Dino Morea
for questioning next week in connection with an alleged Rs 65 crore Mithi river desilting scam, following raids at 15 locations, including the actor's Mumbai residence, on Friday.
The case involves accusations of inflated bills, fake work logs, and systematic diversion of public funds meant for flood prevention and drainage maintenance in Mumbai.
The raids were conducted across Mumbai and Kochi under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act at locations linked to contractors and officials suspected of embezzlement in the Mithi River desilting operations.
The actor's summons comes days after he and his brother were questioned by Mumbai Police in a related corruption case.
The ED initiated its investigation after taking note of earlier inquiries by the Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Comptroller and Auditor General that had flagged potential financial misconduct in the desilting project.
Sources within the agency indicated that financial documents, electronic devices, and transaction records are being seized during the ongoing searches.
The ED suspects a network of contractors and middlemen submitted fraudulent work completion reports to misappropriate funds intended for infrastructure development.

UP CM directs officials to take action against fake, shell companies
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday directed officials to take action against shell companies to stop the attempts to misuse the facilities meant for genuine traders. While conducting a high-level review of the State Tax Department, the CM directed officials to ensure transparency in tax collection and adopt a policy of technological efficiency and strict enforcement. "Tax evasion is a national crime that negatively impacts development plans and welfare schemes," he said. Stressing that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a consumer-based tax system, he noted that areas with higher population density are naturally expected to generate more tax revenue. He instructed officials to develop special strategies for zones where tax collection is below average. Adityanath directed that information on suspicious firms registered under Central GST (CGST) be shared with the Centre for cancellation of their registration. For firms under State GST (SGST), he ordered in-depth departmental investigations, and if irregularities are found, their registration should be canceled and FIRs lodged. The CM emphasised the need for on-site inspection of all newly registered firms, stating "fake companies should not be allowed to obstruct the rights of honest taxpayers. CM Adityanath said that such acts are an attempt to misuse the facilities meant for genuine traders, which is unforgivable. Such inspections are essential to ensure that genuine businesses can operate fairly and without interference," he said. During the meeting, officials informed the CM that Rs 18,161.59 crore in GST and VAT had been collected during April and May against the financial year 2025-26 target of Rs 1,75,725 crore.

Over 340 encroachments on Beed Bypass Road removed, drive resumes on Monday
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The civic body has cleared more than 340 illegal structures along the Beed Bypass Road during its current anti-encroachment drive. The operation, which started on June 3, will continue from Monday following a two-day pause due to festivities. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Pramod Jadhav, who oversees Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation's special ex-servicemen squads, confirmed that Rs 2.8 lakh in penalties was collected from residents during the anti-encroachment operation. "The Beed Bypass Road has emerged as one of the fastest-developing commercial and residential areas of the city. The stretch of nearly 6km, from Mahanubhav Chowk to Deolai Chowk, had different encroachments, even on service roads and other road infrastructure. These illegal structures are being removed during the special drive," he said. According to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) officials, the removed structures included both permanent and temporary constructions. "A public notification was issued appealing to people to remove the encroachments. Some of them removed their illegal structures on their own while the remaining did not pay heed to the appeal and attracted fines," Deshmukh said, adding that the drive was carried out under the supervision of municipal commissioner G Sreekanth. Local residents from Satara Deolai and surrounding areas have requested continued action until all unauthorised structures are removed. "Some big hotels and other commercial establishments have encroached upon the service road, causing huge inconvenience to locals. The authorities should also pay attention to service roads being used for illegal vehicle parking by these establishments," said Rajshekhar Wamshi, a private professional.
