 10am-12.30pm slot on weekdays throughout the year. Loose Women will be in the 12.30-1.30pm slot, again on a seasonal basis for 30 weeks of the year. The changes will take effect from January 2026. Lorraine added: "So, when I'm sitting there and I look at something and I think, "Gosh, what an absolute k**b that person is," or how silly they are, I say it and I don't realise I've said it. So I have to watch." This comes after it was reported that Lorraine had refused an 'insulting offer' from bosses to sign a new contract. A source explained that she declined the opportunity to merge her daytime show with Good Morning Britain, and was 'prepared to walk away.' A new role titled 'Head of Lorraine' has also been created to oversee the daytime changes, but the contract only lasts for 12-months. 5 Lorraine's show was cut to just 30minutes of running time Credit: Rex

Dear Mary: how can I point out a friend's unsightly nose hair?
Q. I'm the author of 14 books, mostly historical fiction but a few children's books, all published by a major firm. I find that I sometimes get invited to grand dinners in Notting Hill where I am often put next to a middle-aged banker's wife. When I tell them about what I do and how hard it is to sell books, they start giving me their advice. It's always the same: 'You should really go on Instagram' and 'Have you tried TikTok?'. I feel my blood boiling because these are people who have never earned a penny or done anything, and I have no desire to submit myself to a Silicon Valley platform. What should I do? – S.P., London W12 A. The trouble with being too grand for TikTok/BookTok etc is that you may be missing a big trick. Sales of White Nights by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen are surging as a direct result of having gone viral on these platforms. You should thank the women pleasantly for their tips. Chippiness is not an ideal mindset to bring to a dinner. Q. A dear and popular friend, who regularly hosts us at house parties, does not currently have a girlfriend and has developed an unsightly growth of nasal hair. How, without appearing to be revolted by it myself, can I draw this to his attention? – Name and address withheld A. Silhouette portraitists, often seen in marquees during wedding celebrations, snip out likenesses in no time. They are surprisingly affordable. Next time you attend one of your friend's house parties, why not commission one to turn up to add to the jollity? Q.
