Suncombe expands SUNpH range with compact pH neutralisation systems for new build and retrofit laboratories
London, UK – Suncombe, a global leader in waste decontamination and critical process systems, has unveiled its latest innovation: a Compact pH Neutralisation System – a game-changing solution for laboratories with limited space but high compliance demands. As laboratory projects accelerate not only across the UK but also in rapidly growing markets like the United Arab Emirates, construction teams and facility operators are turning to the trusted SUNpH™ range to ensure reliable, regulation-ready effluent management.
Having long set the standard for large-scale pH neutralisation systems in production environments, Suncombe is now responding to growing demand from laboratory developers, fit-out contractors, and MEP consultants, both in the UK and GCC, for smaller, smarter, and more flexible systems.
'We've always delivered industrial-strength performance,' said Steve Overton, Technical Director at Suncombe. 'Now we're delivering it in a compact, lab-friendly format – without compromising on compliance, quality, or monitoring.'
The Importance of pH Neutralisation in Laboratory Construction
Whether it's a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical lab in Dubai, a biotech incubator in Abu Dhabi, or a healthcare testing facility in Sharjah, managing liquid waste safely is essential. pH neutralisation systems treat acidic or alkaline waste before it enters public sewers or on-site treatment plans, ensuring:
Environmental Protection: Preventing pollution of watercourses and ecosystems
Regulatory Compliance: Meeting UK water authority discharge limits and avoiding fines
Safety: Reducing chemical hazards to staff and facilities
Infrastructure Longevity: Protecting drainage systems from corrosive damage
Reputational Value: Demonstrating sustainable waste practices to stakeholders
Introducing the New Compact SUNpH™ System: Big Innovation in a Small Package
What it does
Suncombe's new compact pH Skid units bring your lab's liquid waste back to a neutral pH range, ready for safe discharge. Ideal for smaller-scale waste volumes, these systems are perfect for retrofit or modular installations in tight plantroom or under-sink locations found in many modern UAE laboratories.
What it's made from
Available in a choice of materials to suit your budget and chemical compatibility:
316 Stainless Steel: The industry classic
Duplex Stainless Steel: For enhanced corrosion resistance
Thermoplastics: Lightweight and cost-effective options
Built to GMP Standards
Even though GMP isn't always required for waste streams, Suncombe applies its GMP design philosophy across all systems — ensuring cleanability, robustness, and regulatory peace of mind.
Tested & Trusted
All systems undergo a comprehensive Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) before shipment. UAE customers are welcome to witness the process virtually or in person. Upon delivery, the team completes a Site Acceptance Test (SAT) to ensure flawless performance in your live facility. Remote Monitoring, Elevated
Suncombe's upcoming mobile interface will allow real-time remote monitoring via phone or tablet. With continuous data tracking — including flow, temperature, pressure, pH, power consumption — your records are 21 CFR Part 11 compliant and fully traceable.
Why Construction Professionals in the UAE Are Choosing SUNpH™
For new build and refurbishment projects in the UAE's fast-evolving healthcare, education, biotech, and research sectors, the SUNpH™ system offers unmatched benefits for designers, contractors, and end users:
Plug-and-Play Installation: Pre-assembled and factory-tested for rapid deployment
Compact Footprint: Perfect for tight spaces in labs and plantrooms
Compliance Assurance: Aligns with UK and international environmental discharge standards
Data Integrity: FDA-compliant electronic records for audit-readiness
Customisable Designs: Tailored to specific flow rates and waste chemistries
Applications Across Sectors in the UK and UAE
SUNpH™ systems are trusted across the UK's most demanding sectors and are well suited to meet the compliance and innovation needs of the UAE market:
Pharmaceuticals: For high-integrity waste treatment in R&D labs and production lines
Biotechnology: Supporting safe discharge from processing and testing operations
Chemical Manufacturing: Managing extreme pH waste with precision

UK regulator gives thumbs down to household wealth statistics
Britain's statistics regulator ruled on Friday that official data on how rich British households are can no longer be treated as reliable, in another blow to the Office for National Statistics. The suspension of accredited status for the data by the Office for Statistics Regulation comes as the ONS is under investigation by the government over long-running problems with labour market data and follows a significant error in April's inflation data and the suspension of producer price figures. "Declining response rates and a lack of investment have significantly impacted the quality of the survey data, which measures the financial wellbeing of households across Great Britain," the regulator said. The most recent version of the wealth data, published in January, stated that the median British household had wealth of 293,700 pounds ($397,552), with the top 10% of households being worth at least 1.2 million pounds and the bottom 10% under 16,500 pounds. The regulator said the survey, which began in 2006, had provided "crucial economic data on assets, savings, debt and retirement planning that informs state pension levels, academic research, and both monetary and fiscal policy development." The regulator said it had given the ONS instructions on how to improve the data and expected a progress report in September. Declining response rates lie at the heart of the problems with the ONS' Labour Force Survey - used to calculate the unemployment rate and inactivity in the labour force, key data points for the government and the Bank of England. The BoE and the regulator have said the fall in responses to the often lengthy ONS surveys appeared sharper than in other countries which collect similar data. MoF organises workshop on Cabinet Resolutions related to outsourcing and instalment of debt collection from Federal Entities
Workshop aims to enhance collection efficiency and support financial sustainability across federal entities Dubai, In a step aimed at enhancing the efficiency of debt collection and supporting financial sustainability across federal entities, the Ministry of Finance (MoF) organised a specialised workshop in Dubai to discuss the provisions of Cabinet Resolution No. (14) and Cabinet Resolution No. (15) of 2025, concerning the outsourcing and instalment of the collection of debts owed to federal entities. The workshop was attended by directors of financial and legal affairs from various federal entities, as well as representatives from the Ministry's Government Revenue and Legal Affairs departments. The session comes as part of the Ministry's ongoing commitment to supporting federal entities in their capacity as creditors and parties responsible for the collection of dues, and to familiarise them with the mechanisms and procedures that allow for greater flexibility in implementing these resolutions. This, in turn, contributes to improving the efficiency of financial collections and raising levels of compliance, in line with Federal Decree-Law No. (15) of 2024. H.E. Saeed Rashid Al Yateem, Assistant Undersecretary for the Government Budget and Revenue Sector at the Ministry of Finance said: 'This workshop reflects the Ministry of Finance's commitment to enhancing transparency and efficiency in managing federal financial resources by empowering entities to implement the Cabinet resolutions on debt collection in a flexible and financially governed manner. Implementing outsourcing and instalment mechanisms is an important step toward advancing the federal financial system and ensuring financial sustainability. At the Ministry, we are keen to provide full support to federal entities and equip them with the tools and mechanisms needed to ensure the swift and effective implementation of these resolutions, thereby strengthening confidence in the federal financial system.' The workshop featured a detailed explanation of the legal and regulatory frameworks related to the Cabinet Resolutions, in addition to discussions around proposed execution models for outsourcing and instalment. The session also addressed how to integrate these mechanisms into the financial systems and procedures of federal entities. Furthermore, it provided a platform to respond to participants' queries and facilitated knowledge exchange among the various concerned parties.
