R. Thomas Deluxe Grill is for sale

Axios15-04-2025

R. Thomas Deluxe Grill, Atlanta's late-night beacon of healthy food, fresh-squeezed juices and tropical birds, could be yours for the right price.
Why it matters: Though healthier options are easier to find today, R. Thomas remains an outlier where the menu — R's Meatless Meatloaf! — is just as colorful as its surfer shack decor of beaded curtains, rattan and bright colors.
For generations of metro Atlantans, the quirky Buckhead spot has been a refuge from chains and a yin to the Waffle House's yang after a night out partying.
Driving the news: Owner Linay Sheltra, the daughter of Richard Thomas, the former fast food entrepreneur who opened the Bay Area-inspired restaurant in 1985, told the AJC she's looking for another health-minded individual to take over.
What they're saying:"We're going to be vetting people a little bit more, maybe deeper than we normally do," Atlanta entrepreneur Cliff Oxford, who's helping Sheltra sell the restaurant, told the AJC, the first to report the news.

St. Paul Downtown Development Corp. seeks to acquire Alliance Bank Center

The St. Paul Downtown Development Corporation, a new nonprofit created by the Downtown Alliance, has purchased the bank note for the troubled Alliance Bank Center on Fifth St., the first step toward placing the recently-vacated property under the control of a legal receiver. 'There's no greater example of the challenges and opportunities in downtown St. Paul than the Alliance Bank Center site,' said corporation president Dave Higgins, in a written statement. 'We can't create a strong and vibrant downtown St. Paul without creating a stable and robust core, and the Alliance Bank Center site is critical to making that happen.' Officials with the Downtown Development Corporation said details behind the bank note purchase are private. The nonprofit plans to initiate legal proceedings to place the 300,000-square-foot vacant building into receivership and ensure it is properly maintained and secured, according to the written statement from the corporation. Current skyway closures will continue. The Downtown Development Corporation plans to 'assess opportunities to restore the property,' which it says 'faces significant structural and mechanical issues following years of disinvestment and neglect.' The city of St. Paul has been providing emergency building services since Madison Equities stopped paying for maintenance and utilities, effectively shuttering the building in March. Some retail and office tenants impacted by the closure have found new homes in other parts of downtown. American Airlines Is Giving Onboard Service a Major Upgrade

American Airlines Is Giving Onboard Service a Major Upgrade originally appeared on Parade. Attention all traveling foodies: American Airlines is rolling out a deliciously major upgrade. The airline is celebrating some of its popular summer travel destinations with a new European-inspired in-flight dining menu beginning June 11 for customers flying in Flagship Business, a Flagship Suite Preferred seat, or a Flagship Suite seat on select European routes. Routes that will feature the menu include Paris (CDG) and Nice (NCE), France; Rome (FCO), Venice (VCE), Naples (NAP), and Milan (MXP), Italy; Barcelona (BCN) and Madrid (MAD), Spain; Frankfurt (FRA) and Munich (MUC), Germany; London (LHR) and Edinburgh (EDI), United Kingdom; and Dublin (DUB), Ireland. The menu items inspired by France are ratatouille and a porcini short rib paired with polenta and blue cheese, while the Italian-inspired menu features an herbed short rib with pea risotto and pan-seared halibut with fingerling potatoes. Would it be a German menu without schnitzel and spaetzle? American Airlines isn't taking that risk, adding both to the menu with potatoes and blistered tomatoes accompanying the schnitzel, and grilled zucchini, cremini mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes joining the spaetzle. The theme continues with the Spain-inspired menu items, going coastal with a mar y mar paella and a seared sea bass served with squid ink rice, while the U.K. is represented with mustard-crumb lamb served with turnips, peas and baby carrots, and a peppercorn short rib with roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables. That's not the only change being implemented, as the airline is now giving customers more time to make their pre-order selections by adjusting the pre-order meal window to 20 hours before departure, giving them four additional hours than they currently have to select their in-flight meal. We Found Olivia Rodrigo's Exact Polka Dot Micro Shorts

Is there anything Olivia Rodrigo can't do? Before checking major milestones like "headline a major U.S. festival" and "collaborate with rock legend David Byrne of The Talking Heads" off her bucket list at last weekend's Governors Ball in New York City, she also further cemented her fashion icon status by nailing not one, but two of the summer's biggest trends in one budget-friendly outfit. Ahead of her headlining performance on Saturday, O-Rod was spotted strutting around NYC in a pair of linen polka dot micro shorts from Reformation. Not only is her exact pair somehow still in stock (although some sizes seem to be going fast!), they're just $98, so you can copy Olivia's look without blowing your budget. While the Sour songstress completed her ensemble with a rugged pair of biker-inspired boots to match her edgy aesthetic, it's easy to incorporate polka dots into preppy, classic, or vintage-inspired outfits, too. Dare we say it's one of the most versatile patterns out there? Not to mention, this isn't the first time the Grammy winner has been spotted wearing polka dots, further proving it's one of this year's hottest trends. If you're more into the micro shorts trend than polka dots, the Ref shorts come in solid colors, too. We've seen everyone from Dua Lipa to Daisy Edgar Jones and Dakota Johnson wear itty-bitty shorts, so it was only a matter of time before Olivia jumped on the trend. And spoiler alert: During her performance later that night, she wore yet another pair of hot pants, this time in a bold red complete with studs. If you're inspired to steal Liv's look but not inspired to dish out $98, we found more polka dot shorts in a variety of cuts starting at just $9. Looking for a denim version? We're big fans of the larger dots on this pair from ASOS. And while there are plenty of similar micro shorts available, we're also loving this longer style, ideal for Old Hollywood-inspired looks.
