LIBERTY, Ohio (WKBN) — The Muslim community gathered this morning for the final day of Ramadan, known as Eid al-Fitr.
The day is greeted with joy and celebration as Muslims bid farewell to the holy month of Ramadan. The month is a time for increased worship and good deeds. Many will fast daily from sunrise to sunset.
Eid al-Fitr means the breaking of the fast, which is why many community members gathered at the Metroplex to welcome in the new season.
'It's a time of celebration, a time of gratitude. It's a time of togetherness,' Ramsey Ahmed of the Islamic Society of Greater Youngstown said. 'It is something that's very significant in both the communal sense, but also in a spiritual and religious sense.'
Throughout the US, it is typical for many to come together for Eid prayers and for festivals.
