KUWAIT CITY, May 30: The Hajj season officially commenced this morning as the first groups of Kuwaiti pilgrims departed from Kuwait International Airport through Terminals 1 and 4, bound for the Holy Land. The spiritual journey began with a sense of serenity and efficiency, reflecting months of careful planning and coordination by relevant authorities.
Kuwait Airways and Saudi Airlines operated the initial flights, carrying approximately 200 pilgrims on each, with the first Kuwait Airways flight from Terminal 4 heading to Jeddah. The departure lounges were filled with an atmosphere of devotion, as families bid emotional farewells to their loved ones embarking on this sacred journey.
In a statement by Mansour Al-Hashemi, Director of Operations at Kuwait Airport under the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), it was confirmed that two flights took off this morning, marking the beginning of Hajj pilgrimage operations. A total of 36 flights are scheduled to depart by the end of Monday, transporting nearly 8,000 Kuwaiti pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Al-Hashemi outlined the DGCA's extensive preparations, which include deploying field teams from the Operations Department in coordination with the Ministries of Awqaf, Health, and Interior, as well as Customs and ground service providers. These teams are tasked with guiding and assisting pilgrims throughout the departure process.
To streamline the experience, authorities have implemented several measures: special counters have been designated for pilgrims, boarding passes are being distributed in advance or upon arrival at the airport, and customs procedures have been expedited to avoid delays and congestion.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has also set up dedicated booths in the departure halls to distribute informational brochures, educating pilgrims on the rituals of Hajj and ensuring they are well-prepared for the spiritual experience.
Pilgrims interviewed by Al-Seyassah expressed appreciation for the smooth and highly organized procedures, praising the high standards of care and planning. The efforts by all involved agencies aim to ensure that the "Guests of God" begin their journey with comfort, safety, and peace of mind.

KUWAIT CITY, June 1: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah conducted an inspection tour of Kuwait International Airport on Saturday to assess preparations and operational readiness for the upcoming Hajj and summer travel seasons. In a statement, the Ministry of Interior said the visit reflects Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef's ongoing commitment to overseeing on-site operations and ensuring the efficiency and preparedness of the airport's security and service sectors. During the tour, Sheikh Fahad reviewed procedures within passenger terminals, passport control areas for arrivals and departures, and the visa issuance hall. He also received a detailed briefing on the visa issuance process through the official "Kuwait Visa" platform, along with an overview of the coordination mechanisms between the Ministry of Interior, the General Administration of Customs, and the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. Sheikh Fahad stressed the importance of mobilizing all available resources to serve travelers effectively, streamline procedures, and maintain high levels of security readiness. Wives who lost their citizenship can travel with Kuwaiti passport
KUWAIT: The interior ministry announced on Thursday that thousands of wives of Kuwaiti men who had their citizenship revoked in the past year will be allowed to travel abroad using their Kuwaiti passport during the summer months. The ministry however added that such women must prove that they have started the process of obtaining their original country's identity to avail of this facility and be treated like Kuwaitis. Over the past year, Kuwait revoked the citizenship of over 29,000 foreign women who were naturalized after getting married to Kuwaiti husbands since 1987. Authorities said the measure was taken because of a legal error in granting Kuwaiti citizenship to them. The ministry said in a statement on Thursday that such women can travel overseas using their Kuwaiti passport only between June 1 and September 30 this year. But they must commit to start the process of reverting to their original nationality through their embassies in Kuwait, adding that all women have only one year to return to their original identity, starting June 1. After obtaining their original country's passport, the women will be given an official residency in Kuwait, the statement said. The ministry warned that obtaining their original country's passport is a precondition to availing of the special benefits that will be given to them by the government, mainly treating them like Kuwaitis. The women must show that they have started the process to obtain their nationality within the first three months of the one-year period, ending on Aug 31, the ministry said. Amending their nationality status does not prevent the women from submitting grievances against revoking their Kuwaiti citizenship to a special committee set up by the government, the ministry added. The ministry also said that after obtaining their country's passport, women will be issued new civil IDs carrying their nationality and stating that they will be treated like Kuwaitis.
