Matthew Selt has been given a three-month suspended ban and fined £10,000 for "rude and aggressive" behaviour at the 2024 Saudi Arabia Masters. The Englishman was charged with three breaches of governing body the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) code of conduct at September's event in Riyadh.Selt angrily conceded defeat against China's Pang Junxu in the fourth round after missing a straightforward pot, losing 5-3.The world number 30 was accused of displaying aggressive behaviour and using rude and abusive language towards an executive from promoter Matchroom and a fellow WPBSA member. The 39-year-old, who is vice-chairman of the WPBSA players' association, was also accused of sending an abusive text to a fellow member. The WPBSA said Selt accepted all three charges and has made a "full and wholehearted apology" to the persons concerned. It also accepted that Selt was under "a significant amount of stress and pressure" at the time. The suspension will be activated if there are further breaches before the end of the 2025-26 season. As well as the fine, Selt was ordered to pay £11,000 towards the WPBSA's legal costs.

The key numbers behind Raith Rovers' move for first summer signing Jai Rowe
Raith Rovers' first signing of the summer, Jai Rowe, has not come from the usual merry-go-round of players available in Scottish football. For a right-back, the recruit from England's National League has come from somewhat leftfield. The 23-year-old had been offered a new deal at former club Boston United, but has instead opted for a new challenge in the Scottish Championship. Courier Sport has taken a look at the numbers that have made the promising defender attractive to Raith. Rowe turns 24 on August 8 but has already packed a lot into his career. Starting out in first-team football with Barwell in England's seventh-tier at the age of just 16, he now has seven seasons under his belt. With three of those years spent in League Two, the full-back has built up a considerable amount of top-team experience for someone his age. Raith will be optimistic the Englishman can hit the ground running at Stark's Park. Rowe has penned a two-year deal with Rovers, and will welcome the stability after going summer to summer down south. Vice-captain Ross Matthews has signed on for just one more year and Callum Smith has agreed only six months as he completes his comeback from a serious knee injury. Previously, others have been handed only 12-month agreements and shorter. So, two years is an indication Raith do not see Rowe as much of a gamble and they expect him to make an impact not just next season but in 2026/27 as well. Rowe featured in 55 games for Boston last season – every single match they played. Of those 55 matches, incredibly he started 52, with his three substitute's outings coming in the league against York City, FC Halifax Town and AFC Fylde. He was Boston's most consistent performer, topping their appearance charts. With Raith having struggled with injuries and consistency at times last term, they will be hoping Rowe can continue being available and dependable. For a full-back, Rowe's goal-scoring statistics are impressive. He has netted 22 times over the course of his career so far, and comes north after his most prolific campaign. The versatile and athletic player was Boston's second-top scorer last season with nine goals in his 55 appearances. It is clear he will add something to Raith in attack as well as defence. Rovers will be hopeful Rowe provides the answer to what has become something of a problem position of late. Over the last two seasons, they have had four right-backs come and go without settling. Ross Millen was a regular but was frozen out due to a disagreement behind the scenes midway through season 2023/24. Since then, James Brown on loan from St Johnstone, ex-Dundee United defender Kieran Freeman and one-time Chelsea youngster Fankaty Dabo have failed to prove themselves a long-term fit on the right side of Raith's defence.

World's most valuable players revealed as Jude Bellingham leapfrogs Erling Haaland… but lags behind Lamine Yamal
Two Englishman rank on the list while a Ballon d'Or candidate fails to make the cut TOP BILLING World's most valuable players revealed as Jude Bellingham leapfrogs Erling Haaland… but lags behind Lamine Yamal Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) FOOTBALL'S most valuable superstars have been revealed. This summer the Club World Cup has seen the creation of a unique transfer window format, with the shopping window open twice after a closure in the middle. 7 The 10 most expensive players in the world have been revealed Credit: Alamy 7 Jude Bellingham ranks joint second behind Lamine Yamal Credit: Getty 7 Erling Haaland is the Premier League's most expensive star Credit: Getty 7 Kylian Mbappe has seen his stock rise following his Real Madrid switch Credit: Getty 7 Bukayo Saka makes one of two English players on the list Credit: Getty June 10 represents the end of the first stage of the window, before it reopens on June 16 and runs through to September 1. And for any clubs looking to splash some serious cash on one of world football's best stars, figures from Transfermarkt have revealed the current top 10 most valuable players. Kicking the list off at number 10 is the oldest player on the list, Federico Valverde. The 26-year-old has been a top star for Real Madrid for a number of years and consequently he has a huge transfer value of £110million (€130m). Three stars have an identical value of £118m (€140m) from nine down to seven, and are all 22 years of age. Germany stars Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz both ply their trade in the Bundesliga for Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen, respectively, while Spain star Pedri plays for Barcelona in La Liga. Pedri's value has increased from £101m in the last edition of the figures in March, no doubt due to Barcelona's league-winning campaign and semi-final Champions League run. BEST ONLINE CASINOS - TOP SITES IN THE UK However, of the three, only Wirtz has been linked with a mega-money transfer away from his club, with Liverpool trying to find a middle ground with Bayer over a fee. The Reds' latest offer saw them submit an offer worth £113m, although that is still some way short of the £126m Erik ten Hag's new outfit want to sell. New footage sees raging Jude Bellingham KICK VAR monitor in frustration after Real Madrid's last-gasp defeat The sixth player on the list is valued at £126m (€150m) and is the first English star to be named, Arsenal's Bukayo Saka. The 23-year-old's ability speaks for itself, and England saw how much they missed his flair and creativity against Andorra at the weekend. Getting into the top five, Brazil superstar Vinicius Jr was previously the joint most expensive star on the list at £169m (€200m). However, a disappointing season that left Real Madrid without a trophy saw his value decrease to £143m (€170m), which now ranks the 24-year-old ranked fifth. Just above him is team-mate Kylian Mbappe, who despite having the same lack of silverware has actually seen his value increase to £152m (€180m). That figure is identical to former Borussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham. 7 Manchester City ace Haaland, 24, was previously valued at £169m, but like Vinicius, suffered a slight reduction after seeing his club fail to win a major trophy. Bellingham, 21, managed to escape the same fate and has remained on the £152m valuation. However, those figures place the trio behind Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal. Yamal is one of the front-runners for the Ballon d'Or as a result of his stellar season for his club. He saw his value increase to now make the 17-year-old the single most expensive player in world football. Yamal only recently signed a new contract with Barcelona that will see him earn £33.5m per year. Cole Palmer narrowly missed out on the top 10 after seeing his value fall to £102m, putting him level with Declan Rice and Alexander Isak. Former Crystal Palace star Michael Olise is now in the top 20 after seeing his value rise to £85m. This matches Alexis Mac Allister and Phil Foden, the latter of whom has lost almost £25m in value. Champions League winners Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia have gone up in value to now be worth £76m, with Ballon d'Or candidate Ousmane Dembele valued the same.

Hamilton Accies goalkeeper exits after frustrating spell
Charlie Albinson joins Reghan Tumilty, Sean McGinty and Nikolay Todorov out the door at Accies Hamilton Accies have parted company with goalkeeper Charlie Albinson as boss John Rankin gets set to begin preparations for their League One campaign. The Accies boss will return from holiday tomorrow and it is expected the club will be able to finalise their list of retained and released players in the coming days. Lanarkshire Live Sport understands Albinson, 28, had a relegation release clause in his contract and is already working on a move to a new club. He joins a list of players to be released in the last few weeks, including SPFL Trust Trophy final hero Reghan Tumilty. Defender Sean McGinty has left to join local rivals Airdrieonians and striker Nikolay Todorov has also departed. Englishman Albinson joined Accies from Ayr United last summer and made 21 appearances. He fell out of favour at New Douglas Park and his last outing for the club came back on January 28 in a 3-0 home defeat to Raith Rovers. Where Hamilton Accies are playing league games next season is yet to be confirmed with the SPFL still to ratify the club's tenancy agreement with North Lanarkshire Council to play at Broadwood Stadium on a temporary basis. Accies announced in May they were leaving New Douglas Park after failing to secure a deal to buy the stadium from its current owners. Accies will play their 'home' games in the Premier Sports Cup next month at K-Park in East Kilbride after a deal was struck to host matches there while a new pitch is laid at Broadwood over the next few weeks. Rankin's men are due to travel to Lowland League side Caledonian Braves on June 20 for their first pre-season friendly, the same day the SPFL fixtures will be released. The clash is one of four pre-season friendlies planned although a full list hasn't yet been released by the club. Bellshill Athletic have announced they will play an Accies XI on Wednesday, July 9.
