Security forces conduct mockdrills in Kashmir ahead of Amarnath Yatra

Ahead of Amarnath Yatra, security forces conducted mock drills at various places in Kashmir on Wednesday. The yatra will begin on July 3 and will conclude on August 8. The drills were held at various places on the route of yatra, camps and other places. It was part of an exercise to meet any contingency.
Inspector general of police Vidhi Kumar Birdi said that the Amarnath yatra begins from next week and J&K Police and other security agencies had made all the security arrangements. 'Compared to previous years this time in depth and multi-layered security arrangements have been made for security of yatra. We have distributed security of yatra in zones and sectors and today in Kashmir at every place weather camps, roads or interior sections SOP drills were conducted. The aim of these drills is to make constigency response more refined.'
J&K Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and chief minister Omar Abdullah had already urged yatris to visit in good numbers as adequate security arrangements are already in place.

Train services were disrupted on Thursday morning in the outskirts of Hyderabad after a woman drove a car on a railway track, PTI reported, citing police. The woman drove the car in Shankarpally for nearly eight kilometres. As per the preliminary information, two goods trains and two passenger trains were disrupted for 20 minutes, the report citing people aware of the development. The report further claimed that the woman tried to confront the police officials when they tried to stop the car. However, the police managed to stop her and sent her for medical tests, a police official told PTI. The woman was previously working in a software company. A case will be registered by the railway police, the official said. The windows of the car were severely damaged after the crash, while the police rescued the driver and took her into custody. It was later revealed that she was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, according to a report by News18. The police also recovered her driving licence and PAN card from the vehicle," it added. Meanwhile, on June 20, train services on the Western Railway were disrupted after the Overhead Equipment (OHE) near Palghar station snapped, 100 km from Mumbai, reported PTI. The OHE on the UP line towards Churchgate was repaired by 10:35 pm, over three and a half hours after the break, according to the Western Railway (WR) late at night. Measures were also taken to restore the OHE on the line towards Dahanu. The incident took place around 6:55 pm, causing significant delays and cancellations on the Vasai Road-Dahanu Road section. Hundreds of passengers were stranded at multiple suburban stations. The authorities cancelled seven suburban local trains, most of which were headed to Dahanu, while at least nine trains were halted at different stations due to an OHE problem on the Western Railway, along with eight goods trains.

My father never regretted decision to disqualify Indira
Lucknow: Justice Jagmohanlal Sinha, whose historic verdict on June 12, 1975, disqualifying the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, sparked a chain of events culminating in a 21-month-long Emergency, never 'regretted' his decision. 'My father neither regretted delivering the judgment, for he did what was right. For him it was yet another case; he decided on merit and facts,' Justice (retired) Vipin Sinha, son of Justice Jagmohanlal Sinha, told PTI in a telephonic interview. 'What's more, nobody could say that he later tried to extract any benefit for the order to disqualify the then PM from this regime or that. Nobody can say that he was the beneficiary of the order,' Justice (retired) Vipin Sinha said. An Emergency was imposed in India from June 25, 1975 to March 21, 1977, with then president Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed issuing an order under Article 352 of the Constitution citing prevailing 'internal disturbance' for the decision that witnessed unprecedented suppression of fundamental rights, sparking widespread resentment. He said his father, Justice Jagmohanlal Sinha, was never afraid of the decision he would be making. 'He wouldn't have delivered the judgment had he felt afraid or anything. 'He must have been aware of the consequences, that too against Mrs Indira Gandhi, who at that point in time was all powerful. The easiest way out would have been to dismiss the petition, but he didn't do that,' Justice (retd) Vipin said. 'When the Emergency was imposed, I was in class XI. Yes, there were occasional anonymous calls threatening my father that he would be arrested soon, but from what I remember, there never was any pressure on our family.
