Over 3 million gallons of sewage have been removed in Palm Bay

Yahoo2 days ago

Over 3 million in raw sewage has been removed in Palm Bay Thursday morning.
Channel 9 reported on Wednesday about the spillage into Turkey Creek.
Once the tests come back clean, the hole where the sewage was will be filled.
The pipe holding the sewage was expected to last 80 years, but it gave out after just 37 years, as it was installed at an unusual angle, causing the spillage to occur.

FORECAST: Pop up storms this afternoon

FORECAST: We're drying out from last night's showers, just to rinse and repeat that forecast again! It's going to be hot and humid with highs in the upper 80s, feeling like the low 90s this afternoon. And while the first half of the day is dry, the second half will feature pop-up showers and storm chances again. Similar to the past few days, we'll watch for locally heavy rainfall and flooding issues in areas that storms sit over. Any activity that pops up tonight will slowly clear overnight before we do it again for Father's Day! A similar pattern will continue into next week with temperatures slowly climbing into the low 90s by late week. WATCH ABOVE: The latest forecast update from Severe Weather Center 9. Rain chances slip heading into the weekend in Central Florida

Our chances of rain are starting to slip as we enter the weekend. Dry air moving in from the Caribbean will reduce rain chances and lead to warmer temperatures for the next week. Saturday's best chance of rain is in the middle of the afternoon. Areas west of Orlando will have the best chance of rain during the afternoon. Severe weather is not expected, but can't be ruled out. If you see a stronger storm, the main impact will be 40 mph wind gusts. Father's Day is looking hot. Afternoon highs will reach the low to mid-90s. Rain chances will be higher near the coast. The dry conditions lead to this heat; we won't see many changes over the next week regarding afternoon highs. Click here to download our free news, weather and smart TV apps. Eyewitness Weather for Friday, June 13th: Looking Quiet with Showers Around (Again)!

Eyewitness News Meteorologist Jordan Reed has a look at the weather for the next few days. Things are going to get more active later tonight and into the weekend! Some showers and possibly a few thunderstorms might pop up this evening, especially in the southern areas. It's a little uncertain how far north the rain will get, but there should be at least some wet weather overnight into Saturday. Saturday—Flag Day—will likely stay unsettled, with more chances for showers throughout the day. Looking ahead to Father's Day on Sunday, it'll be cool and cloudy with occasional showers, but no real threat of thunderstorms since the atmosphere won't be unstable enough. Sunday night looks damp, too, with some lingering showers or drizzle. Monday brings a slight warm-up and maybe a few peeks of sun, but scattered showers are still expected. It should start to dry out Monday night, though the clouds will probably stick around. From Tuesday through Thursday, we'll start to feel more like summer. Each day will be a bit warmer, and by midweek, highs should be climbing into the 80s. There's a daily chance for a pop-up shower or storm in the afternoons, thanks to the heat. Then a cold front is expected late Thursday or Thursday night, bringing a better shot at more widespread rain and storms. After that, it'll cool down for Friday, which also marks the official start of summer. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
