IFP leader Hlabisa describes slain MP Khethamabala Sithole as a 'gentle giant'
JOHANNESBURG - IFP Leader Velenkosini Hlabisa has remembered the party's slain deputy chief whip Khethamabala Sithole as a gentle giant in his final farewell to the 68-year-old.
Hlabisa delivered the eulogy at Sithole's funeral in Nkandla in northern KwaZulu-Natal, where thousands of mourners gathered on Sunday.

Sithole was gunned down at the Bayafuthi hostel in Joburg's East Rand over a week ago.
Two men, aged 30 and 32, have been arrested in connection with the murder.
Hlabisa says Sithole was the epitome of an IFP member - always level-headed and seeking reconciliation in all circumstances.
He says Sithole's dedication to inspiring the youth through sports will be missed, adding his participation in the Comrades Marathon on more than one occasion was a true show of character as someone who was always committed and dedicated.
Sithole's death comes less than a year after the death of another prominent IFP leader, Princess Sibuyiselwe Buthelezi, the youngest daughter of IFP founder Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi.
Hlabisa says the party is poorer after both losses.
Other political parties also hailed Sithole for his dedication to public service and ethical leadership.
While arrests have been made in the matter, the motive remains unclear.

After being reprimanded by the judge president, he told the Pretoria High Court: 'I have never behaved the way I did…I agree, my conduct was questionable and incorrect.' Mokgoatlheng continued: 'I apologise to the accused, the lawyers, the public, the judges, magistrates, students, religious leaders – to everyone in SA who felt hurt or insulted by my actions.' However, the judge stopped short of apologising over claims that his comments were racially driven. He added: 'If people say I'm a racist, maybe I'm not aware of that, but I apologise.' Comrades Marathon: Fish Hoek runner in critical condition after mysterious disappearance
Moira Harding was found in Durban's Point Waterfront area after going missing following yesterday's Comrades Marathon Fish Hoek Athletics Club (FHAC) member Moira Harding, 54, is in a critical condition in an Umhlanga hospital after she had wandered off and went missing after completing the Comrades Marathon on Sunday June 8. FHAC clubhouse manager Andre Blom said Ms Harding had been wearing an "in case of emergency" (ICE) rubber bracelet whit her emergency contact details when she was found. He said thanks to the information on the ICE bracelet, her husband had been contacted. IOL reported that a missing persons report was filed after friends and family were unable to locate her following her 5pm race finish, prompting a full-scale search. Police in KwaZulu-Natal are piecing together the circumstances around the disappearance of Comrades Marathon runner, Moira Harding.

Sister of Comrades Marathon runner in hospital after going missing speaks out
JOHANNESBURG - The Comrades Marathon runner who was found near the National Sea and Rescue Building at the Point in Durban is recovering in the ICU. Moira Harding was found unresponsive and hypothermic on Monday morning, after she never returned from the race. Her sister Fiona Baldwin said that the end of the race was chaotic and poorly controlled as it ended in a street and not in a stadium as it usually does. Baldwin believes had the race ended at its usual place her sister would not have gone missing. Harding's Fish Hoek Athletic Club Manager Andre Blom said that thanks to her emergency tag her husband was contacted once she was found. "She was wearing an ID bracelet; they call it an ICE bracelet in case of emergencies, so it's a rubber band which has a tag in it and on that tag, you would then put in emergency contact details so if any person finds you they can immediately phone that tag number and then they will then be able to get into contact the emergency contact for that person that is how they found her husband." Blom added that the club had a meet up spot designated however Moira had plans to meet her sister on her own.
