Search for missing vulnerable boy wearing only swim shorts
An extensive search is under way for a 16-year-old boy who was last seen at a seaside resort wearing only his swimming shorts.
Police were alerted at about 14:00 BST on Saturday after Athrun was reported missing from West Shore Beach in Llandudno, Conwy county - close to the boating lake and playpark.
Officers described him as a "vulnerable person" who may walk with an unusual gait.
He has short, dark hair, is about 6ft (183cm) tall and of slim build and is believed to be wearing only blue and white patterned swim shorts and no footwear.
Specialist officers from North Wales Police have been carrying out land, water and airborne searches in the area.
They are being helped by the National Police Air Service, the Search and Rescue Dogs Association, and the HM Coastguard which confirmed it had deployed multiple lifeboats and a helicopter.
Police said the investigation was being treated as a "high-risk missing person inquiry" and urged members of the public to "remain vigilant, but not to place themselves at risk" while searching for Athrun.
Det Ch Insp Simon Kneale asked anyone with photographs taken in the West Shore Beach area on Saturday to contact the force.

Azle fisherman missing after night trip on Eagle Mountain Lake; boat found empty
A search is underway at Eagle Mountain Lake after a North Texas man went missing during what was supposed to be a routine night fishing trip. According to his family, 41-year-old Ruben Fausone hasn't been seen since Tuesday night. His wife, Amy, said night fishing was something he did often, which is why she's struggling to understand how his boat and phone ended up abandoned — on opposite sides of the lake. Ruben Fausone, 41 Ruben Fausone Family "He went out around 7:45," she said. "We last texted around 8:20. I woke up around 11:45 and thought, 'It's almost midnight, why isn't he home?'" Phone found at marina Amy said her husband's phone last pinged at Augie's Sunset Café and Marina — a location she said Ruben had never mentioned before. With no word from him and worsening weather the next morning, panic set in. "I'm just hoping somebody finds him," she said. She drove to the marina, where someone had found his phone on the dock. Later that afternoon, law enforcement with the Tarrant Regional Water District — now leading the investigation — located his gray and blue fishing boat on the opposite side of the lake. It was floating between two docks, undamaged and unanchored. Witness recalls late-night sighting "The stories are like, he got into his boat and left, and they saw it just drifting in the water at one point," Amy said. Jeff Hunter, who lives nearby, said he saw Ruben speaking with another man on the dock late Tuesday night. Around 2 a.m., he spotted Ruben's boat in the middle of the lake. "On the weekends? Yeah, you might see that," Hunter said. "But a weekday? It's very odd." Amy said her husband would never swim at night. Family pleads for help As search efforts continue, the family is pleading for help. Amy shared that Ruben was last seen wearing a bright teal shirt and hopes someone may recognize him and come forward. "Right now, I'm hoping somebody reaches out and can tell us he's OK," she said. "I just want to find him and make sure he's OK." As of Thursday afternoon, law enforcement said the search is ongoing.

Three girls admit killing 75-year-old in attack filmed on mobile phone
Three teenage girls have admitted killing a 75-year-old man in a street attack filmed on a mobile phone. Fredi Rivero was set upon in Islington, north London, on February 27 and died in hospital the next day. The victim, a Bolivian national, was near a bus stop on Seven Sisters Road when the teenagers got off a bus and surrounded him. The youths, aged 15, 16 and 17, pushed, shoved, kicked and punched him, with one of them filming the incident on her phone and grabbing his glasses. As part of the police investigation, officers recovered CCTV footage of the assault in which the oldest girl was seen to punch the victim in the head causing him to fall backwards. Police were called at 11.25pm to reports of the disturbance and found Mr Rivero unconscious on the pavement with a severe head injury and in cardiac arrest. He was taken to the Royal London Hospital where he later died. On Thursday, the girls, who cannot be identified because of their ages, appeared at the Old Bailey before Judge Judy Khan KC. The girls, who appeared from custody by video link, pleaded guilty to manslaughter. Judge Khan ordered reports and remanded the defendants into custody to be sentenced on September 5. Previously, police have said Mr Rivero was a 'much-loved father' whose family were 'devastated by his death'. Mr Rivero's daughter, ex-wife and cousins attended court for the hearing on Thursday.
