Some folks unhappy about backed-up traffic downtown because of free 'Yes'Cers' giveaway
While thousands waited in line for their 'Yes'Cers' swag bags downtown, many took to social media to complain about the wait and the traffic jam the Pacers giveaway caused during rush hour.
Major intersections gridlocked as drivers in quest of the Pacers gear formed a one-lane traffic flow to the South Pennsylvania Street side of Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Pacers organization gave out 5,000 swag bags to people in their cars from 4 to 7 p.m. on June 4 one day before the first game of the NBA finals in Oklahoma City.
By 7 p.m., all the bags were gone.
Some people managed to walk up and snag a gift bag, but Pacers Sports & Entertainment officials said they stopped that practice to make sure people waiting inside their vehicles in line had a chance. Just under two hours into the giveaway, officials said they had 2,000 bags left.
Users online shared their frustrations that hosting the event during rush hour traffic was a bad idea and interfered with rush hour traffic even for commuters who had no interest in acquiring a bag.

Demarcus Cousins had his contract terminated by his team in Puerto Rico after being suspended by the league for the remainder of the season for his role in an ugly scene involving fans earlier this week. The Baloncesto Superior Nacional league (BSN) made the announcement on Tuesday after Cousins was ejected from a game on Monday, during which the four-time NBA all-star made contact with multiple fans. Cousins also appeared to cock his fist to threaten another fan who had stood up during the commotion. It didn't end there, though. As the former NBA star was forcibly removed from the floor, he engaged with more fans near the tunnel to the locker room — including grabbing one by the arm. Several drinks were thrown in Cousins' direction as security struggled to get the irate player into the tunnel. According to the New York Post, BSN officials announced that Cousins has been fined $4,250 US – which could be increased to $10,000 — for a disqualifying foul, a technical foul and actions deemed to incite or provoke others. Golden State Warriors labeled as "team to monitor" regarding former NBA champion The Golden State Warriors clearly need front-court reinforcements this summer. Steve Kerr's rotation lacks genuine size, which has been a legitimate issue for multiple years. However, with Draymond Green in the final stages of his career, Kerr can't rely on him to anchor the defense the way he did during his prime. According to Jake Fischer, the Warriors "are always a team to monitor" regarding Bobby Portis. The former champion could help solve some of their front-court issues. Portis, 30, will be an unrestricted free agent this summer and could potentially change teams, especially if the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to get younger to re-tool around Giannis Antetokounmpo. 'Team executives expect Portis to have numerous potential landing spots in the midlevel market as well, although Milwaukee would like to bring back the 30-year-old forward, sources say," Fischer reported via The SteinLine Newsletter. "Golden State has always been a team to monitor for Portis, who has a notable fan in head coach Steve Kerr from their shared days during the 2023 FIBA World Cup competition with USA Basketball.' Portis played in 49 games for the Bucks this season. He averaged 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 assists, shooting 46.6% from the field and 36.5% from 3-point range. He would significantly improve the Warriors front court while adding some much-needed size to the rotation. However, should the Warriors find a way to acquire the former champion, the front office may still try to add a starting-caliber center. David Greenwood, former UCLA star and NBA champion, dies at 68 after cancer battle
LOS ANGELES (AP) — David Greenwood, who was one of coach John Wooden's last recruits at UCLA and went on to win an NBA championship with Detroit during a 12-year pro career, has died. He was 68. Greenwood died Sunday in Riverside, California, after battling cancer, the school said Wednesday, citing family members. After a standout career at Verbum Dei High in Los Angeles, Greenwood began his college career at UCLA just months after Wooden's surprise retirement announcement in March 1975. He averaged 14.8 points and 8.7 rebounds in 118 games as a four-year starter in Westwood. The Bruins had a record of 102-17 and won the league title in each of his four seasons. He was a two-time league player of the year who helped the Bruins to the 1976 Final Four. Greenwood earned first-team All-America honors as a junior and senior, becoming UCLA's first player to do so since Bill Walton in 1972-74. He still ranks fourth on the school's career rebounding list. He was the second overall pick in the 1979 NBA draft. The Chicago Bulls lost the coin toss to the Los Angeles Lakers, who drafted future Hall of Famer Magic Johnson at No. 1, having acquired the pick in a trade with New Orleans. Before Michael Jordan arrived in Chicago in 1984, Greenwood, Reggie Theus and Orlando Woolridge were the Bulls' core players. After six seasons, the Bulls traded Greenwood in 1985 to San Antonio in exchange for future Hall of Famer George Gervin. Greenwood also played for San Antonio, Denver and Detroit, coming off the bench to help the Pistons beat Portland to win the 1990 NBA championship. He was a member of the Pac-12 Hall of Honor and the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame. Last year, Greenwood attended UCLA's final Pac-12 Conference game at Pauley Pavilion. Greenwood later coached at his high school alma mater, leading Verbum Dei to state titles in 1998 and 1999. He is survived by son Jemil and daughter Tiffany as well as his brother Al, sister Laverne and former wife Joyce.
