Robot DOG makes an appearance at the Met Gala - dressed in a tuxedo and adorned with a 1,000-carat diamond leash
At New York's Met Gala, guests are known for attention-grabbing outfits, from Katy Perry 's human chandelier dress to Kim Kardashian 's all-black body suit.
But one attendant in particular has stolen the limelight this year – and he's not even human.
Indian-American entrepreneur Mona Patel rocked up to the annual event on Monday night with an adorable robotic dachshund in tow.
Vector the robo-dog, developed by scientists at MIT, has a 1,000-carat diamond-studded leash and his own cute little specially-fitted tuxedo.
Powered by AI and equipped with sensors, Vector has customised movement patterns and 'just the right amount of sass', Vogue India reports.
Anyone old enough to remember the BBC children's TV series Picture Book may be reminded of Sausage, the mischievous puppet dachshund.
Patel herself wore a custom suit with a cape and corseted bodice from American fashion designer Thom Browne, plus a 3D-printed hat.
Vector has been modelled after Browne's dachshund, Hector, but this robotic, tuxed-up, diamond-leashed version is 'ready to outshine me at any moment,' Patel said.
The Met Gala is the yearly fundraising social occasion in New York held on the first Monday of May where guests outdo each other with eye popping outfits.
Among those in attendance this year were Rihanna, Madonna, Nicole Kidman, Barry Keoghan, Diana Ross, Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and Kim Kardashian.
Mona Patel is one of the less high profile names, having been described as the 'mystery woman' last year when her butterfly dress went viral.
Born in Vadodara, Gujarat before moving to the US in 2003, she is an entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist with a background in business and engineering.
Vector was constructed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where Patel obtained an MBA (Master of Business Administration).
It's believed Patel had some involvement with the design of the dog, which has been programmed with customised movement patterns.
Meanwhile, the back of her outfit was adorned with a bizarre robotic spine – taken as a nod to her engineering background.
'I've been lucky to work with brilliant engineers, and I couldn't resist bringing that part of my life onto the red carpet,' she told Harper's Bazaar.

How a computer whiz duped the world into believing Katy Perry attended the 2024 Met Gala - all from their bedroom in Brazil!
Met Gala is the place to be seen or the biggest names in music, film, and fashion - even if some stars weren't really there.
Singer Katy Perry skipped the Met Gala in 2024, but that didn't stop her likeness from making an appearance.
In 2024, DailyMail.com talked to two superfans of pop star Katy Perry, whose work with AI image-generators 'imagined' what Perry might have worn.
The images looked so vivid and realistic that they even fooled Perry's own mother!
The images leaned heavily into the 'garden' part of 2024 Met Gala's theme, with lush, verdant ivies and floral patterns draping a simulated Perry.
In one image, the 'Firework' songwriter's hair flows in long crimped waves, like 1940s screen siren Veronica Lake; in the other, an AI Perry sports the on-trend 'wet look'.

CHRISTOPHER STEVENS reviews Race Across The World: I could win Race Across The World's £20,000 first prize - and here's how
Why not just hire a car? The rules of Race Across The World prohibit air travel, but taxis and hitch-hiking are fair game . . . so there can't be anything wrong with renting your own wheels. As contestants neared the finish line at India 's southern tip, after a trek via train, bus and tuktuk from the Great Wall of China, all of them had cash to spare. Budgets have been tighter than ever before on this series but, despite that, every one of the four couples had enough money to go by cab on the final leg. It's taken them 51 days to cover 8,700 miles, which is an average of 170 miles a day. Driving a rental, they could easily have covered the distance in half the time. And if a hire car was too expensive, why not buy a motorbike? It's just the devious way my mind works, but surely there must be a shortcut to victory. When the race was set in Canada two years ago, several pairs of competitors cadged lifts with obliging Canucks. I'd be inclined to find an amateur chauffeur and offer him a bribe: get me to the final checkpoint ahead of the pack, and you can have a quarter of the £20,000 prize money. It's an expensive way to win — but losing is more expensive. Muscle rub of the week When Iraq invaded Kuwait in 1990, we learned on Flight 149: Hostage Of War (Sky Documentaries), President George Bush was in the White House, getting a massage. That's what you call lying down on the job. None of the five duos was prepared to cheat, of course, because the real winners on this show are the ones who forge tighter bonds with each other along the way. The race's producers have done an exceptional job of picking the right participants: all of them have been likeable and interesting, and every couple has grown closer week by week. Both sets of siblings, Elizabeth and Letitia, and Brian and Melvyn, barely knew each other at the start of the trip. Thank goodness that, as it turned out, they discovered they genuinely liked each other. Might have been awkward if the adventure had simply served to remind them why they drifted apart in the first place. We've all been hoping that young lovers Fin and Sioned would get wed along the way. Sioned certainly was. When she and her boyfriend were presented with garlands at a flower market in Bengaluru, she told him hopefully, 'We can get married now.' The most touching relationship has been that of the eventual winners, mother-and-son Caroline and Tom. She obviously adores him, and he's learned to show his appreciation, finding the words to thank her in a sweet diary entry. Still, she's sensible to be wary of him first thing in the morning. Her tactic at home, she said, is to take him a cup of tea in bed and a bacon butty — and then run. Millions of parents will sympathise. It was the show's bad luck, though, that the most intriguing couple, divorcees Yin and Gaz, were eliminated halfway through the series. What would it take to bring those two back together — maybe a stint in the jungle on I'm A Celebrity next?

Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness list $60million their 'modernist masterpiece' Manhattan penthouse amid divorce settlement
Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness have put their AU$60 million (US$39 million) New York apartment on the market amid their messy divorce. reports that the former couple are offloading the stunning five-bedroom 'triplex' apartment in the West Village that they purchased back in 2008 for AU$32 million (US$21 million). The penthouse boasts an eye-watering 1000 sqm of floor space and spans the top three floors of a glass tower overlooking the Hudson River. The three floors are connected via a spiral staircase and the luxe abode also boasts seven bathrooms. It also features a library, private sauna and an indoor gym, while the kitchen boasts a massive island bench, stainless steel appliances and plenty of cabinet space. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Designed by lauded architect Richard Meier, the property is described as a 'modernist masterpiece'. The main bedroom, meanwhile occupies an entire floor and includes a luxurious spa bath and dressing area. Hugh, 56, and Deborra-Lee, 69, tried to offload the apartment back in 2022, but paused the sale in favour of putting it on the rental market. The listing comes after it was recently revealed that the ex-couple had decided to split their other New York abode down the middle. The former couple filed records with the city regarding their shares of their former love nest, as seen in documents obtained by It marked the first public sign of their asset division, which The Real Deal was the first to report on, and comes just two days after the actress formally filed for divorce. The three-bedroom and 3.5-bathroom penthouse, which the couple purchased together back in 2022 for AU$32.46 million (US$21.12 million), had not been listed for sale but underwent a property transfer. According to the new deed seen by it was confirmed that the pair have ultimately decided to split this property down the middle. The documentation of the property transfer shows the names of the exes' longtime legal advisor as well as their shell companies on either or both sides of the deed. The paperwork reveals that Lackawanna LLC, a limited liability company that the pair previously used to purchase the home, transferred the penthouse to Phoenix Rising I LLC for AU$18 million (US$11.7 million). Phoenix Rising has been linked to Furness and is perhaps a symbolic name for reemerging from the ashes post-divorce. The sale price of the property had been registered at AU$36.27 million (US$23.6) million, so Deborra-Lee seemingly had the property transferred to her via the shell company for just under half of that sum. The deed also shows that the transaction was made between 'relatives or former relatives.' Their multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio includes properties spanning across three continents. They own several luxury properties across the United States, England and Australia. Hugh and Deborra-Lee, who had been married since 1996, announced their separation back in 2023 after 27 years of marriage. At the time, they cited a desire to pursue 'individual growth.' Though the pair have not publicly revealed the reasons behind their separation, rumors have run rampant as fans speculate Jackman growing close to his fellow Broadway co-star Sutton Foster in The Music Man play was a factor in their split. Last month, Deborra-Lee, alluded to Hugh's alleged affair with his now-girlfriend as she broke her silence about his 'betrayal' since legally filing for divorce. 'My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,' she wrote in a statement shared exclusively with 'It's a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.' She continued: 'This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.'

EXCLUSIVE Taron Egerton is back on the market! Rocketman star looking for love on celeb dating app Raya after seemingly splitting from Marvel girlfriend
Taron Egerton appeared to have found love at the end of last year with a Marvel star but it appears he is back on the market. The Rocketman star, 35, has been spotted looking for love on celebrity dating app Raya after relocating to Los Angeles. Back in December, it was revealed Taron had been secretly dating actress Chloe Bennett for several months with the pair enjoying dates in the UK and US. But the emergence of his profile on Raya - in pictures seen by MailOnline - suggests the pair have called it quits, just months after making it official. The Welsh actor's profile said that he was visiting London but resides in LA, and he tagged the track Lou's Tune by DARGZ. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. MailOnline has approached representatives for Taron for comment. In December, Taron was seen enjoying a romantic stroll with Chloe in N ew York City, just days after the pair confirmed their romance. The pair wrapped up from the winter chill as they took in the sights of the Big Apple. Taron wore a dark cardigan over a casual black ensemble which he teamed with a pair of comfortable beige high top trainers. Meanwhile Chloe, who's best known for her role in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, opted for a long brown coat and jeans. The stunner completed the look with a knitted beanie while styling her long high-lighted tresses in loose waves. The week before, the couple were spotted for the first time together as they once again strolled though the streets of New York before stopping in a cafe for a kiss. An insider said last year of his relationship with Chloe: 'Taron has had a turbulent few years but things are much better with Chloe in the picture. 'They met in the US and went on a string of dates here before deciding to take a trip to the UK together. 'He showed her some of his favourite spots and they managed to fly under the radar, which was convenient because they're both super-private people. 'They are busy and taking it slowly, but from what they've been telling friends, it is going really well.' The last time Taron reportedly joined celebrity dating app was after his split from is long-term girlfriend Emily Thomas in April 2022. Following their split, Taron deleted all traces of the assistant director from his Instagram profile at the time. At the time sources close to the star claimed their relationship became 'strained' due to their busy schedules. An insider told The Sun back in April 2022: 'Taron and Emily have both been really busy for the past year and it put a lot of pressure on their relationship. 'They have separated and it hasn't been easy for either of them. He is taking some time for himself now but he is open to meeting someone else soon. 'He has been putting himself out there on Raya in the hopes he can ease himself back into dating.' Emily has worked on blockbuster movies including the likes of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Wonder Woman and Justice League. He previously split with Emily in 2018 before confirming they had reconciled at the pre-BAFTA Filmmakers Dinner four months later. In November of that year, the Robin Hood actor dropped the bombshell he had split from Emily after two years together. Taron insisted he was ' reinventing' himself in the wake of the break-up as he shaved his head to play Sir Elton John in the biopic Rocketman. He claimed shaving his head had a 'cathartic' impact to change the way he looked following his split. He said: 'I found it quite liberating because I just finished the Elton John thing and had this awful hair. So, I shaved my hair cos they had thinned it right out and given me this bald patch. 'It was very cathartic and also, not to put a downer on things, I split up with my girlfriend not long ago and it weirdly felt a bit like reinvention… to sort of change the way I look.'
