Barclays has issued an update for customers pointing to a crucial clue that indicates a message allegedly from the bank is in fact fraudulent. A person reached out to Barclays through social media, questioning the authenticity of a text message they had received.
They included a snapshot of the text they had received, asking: "Is this a legit number for you to use to contact people?" They were sceptical about the content of the message, which stated: "BARCLAYS: Your OTP code to approve a debit of 3733.50 to AVIVA is 44346. If you did NOT do this call us on 0330 133 0198 Ref: BR45."

The dubious message arrived from a number starting with '+447'. Barclays promptly replied with this warning: "I can assure you that we would never text from a number that is +44." The bank also questioned if the customer had any association with AVIVA.

Explaining the reason for this question, Barclays said: "If not, then this would certainly seem to be a scam text in my opinion. If you would like to make sure that your account is safe then you can certainly give a call to our fraud team on 0800 3891 652 and their lines are open 24/7 for you."
The customer replied saying they had no past interactions with AVIVA. Fraudsters sometimes send out convincing texts and emails like this, purporting to be from banks or trusted groups. The messages often direct victims towards fake websites designed to extract personal and financial information.

MacMillan appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court earlier this month, where he pleaded guilty to communicating indecently with the girl between February and March 2023. But there were no bail restrictions placed on him travelling, which means the paedophile dentist has been brazenly jetting out to the sunny Costa Blanca where he has been golfing, relaxing and socialising, despite being on the sex offenders register. A source told The Scottish Sun: 'Locals are up in arms at the fact that he's been so brazen in coming over and cockily carrying on as though nothing has happened. 'He's been the talk of the community ever since the initial sting. We can't believe he's been allowed to come out here and mix freely with kids in bars and swimming pools. 'While others' lives have been shattered thanks to his depraved actions, MacMillan appears to be brazenly sticking two fingers up to the Scottish legal system. 'It's winding people up the way he's swanning round without a care in the world. It really is disgraceful.' It is understood he has been banned from visiting the communal pool in the laid-back expat community where his mum and dad stay. But last week, shameless MacMillan, of Dalkeith, Midlothian, was spotted enjoying a round of golf at the luxury Campoamor Resort in Orihuela Costa where his name was listed as a tournament player. He was also seen loitering topless on his balcony before smiling and chatting with his buddies on the sun-drenched fairways. Disgraced paedo lawyer rubs shoulders with MPs at key legal meeting - after being exposed as sick pervert It is also understood that the sicko has been learning Spanish and has plans to move to the country in the future. But MacMillan faces potentially being jailed when he returns to Scotland for sentencing. The court previously heard MacMillan and the girl, of Newcastle, chatted before she sent him an image of herself performing a sex act. He then began sending her a string of sickening voice notes. In one message, MacMillan told her: 'When daddy asks you to do something you better do it or there will be trouble.' The disturbing messages were discovered by the child's horrified mother. Members of a vigilante group then confronted him at his former home in Strathaven, Lanarkshire, and cops were alerted. After pleading guilty he was put on the sex offenders register and bailed. He has been suspended from working in dentistry by regulators since March 2023. MacMillan will be sentenced next month.

Disturbing new text evidence from stuntwoman suing Kevin Costner over ‘unscripted' rape scene and ‘abuse of power'

The lawsuit is seeking damages and an apology 'ABOMINATION' Disturbing new text evidence from stuntwoman suing Kevin Costner over 'unscripted' rape scene and 'abuse of power' Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A STUNTWOMAN'S lawsuit against Kevin Costner claiming that she was subjected to a "violent" unscripted rape scene has been amended to include disturbing alleged texts. Devyn LaBella, 34, alleged in one message there had been an 'abuse of power.' She has alleged that she was subjected to an unscripted rape scene without proper warning, consent or protocols while shooting Costner's film Horizon: An American Saga: Chapter 2. Costner, 70, who was acting as well as directing on set for the movie, has denied all the allegations. His lawyer has denied there was "anything sexual in the shot." LaBella amended her lawsuit on June 18 to include alleged text messages, reported the US Weekly. READ MORE US NEWS BITE ME Alligator attacks kayakers leaving woman's arm SEVERED - one man fought the beast The publication claimed that it had seen new evidence submitted against Costner and his production firm Territory Pictures. The shoot included a planned sexual assault scene, shot in May of 2023, that LaBella performed much of because of its violent and physical nature, the initial lawsuit said. LaBella's lawsuit said she was the stunt double for one of the Horizon leads, Ella Hunt, 27, throughout the Western. For the initial scene, protocols were followed, including meetings, rehearsals, the presence of an intimacy coordinator and minimal crew, the lawsuit stated. But it alleged that the following day, in an unscripted scene with no warning, rehearsal or choreography, Costner directed an actor to pin LaBella down on a wagon and simulate rape. The lawsuit claimed that Costner asked for many takes as he experimented with the violent action and did not make it clear when a shot was beginning or ending. Hollywood Earnings Showdown: The Rock Tops 2024 The amended lawsuit includes alleged text messages LaBella claimed to have exchanged with the film's intimacy coordinator, Celeste Cheney, the day after the alleged scene was shot. LaBella wrote in the alleged text, dated May 3, 'Hi Celeste... I wanted to discuss yesterdays abomination when we both have a chance. "Are you around today? I was put in a really wrong position and it's really affected me." INTIMACY According to the Weekly, Cheney replied, "Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this, Devyn. Yes, of course, let's talk it through." In a further alleged message, LaBella reportedly asked the coordinator, 'Why was there no intimacy coordinator?' The Weekly claimed that she also allegedly texted, 'Why was a stunt double doing this non stunt work — especially given the sensitivity of it? 'Who is gonna take responsibility for the abuse of power …' EXPLICIT ACTION These questions were among more than a dozen that LaBella allegedly asked Cheney in relation to the scene. For example, the amended lawsuit said she also allegedly asked, "how did lining up a shot turn into a rape sequence?" and "why was sensitive and explicit action commanded when it wasn't in the script?" The Weekly claimed that Cheney later wrote an incident report in which she allegedly noted that 'apologies were made to Ella [Hunt] and Devyn by various parties involved.' COSTNER'S ATTORNEY RESPONDS Costner's attorney, Martin Singer, has rejected LaBella's claims. He said in a statement, "Ms. LaBella was doing a rehearsal on an insert shot for a scripted scene." Any shot whose only objective is to draw the viewer's attention to a single aspect inside a scene is referred to as an insert shot, according to the Nashville Film Institute. Singer told The U.S. Sun, "There was no intimacy or anything sexual in the shot. "There was tugging on a dress while she was fully clothed in a dress with long bloomers lying down next to a male actor. "Numerous witnesses have contradicted Ms. LaBella's meritless claims. "She herself texted her supervisor after she wrapped stating, 'Thank you for these wonderful weeks.' "We look forward to the swift end of this specious lawsuit.' REHEARSED It followed his previous statement on the lawsuit when it was lodged. He said last month, "The scene in question was explained to Ms. LaBella. "After she performed the rehearsal in character with another actor, she gave her stunt coordinator supervisor a thumbs up and indicated her willingness to then shoot the scene, if needed (which she was not)." He added, "That night, Ms. LaBella had dinner with her supervisor, the stunt coordinator, and with the assistant stunt coordinator, and she was in good spirits and made no complaints to them. "She continued to work on the movie for a few more weeks until her wrap date, and she took the stunt coordinator to a thank-you dinner." DAMAGES The lawsuit seeks damages in an amount to be determined at trial. It also seeks a judge's order for the defendants to undergo sexual harassment training, to be required to use an intimacy coordinator on future productions and to issue LaBella a public apology. Costner has spent 30 years trying to make the ambitious, four-part Western epic Horizon: An American Saga. The first part was released in June 2024. But plans to release the second immediately afterwards were put on hold after the poor box office performance of part one.

There are different ways to qualify for the Warm Home Discount scheme based on where you live. Households in England and Wales are eligible if they fit into two "core" groups. Core group one applies to households where someone receives the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit. Core group two applies to households on the following benefits: Housing Benefit income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) income-based Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA) Income Support the "Savings Credit" part of Pension Credit Universal Credit How to cut energy costs and get help with FOUR key household bills You will need to have been claiming either the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit or the other qualifying benefits on August 24 this year to be eligible for the Warm Home Discount in 2025/26. Households in Scotland are also bunched into two groups based on their circumstances. Those on the Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit, known as "core group", get the £150 discount automatically applied. Other Scottish households in the "broader group" on certain means-tested benefits qualify for the discount but have to apply via their energy firm. Energy firms should tell you what benefits qualify you for the discount and may set extra criteria for you to meet as well. For the 2024/25 year, households in England, Wales or Scotland in core group two or the broader group had to live in a property with a high energy cost score as well be on benefits to qualify for the Warm Home Discount. However, this criteria has been scrapped for this winter meaning 2.7million more households will get it. You can still qualify for the Warm Home Discount if you have a prepayment meter. Your supplier will tell you how you'll get a discount. This might be a voucher you can use to top up your meter. If you qualify for the Warm Home Discount, you should receive a letter telling you. These are usually sent between October and January. OTHER ENERGY BILL HELP If you don't qualify for the Warm Home Discount you might be able to get help with energy bills through the Household Support Fund. The current round of the fund is worth £742million and has been shared between councils in England. They then have to distribute their share and set their own eligibility criteria on who can get help. You might be able to get free money direct into your bank account or vouchers to cover the cost of energy. If you've fallen into energy debt, you might be able to get a grant to wipe it clear through your energy firm too.
