A former runner-up at the LET event, Amandeep had failed to make any cut in 2024 and lost her card. Last week she played in Belgium on an invite and missed the cut, but in the first round in Czech Ladies in Beroun, she began on the tenth tee and had nine birdies against one bogey.
Competing in just her second Ladies European Tour (LET) event of the season, Amandeep delivered her best-ever round on the LET which was made all the more significant by the fact that she hasn't made a cut on the Tour since October 2023.
Her closest rivals were English women — Lianna Bailey and Florentyna Parker, who both shot 7-under 65 each.
Among the other Indians, rookie Hitaashee Bakshi got off to a fine start with 4-under 68 and was tied 12th, while Avani Prashanth, who at one stage was 3-under through six holes, finished 1-under 71 and was T-43.
Tvesa Malik (72) was T-67, Sneha Singh (73) was T-96 and Vani Kapoor (74) was T-110.
Diksha Dagar, a late starter, was 2-over through seven and way back, while Neha Tripathi, who got into the field following a late withdrawal, was even par through five holes.
Amandeep started on the tenth and parred her first three holes. She followed that up with four birdies in a row and after a par on the 17th, she got her fifth birdie to turn in 5-under.
A. birdie on the first made it six birdies in seven holes. She dropped her only shot on Par-3 fourth but closed with three birdies four holes between the sixth and the ninth.
Hitaashee also started on the tenth and dropped a shot on the 12th, which was her third hole. But she did not drop any more shots and birdied the 15th and the 18th to turn in 1-under. Birdies on the third, fifth and the seventh saw her finish in 4-under.
Avani had birdies on the third, fifth and the seventh to be 3-under, but on the back nine she bogeyed the 11th, 14th and the 16th and had just one birdie on the 12th for a 71.
Another English golfer, Esme Hamilton and Ivory Coast's Alexandra Swayne carded 6-under 66 each to be tied fourth. PTI COR APA APA

IND vs ENG: 'Yes, my Test average hurts, but I don't chase numbers now'- KL Rahul

India's KL Rahul (AP Photo/Scott Heppell) Continuing his remarkable record in challenging SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) conditions, Rahul crafted his third Test hundred on English soil — and sixth overall in SENA — to put India firmly in control of the opening Test. His 195-run partnership with Rishabh Pant pushed India's second innings lead to 370, setting England a daunting 371-run target. Reflecting on his form after the day's play, Rahul told Sky Sports that he no longer obsesses over numbers or milestones. 'I am just getting runs now. There was a time when I would get starts but not convert them into big scores, especially in Tests. I am much calmer in my head and not chasing numbers anymore. I just want to enjoy my cricket as much as I can,' he said. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! He also credited former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar for playing a key role in reviving his approach. 'I have spent a lot of time with him in the last 15-18 months. I went back to basics. Earlier, I focused too much on quality over quantity and did not spend enough time hitting balls. Now, I enjoy spending long hours in the nets,' Rahul added. 09:02 Greenstone Lobo predicts winner of IND vs ENG series | Who Has the Astrological Edge? Rahul's purple patch extends across formats. He starred as India's dependable No.5 during the 2023 ODI World Cup, amassing 452 runs, including India's fastest World Cup ton — a 62-ball century against the Netherlands. Post-World Cup, he embraced the finisher's role, delivering crucial runs during India's ICC Champions Trophy triumph, where he averaged a staggering 140 in four innings. In the IPL too, Rahul rediscovered his aggressive best, scoring 539 runs at a strike rate of nearly 150, his best since 2018 while opening and batting in the top order for Delhi Capitals. After a stint as a middle-order bat, Rahul has returned to his preferred Test opening slot with renewed consistency. Since the Australia tour, he has scored 431 runs in five Tests at an average nearing 48, including this latest Leeds masterclass. Quiz: Who's that IPL player? Despite a career Test average of 34.70, Rahul says he no longer lets statistics cloud his focus. 'Of course, it hurts when I look at my average. But at this stage, I don't want to think about numbers. I want to make an impact whenever I get a chance and enjoy playing Test cricket for India and it's what I grew up loving,' he said. Looking ahead to the final day, Rahul expects a gripping contest as India defends a stiff target. 'When the match started, it looked like a batting paradise and I thought it would be a draw. But now, there's enough wear and tear and the cracks are opening up. It's a perfect day-five wicket and it's going to be a blockbuster,' he said. At stumps on day four, England were 21 for no loss, with Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett navigating six tricky overs without a hiccup. The pair added quick runs to keep the chase alive, leaving the hosts needing 350 more for what would be a record chase at Headingley. Earlier, India's lower order once again faltered, collapsing from 349/6 to 364 all out in under five overs, with only Ravindra Jadeja and the tail adding quick runs at the end. The top five, however, were outstanding — racking up five centuries between them and scoring 721 of India's total runs in the Test. With Pant's twin centuries and Rahul's controlled ton, India hold the advantage heading into what promises to be a riveting final day at Leeds. Karnataka HC Appoints Amicus Curiae in Bengaluru stampede case

The Karnataka high court on Monday appointed senior advocate S Susheela as the amicus curiae to assist the court in the suo motu proceedings it has initiated following the deadly stampede outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on June 4 that killed 11 and injured several others. Fans wave as a bus carrying the IPL 2025 winning Royal Challengers Bengaluru team arrives at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bengaluru, Karnataka, Wednesday, June 4, 2025. (PTI) A bench of acting chief justice V Kameswar Rao and justice CM Joshi said that the amicus curiae must also assist the court on whether the status report filed by the Karnataka government on the stampede in a sealed cover must be kept confidential or whether its contents deserve to be made public. The court directed the state to provide a copy of its status report and all other relevant documents to advocate Susheela, so that she can file her statement of objections. The June 4 stampede took place ahead of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s victory celebration and the high court had initiated suo motu proceedings into the case on June 5. It had posed nine questions to the state government at the time, including who had authorised the event, how crowd control and emergency care had been handled, and whether any prior assessment had been made of the expected turnout. The state that has since maintained that RCB was solely responsible for the large crowd at the stadium and the consequent stampede, had filed its response to the court's questions in a sealed envelope claiming its answers contained sensitive information and could 'prejudice some third parties'. Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty has repeatedly argued that the contents of the state's status report should remain in a sealed cover at least until the ongoing magisterial and a one-man judicial commission inquiries into the case are complete. However, several other lawyers, including those impleaded as parties in the suo motu PIL, have urged the court to make the contents of the report public since the state was accountable to the members of the public. The Bengaluru police has also registered three suo motu FIRs following the stampede and named RCB, event management DNA Entertainment, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association in the FIRs. All three entities have moved the court seeking the FIRs against them be quashed. The state has claimed that the stampede had taken place as RCB announced free entry passes for its victory parade at the stadium following its IPL victory. It has maintained that the entire celebration event was illegal as RCB or DNA had neither sought any requisite permissions, nor implemented safety measures to handle large crowds. The stampede occurred when, on June 4, millions of people gathered at the stadium hoping to watch RCB's victory celebrations. As per the state, while the stadium can accommodate a maximum of 30,000 people, at least 200,000 people had gathered at the spot.

Rishabh Pant Equals Record Of Hitting Most Sixes In A Test In England

Last Updated: Pant hammered 12 fours and 6 sixes for India in the first innings of the first Test and smacked 15 fours and 3 sixes in the second innings. Rishabh Pant scored 134 runs from 178 balls for India in the first innings of the first Test currently underway at Headingley in Leeds and amassed a total of 118 runs from 140 balls in the second. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter hammered 12 fours and 6 sixes in the first innings and smacked 15 fours and 3 sixes in the second innings on Monday (June 23). A total of nine sixes in the ongoing match helped Pant equal the record of hitting the most sixes in a Test match played in England. Before Pant, Andrew Flintoff (vs Australia in Edgbaston in 2005) and Ben Stokes (vs Australia at Lord's in 2023) also scored nine sixes in a Test match in England. Pant, who is India's leading six hitter in the World Test Championship (WTC), overall has hit 82 maximums in 44 Test matches played so far. Apart from equalling the record of hitting the most sixes in a Test match played on English soil, Pant broke many other batting milestones as well on Monday. He became the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score twin centuries in a Test match. Before him, only one wicketkeeper (Andy Flower of Zimbabwe) has scored twin centuries in a Test match. Pant is the overall seventh Indian batter, after Vijay Hazare, Sunil Gavaskar (3 times), Rahul Dravid (2 times), Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, and Rohit Sharma, to score twin centuries in a Test match. Pant has scored four Test centuries in England, which also helps him equal Matt Prior's record of most Test centuries in England by a wicketkeeper-batter. Keepers with most 100s in Tests In the list of wicketkeeper-batters with the most Test centuries, Pant, who has crossed the 100-run mark eight times, is only behind Adam Gilchrist (17) and Flower (12).
