Chandigarh airport suspends flight operations after Operation Sindoor
The Chandigarh International Airport Wednesday suspended all flight operations until further notice in the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Indian military operation targeting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (Pok).
In a travel advisory on X, the Chandigarh International Airport posted, 'Due to changing airspace conditions in the region, all flights to and from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport, Chandigarh, are suspended until further notice. For further assistance, rescheduling or refund, please contact your respective airlines. We appreciate your understanding. For future updates, please follow us.'
As per sources, nearly 30 flights to and from Chandigarh International Airport have been cancelled.
Operation Sindoor, India's strikes in Pakistan and PoK conducted in the early hours of Wednesday, came two weeks after a terrorist attack in south Kashmir's Pahalgam killed 26 civilians on April 22.

Flight operations at various Indian airports, particularly those near the India-Pakistan border and key Indian Air Force bases, have been affected by the developing situation and the resulting changes in airspace conditions in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
India's largest airline IndiGo said its flights to and from several airports, including Chandigarh, stood cancelled. Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Leh, Dharamshala, Bikaner, and Jodhpur are the other airports IndiGo mentioned in its advisory.
Tata -owned airline Air India cancelled all its flights to and from Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot until at least Wednesday noon. The airline also diverted two international flights that were bound for Amritsar to Delhi. Also, its budget airline, Air India Express, cancelled flights to and from Amritsar, Jammu, Srinagar, and Hindon until at least Wednesday noon.
Flight tracking data Wednesday morning reportedly indicated minimal civilian aircraft activity north of Delhi and throughout much of Rajasthan and Gujarat. These regions include sensitive airports near the India-Pakistan border and key Indian Air Force stations.

The G7 Summit 2025 marks PM Modi's sixth consecutive participation in the group of seven meetings as well as the prime minister's first visit to Canada in a decade. PM Modi's visit to Canada comes amid his three nation tour. The first stop was Cyprus, where the BJP leader was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, which is the highest civilian order of the country. After Canada, the prime minister will be headed to Croatia.

THE University Impact Rankings 2025: Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, 3 other Indian universities figure in top 100 list
Four Indian universities have secured a position in the top 100 list in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) University Impact Rankings 2025 released on June 18. The Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham at 41st rank is among the best-performing Indian institutes. The other Indian institutes in the list in the top 100 are Lovely Professional University (48), JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (56) and Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences (96). Australia's Western Sydney University has bagged the top position for the fourth consecutive year, followed by the United Kingdom's University of Manchester and South Korea's Kyungpook National University (KNU) in the second and third positions, respectively. Asian universities claim more than half of all places in the rankings, and 10 out of the 17 individual Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) rankings are now led by an Asian university, a statement on the THE Impact rankings website said. It stated that Indonesia's Universitas Airlangga, in joint ninth place, is the most sustainable institution from an emerging economy. Eight countries — Botswana, Burkina Faso, El Salvador, Estonia, Maldives, Namibia, Papua New Guinea and Senegal — have made their debut in the sustainability rankings this year. Beyond 100, THE Impact Rankings 2025 does not assign individual ranks but places institutions in ranges instead. Anna University, BS Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, KIIT University and Manipal Academy of Higher Education are ranked at 101-200. Nitte (Deemed to be university) placed at 201-300, is the only institute in that range. Centurion University of Technology and Management, Chitkara University, Dr DY Patil Vidyapeeth Pune, IIT Gandhinagar, Manipal University Jaipur, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences and Shiv Nadar University are placed between 301 and 400 ranks. While IIT Guwahati and VIT find themselves between 601 and 800 ranks, IIT Mandi, NIT Silchar and JNU are ranked between 1001-1500 in the THE Impact Rankings 2025. The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025 has ranked 2,526 universities from 130 countries or territories based on their progress towards the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

'Like sabzi market': Indian techie blasts 'disrespectful' HR after botched salary negotiations
A frustrated Indian techie sparked a debate on social media over salary expectations after he accused a company's HR department of 'disrespectful' salary negotiations, comparing the experience to haggling in a sabzi market. The post, made in the r/developersIndia subreddit, struck a chord with many in the tech community who say they've experienced similar treatment. The techie, a data specialist with four years of experience, said that the hiring process ended in a lower salary offer than what was initially discussed. The techie said that the NCR-based firm required relocation and in-office presence, prompting him to quote ₹19 LPA during salary negotiations. discussions.
