CPI (Maoist) reiterates its offer for peace talks, calls for immediate halt to Operation Kagar
Reiterating that the CPI (Maoist) is ready for peace talks, the banned outfit's North-West Sub-Zonal Bureau has renewed its call for halting the ongoing offensive against Maoists by security forces, which it called a 'surround and destroy' operation along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border.
A statement purportedly issued by Rupesh of the CPI (Maoist) called upon the government to stop the ongoing 'Operation Kagar' for one month to create a favourable environment for peace talks for the peaceful resolution of the problem through dialogue. The CPI (Maoist) Central Committee has already released letters expressing our party's readiness for peace talks as per the wish of all, he said, adding that the government's intention appears to be 'something else'.
He said, 'Despite the opportunity to peacefully resolve the problem through dialogue, the government is trying to resolve it through repression and force.'
'As a consequence, the major offensive by security forces started on Bijapur-Telangana border. This has to be halted immediately and the security forces should be withdrawn,' Rupesh added.

Anti-Naxal Force will remain active in state despite downsizing: Parameshwara
Mangaluru: Home minister G Parameshwara said the Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) will not be entirely disbanded, although its strength is being reduced. He told reporters here on Friday that the Naxal activities remain strong and prevalent in Odisha and Assam, increasing the possibility of Maoists infiltrating Karnataka . "The state should be ready to counter in case Naxals from other states infiltrate. Hence, we have continued to maintain a considerable size of ANF in the state," he said. On the murder of Abdul Rahiman from Kolthamajalu in Bantwal, the home minister said police were conducting investigations from various angles to find the motives. In response to a query as to whether Rahiman was murdered for personal rivalry, the minister said he was not aware of the actual motives behind the murder. "We cannot conclude whether he was murdered for personal rivalry or communal enmity until an investigation report is prepared," he said. Regarding the Union home ministry handing over the Suhas Shetty murder case to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), Parameshwara said since the Centre has written to the state govt, the case has to be handed over. "Karnataka police are efficient in conducting investigations. I have no clue why the Centre has sought an NIA probe specifically into one particular case," he said. In response to a query on the demand for an Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder of Abdul Rahiman and the mob lynching of Ashraf, the home minister said, "The investigation is going on and if required, we will intensify it." Fresh caste survey On the fresh caste survey, Parameshwara said many communities have raised their voices against the previous census. "Many have complained that the census report showed less population than the actual size of their communities. The data in the caste survey report prepared by the commission led by Kantharaj and Jayaprakash Hegde is 10 years old. The population has increased in the past 10 years and the same should be included in the report. Based on the suggestions of many, including the party high command, govt has decided to conduct a fresh survey," he said. "Concerns of all communities regarding their population will be addressed through the fresh survey," he added. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here . Left parties urge govt. to condemn Israel's air strike on Iran
Left parties on Friday (June 13, 2025) urged the Union government to condemn Israel's air strike on Iran and urge Tel Aviv to cease its military operations immediately, saying that it could likely spark a broader regional conflict and plunge West Asia into deeper instability. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in a statement here, said, this act once again demonstrates that Israel is behaving like a 'rogue state' launching attacks on countries in West Asia at will and violating international laws and conventions. The party said the Israeli strikes have resulted in the deaths of senior nuclear scientists, army generals, and numerous civilians in Iran. 'The objective appears to be the assertion of Israel's hegemony over the entire West Asian region...' the CPI(M) alleged. While Israel itself possesses nuclear weapons it is seeking to prevent other countries in the region from developing nuclear technology, even for peaceful purposes. 'This attack, occurring amidst ongoing negotiations with Iran on nuclear issues, is likely to spark a broader regional conflict and plunge West Asia into deeper instability. For the past 20 months, Israel has been carrying out a genocidal war against Palestine. Now, with this attack on Iran, it is clear that Israel seeks to eliminate any potential challenge to its dominance in the region,' the party said. The Communist Party of India called it an act of 'unprovoked act of aggression'. 'The Indian government must break its silence and condemn this attack unequivocally, aligning with our long-standing foreign policy based on non-alignment, peace, and respect for sovereignty,' it said. The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation also strongly condemned the Israeli aggression. The party said that India must 'break its silence and take all possible steps to stop Israel', adding, 'Silence and inaction will amount to complicity and India must not be bracketed with the U.S.-Israel axis in its escalating crimes against humanity.' The All India Forward Bloc said the attack threatens global peace and stability.

Cong legislators' meeting on June 15 to discuss seats
Patna: Congress has called a meeting of its legislators on June 15 in Patna to discuss its future course of action after the opposition coordination committee meeting on Thursday in which all the INDI Alliance partners have been asked to submit their lists of seats they wanted to contest in the coming assembly elections to RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav , who is the coordination committee chairman. All the Congress MLAs will be present in this meeting to be attended by AICC in charge of Bihar, Krishna Allavaru, state party president Rajesh Kumar and other senior leaders. Sources said the Congress legislators will be given responsibilities on the instructions of party leader Rahul Gandhi, who is making efforts to revive and strengthen the party at the grassroots level for the Bihar assembly elections due this year. The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of the bickering among the alliance partners over the number of seats being demanded by them. The Communist Party of India (CPI) reportedly complained about its ally CPI(ML) in the meeting after their leader Dipankar Bhattacharya said his party wanted 45 seats to contest. RJD, Congress, CPI, CPM, CPI(ML) and VIP are so far the INDIA bloc partners in Bihar. CPI state general secretary Ram Naresh Pandey told this reporter on Friday that the alliance partners had agreed not to make any statements which could create confusion. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 임플란트 29만원 이벤트 임플란트 더 알아보기 Undo "Every party will submit its list of seats it wants to contest," he said on way to Bennipatti to attend a party programme in Madhubani. Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) patron Mukesh Sahani raised the seat-sharing issue in the Thursday meeting. VIP spokesperson Dev Jyoti on Friday said the party's state committee had proposed to contest 60 seats. "But Tejashwi will take a final call," he said. The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), an alliance partner of RJD in the neighbouring state, has already staked its claim on 12 seats in the bordering districts. Though JMM is not a part of the INDIA bloc in Bihar so far, its spokesman Manoj Pandey on Friday said the party has strong public support in 12 Bihar constituencies. RJD spokesman Shakti Singh Yadav, however, dismissed any rift and said since there is an internal democracy in the alliance, everyone is free to express his opinion. Congress, which contested 70 seats last time and won 19, wants to keep the number intact with a few changes in constituencies. Out of the total 243 seats, RJD contested the maximum 144, Congress 70, CPI(ML) 19, CPI 6 and CPM 4 seats. The CPI(ML) had the best strike rate of winning 12 out of the 19 seats it contested. RJD won 75, Congress 19, and CPI-CPM 2 each in 2020. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
