Milwaukee will see 70-degree, sunny weather Friday afternoon, followed by rain all weekend

Yahoo28-03-2025

In true Wisconsin fashion, Milwaukee will kick off the weekend with sunny, 70-degree weather, followed by a swing back to 40 degrees Saturday, and even chances of snow later in the weekend.
Stormy weather will move out of the Milwaukee area by 9 or 10 a.m. Friday morning, followed by a warm front of gusty, southwest winds, according to J.J. Wood, meteorologist for the Milwaukee/Sullivan National Weather Service. By the afternoon, most of southeast Wisconsin will see partly sunny weather with highs in the low to mid 70s.
"It'll feel rather spring- or even summer-like, at least for today," Wood said.
But it won't last long. Though temperatures will linger in the upper 50s and low 60s overnight and Saturday morning, a cold front will move through the Milwaukee area tomorrow afternoon, Wood said. By late Saturday, expect 40-degree weather with steady rain.
The rain will start up Saturday morning and then persist throughout Sunday, with chances of thunderstorms especially near Racine and Kenosha.
"There is a chance we could see rain change over to some snow," Wood said. "But that may not be until Sunday night into Monday morning, and at this point, we're not expecting big amounts of snow."
Monday afternoon is expected to bring gusty winds, 30-degree weather and wet snow to the Milwaukee area — just in time for the Milwaukee Brewers' home opener.
"We're in the transition season now," Wood said. "We can get some real warm days, followed by some real cold days, with a quick-passing cold front."

Where wildfire smoke will lower air quality across the Midwest and Northeast

Surges of wildfire smoke are expected across central and eastern states through the end of the week as winds blow from Canada. Early Wednesday, air quality levels were unhealthy to very unhealthy across eastern Montana and North Dakota — ranking as some of the worst air quality on the planet. This area of smoke and reduced air quality, largely stemming from new fires in British Columbia, will spread to Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan later in the day.

Storms move through southern Wisconsin Sunday afternoon before more rain later in the week

Widespread rain showers, and possibly some stronger storms, will move through southern Wisconsin Sunday afternoon before more chances for precipitation later in the week. The line of storms is expected to reach the Madison area between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and move into Milwaukee between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The storms should wrap up by 4 p.m., though scattered rain could develop and continue into the evening hours, National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Wagner said. "We have a cold front that's pushing through across Wisconsin," Wagner said. "We're getting these showers right along that boundary." A few spots could see stronger storms, with the main concerns being lightning, gusty winds and hail up to a half inch in diameter. The rest of the week has several chances for rain and thunderstorms, including another round of showers Monday afternoon in the Milwaukee area. "Overall, (we're) not expecting too much in the way of a severe threat," Wagner said. "Still can't rule out an isolated stronger storm or two." Tuesday and Wednesday should stay dry and sunny, with a high reaching 84 degrees on Wednesday — by far the warmest day of the week and about 8 degrees above the normal high for June 11. Possible showers and thunderstorms return Wednesday night and continue through Saturday, with about a 50% chance of precipitation each day. It's a too far out to tell if there's any severe potential, Wagner said. "We're kind of in our typical summertime pattern," Wagner said. No severe weather, but two rounds of rain & t-storms expected today

The Latest from Storm Team 5… Good morning! We are starting off this Sunday fairly quiet with a mix of sun and clouds, but a cold front is moving into NW WI with a line of rain and storms attached to it. No severe weather is in the forecast today, but I am expecting the rain and storms to arrive in two rounds today. A widespread round one will move in around 8-9 a.m. out west, exiting the lakeshore about 3-4 p.m. At the same time, a few isolated rain and storms will likely flare up in central WI and move in throughout the late PM and early evening. No severe weather is expected, but a few stronger storms producing brief downpours and gusty winds are possible. Highs today will be a bit cooler then yesterday, in the upper 60s and lower to middle 70s with a mix of sun and clouds. Just keep those eyes on the sky if you are headed to Walleye Weekend Day 3. Tonight, increasing clouds with a stray shower late, lows in the low to middle 50s. More showers and a few isolated rumbles of thunder are possible on Monday, especially in the morning. Highs will only manage the lower to middle 60s. Two day rain totals will range from 0.25-0.75″, isolated higher. Much nicer weather arrives Tuesday into Wednesday, with highs in the 70s and eventually pushing 80 mid week. For all your latest updates on the weather, follow Ryan on Facebook, X and Instagram.
