
Air India to reduce flights on international routes, suspend operations to three cities till July 15
New Delhi [India], June 20 (ANI): Air India said on Thursday that it will reduce flights on various internationa routes per week and temporarily suspend operations on three routes from June 21 to July 15, 2025.
This comes nearly a week after the June 12 AI-17 plane crash, involving a Boeing 787 in Gujarat's Ahmedabad.
'Further to the press statement released yesterday, 18 June 2025, which announced a temporary reduction in services operated by Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft, we wish to provide details on the flights affected. These reductions will be effective from 21 June 2025, and last until at least 15 July 2025,' the airline said in a post on X.
'The reductions arise from the decision to voluntarily undertake enhanced pre-flight safety checks, as well as accommodate additional flight durations arising from airspace closures in the Middle East. The objective is to restore schedule stability and minimise last-minute inconvenience to passengers,' it said.

It further said, 'Details of the flights affected are as follows: 1. Routes suspended until 15 July 2025:- Delhi-Nairobi (AI961/962) - 4x weekly flights*- Amritsar-London (Gatwick) (AI169/170) - 3x weekly flights- Goa (Mopa)-London (Gatwick) (AI145/146) - 3x weekly flights. '
'2. Routes with reduced frequency until 15 July 2025: North America- Delhi-Toronto: Reduced from 13x weekly to 7x weekly- Delhi-Vancouver: Reduced from 7x weekly to 5x weekly- Delhi-San Francisco: Reduced from 10x weekly to 7x weekly- Delhi-Chicago: Reduced from 7x weekly to 3x weekly- Delhi-Washington (Dulles): Reduced from 5x weekly to 3x weekly,' the airline said.
'Europe- Delhi-London (Heathrow): Reduced from 24x weekly to 22x weekly- Bengaluru-London (Heathrow): Reduced from 7x weekly to 6x weekly- Amritsar-Birmingham and Delhi-Birmingham: Reduced from 3x weekly to 2x weekly- Delhi-Paris: Reduced from 14x weekly to 12x weekly- Delhi-Milan: Reduced from 7x weekly to 4x weekly- Delhi-Copenhagen: Reduced from 5x weekly to 3x weekly- Delhi-Vienna: Reduced from 4x weekly to 3x weekly- Delhi-Amsterdam: Reduced from 7x weekly to 5x weekly,' it said, adding that Australia - Delhi-Melbourne and Delhi-Sydney: Reduced from 7x weekly to 5x weekly.
'Far East- Delhi-Tokyo (Haneda): Reduced from 7x weekly to 6x weekly- Delhi-Seoul (Incheon): Reduced from 5x weekly to 4x weekly**' it added.
The airline said, '*Suspended until 30 June.**To operate 3x weekly from 21 June to 5 July, and 4x weekly from 6 July to 15 July.'
'Air India apologises to the passengers affected by these curtailments, and is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer re-accommodation on alternative flights, complimentary rescheduling or full refunds as per their preference,' it added.
On June 12, the London-bound Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed into a hostel complex of BJ Medical College in the Meghani Nagar area of Gujarat's Ahmedabad shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.
The tragedy claimed 241 lives out of 242 onboard, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani. (ANI)

Several Air India flights cancelled due to maintenance, bad weather, and airspace restrictions
New Delhi [India], June 20 (ANI): Air India has cancelled several international and domestic flights on Friday due to increased aircraft checks, bad weather, and airspace restrictions. Affected flights include services between Dubai, Chennai, Delhi, Melbourne, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. As per the statement from Air India, 'Air India's international flights AI906 from Dubai to Chennai; AI308 from Delhi to Melbourne; AI309 from Melbourne to Delhi; AI2204 from Dubai to Hyderabad and domestic flights AI874 from Pune to Delhi; AI456 from Ahmedabad to Delhi; AI-2872 from Hyderabad to Mumbai and AI571 from Chennai to Mumbai have been cancelled due to enhanced maintenance and operational reasons.' The airline has offered full refunds or free rescheduling and is helping passengers with alternate travel plans. 'We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. Our colleagues on ground are making alternative arrangements for them to fly to their respective destinations at the earliest. Full refunds on cancellation or complimentary rescheduling has been offered to passengers,' the statement reads. Govt imposes import restrictions on certain gold-containing precious metal alloys to prevent gold imports in disguised form
New Delhi [India], June 20 (ANI): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced new import restrictions on certain precious metal alloys containing gold, as well as colloidal metals and chemical compounds. These steps have been taken to strengthen regulatory oversight and prevent misuse of trade channels for importing gold in disguised forms. The ministry in a statement stated that it 'has issued Notification No. 18/2025-26 dated 17th June 2025, to restrict import of alloys of Palladium, Rhodium, and Iridium containing more than 1 per cent gold by weight'. In an official notification dated June 17, 2025, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued Notification No. 18/2025-26 to restrict the import of alloys. This move is part of a broader strategy to regulate the import of precious metals and their alloys. This restriction expands the existing rule that earlier applied only to platinum, as outlined in Notification No. 60/2024-25 dated March 5, 2025. With this update, the government has now brought the entire Customs Tariff Heading (CTH) 7110 under the restricted import category at the 4-digit level. This ensures a uniform and consistent policy framework for all precious metals and their related alloys. However, the government has adopted a balanced approach by allowing the free import of alloys containing less than 1 per cent gold. This provision ensures that industrial and manufacturing sectors, including electronics, auto components, and specialised chemical industries, are not impacted. The aim is to maintain the smooth availability of essential raw materials while also keeping a check on gold misuse. In a separate notification, DGFT also issued Notification No. 19/2025-26 on the same date to restrict imports of colloidal metals and chemical compounds classified under CTH 2843. This measure was necessary to prevent the import of gold disguised as chemical compounds. To avoid disruptions for genuine industrial users, the import of these colloidal metals and compounds will be permitted against import authorisation for sectors such as electronics, electrical, and specialised chemical industries. This ensures that the needs of domestic industries are met without loopholes being exploited. The government's recent measures reflect a calibrated trade policy approach, balancing the ease of doing business for industry with tighter control to curb irregular gold imports. (ANI)
