Will a $2 Powerball ticket make you a multimillionaire? Several players in the Saturday, March 29, Powerball lottery drawing, including the jackpot winner, can attest, 'it can happen to you.'
The Powerball jackpot was $515 million, though final ticket sales pushed the grand total to $526.5 million. One ticket purchased at a 7-Eleven in Anaheim, California, about three miles from Disneyland theme park, matched all five numbers plus the Powerball to win.
The jackpot reset to $20 million for the Monday, March 31, Powerball, but that drawing resulted in a rollover for Wednesday, April 2. Check back after 11 p.m. for Wednesday's Powerball, and we'll see if anyone won the $30 million prize or $13.9 million lump sum.
In case you're wondering, Monday's winning numbers were 12-41-44-52-64 and the Powerball was 25. Power Play was 2x.
In addition, the winning numbers for the Powerball lottery drawing on Saturday, March 29, were 7-11-21-53-61 and the Powerball was 2. Power Play was 3x. (Did you notice two of the winning Powerball numbers were 7 and 11?)
Those winning Powerball numbers also resulted in big cash for five other tickets across the country. Two tickets purchased in Georgia and a ticket bought in Ohio, Oregon and Texas each matched 5 for $1 million prizes.
What are the odds? Powerball numbers on 2/22 'angel numbers' day included 22, 2x Power Play

Powerball drawings are held at 11 p.m. EDT Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, including holidays. According to Powerball.com, players have a 1 in 292.2 million chance to match all six numbers. Prizes range from $2 to the grand prize jackpot, which varies. The next Powerball drawing will be Saturday, April 5.
Prizes for Florida Lottery must be claimed within 180 days (six months) from the date of the drawing. To claim a single-payment cash option, a winner has within the first 60 days after the applicable draw date to claim it.
The Florida Lottery says its scratch-off tickets and Fast Play game prizes "must be claimed within 60 days of the official end-of-game date. Once the applicable time period has elapsed, the related Florida Lottery ticket will expire."
According to Florida Lottery's website, winners cannot remain anonymous: "Florida law mandates that the Florida Lottery provide records containing information such as the winner's name, city of residence; game won, date won, and amount won to any third party who requests the information."
However, the site states, the "names of lottery winners claiming prizes of $250,000 or greater will be temporarily exempt from public disclosure for 90 days from the date the prize is claimed, unless otherwise waived by the winner."
Lottery experts and lawyers have said there are ways to remain anonymous if you win.

Video shows Air India plane descending, moment of crash

The BBC has verified video footage showing the Air India passenger flight descending moments before it crashed on Thursday. The video was taken from what appeared to be a residential building and shows the AI171 flight descending over a crowded residential area. In the video, the plane continues to lower down until it disappears briefly behind some buildings and trees. Seconds later, fire and smoke erupt from the crash site. The Boeing 787-7 aircraft was headed for England's London Gatwick Airport and crashed shortly after taking off in the Indian city of Ahmedabad. Of the 242 passengers and crew members on board, 169 were Indian nationals, 53 were British nationals, one was a Canadian national and seven were Portuguese nationals, according to Air India. Ahmedabad police commissioner G.S. Malik said 204 bodies had been recovered from the site but that rescue workers were still searching through the debris and there could be additional survivors from the flight, The New York Times reported. Malik said 41 people were injured, according to the Times, which reported that it was not clear whether that figure referred to passengers or people on the ground. Malik told The Associated Press, however, that chances of finding survivors are slim. 'It appears there are no survivors in the plane crash,' Malik told the AP.

One thing a $100 million Powerball win could buy you that's better than holidays, homes, and cars

Like drinking wine or watching TV, gambling on the lottery is probably a waste of time and money. But an important thing tickets buy most of us is a chance to dream about how a win could change your life. There is $100 million up for grabs in this evening's Powerball draw. The haul the winner will take home is so enormous you could retire, buy a couple of houses, a yacht, take a holiday, and still have plenty to spare. So at the risk of sounding preachy, tonight's draw is probably a good opportunity to think about one important thing — helping others. With $100 million, you could probably buy a parcel of land to prevent the extinction of an entire species, send aid overseas and save human lives, house hundreds of homeless in Australia, or set up a trust to provide long-term support to your charity of choice. There is often little information available about what happens to lottery winners, as they're generally encouraged to stay anonymous in Australia. Related: $100 million Powerball winner reveals how her life has changed A 2024 report created by The Lott, found that 5 per cent of Australian winners didn't tell anyone about their win. Roughly 40 per cent told their immediate family, and 34 per cent told only their partner. Around 40 per cent said they'd helped family and friends, but only 13 per cent said they'd given to charity. Over 50 per cent said they'd invest money in their future, 35 per cent said they'd bought a new car, and seven per cent paid off the mortgages of friends or family. A Sydney mum who won $107 million in 2019 continued working as a nurse. And while she spent money on holidays and nice wine, she also became focused on creating 'a legacy' and supporting charities in ways she couldn't before. 'Paying it forward is really important to us because if you change one person's life, you have the potential to change the whole community,' the anonymous woman said in a 2021 interview with The Lottery Corporation. 'We have already made some really important donations, and we're always thinking a lot about what we want to support next.' When the wins have been smaller, there's been more of a focus on directly helping relatives or friends. A woman from Sydney's western suburbs won over $620,000 in Lotto last Saturday and committed to buying her granddaughter a new car. In April this year, a Melbourne man who won $1.2 million said he'd give $1,000 to friends who needed help, and $100,00 to his daughter. In Victoria, back in 2021, a Whittlesea man committed to donating much of his $670,000 TattsLotto prize to charity. And a Kew grandfather said he'd donate to the Children's Hospital after winning over $830,000. While these are all happy stories, over in the United States where winners often don't have the option to stay anonymous, things don't always work out well. 😳 Lottery worker reveals one thing winner won't believe 🌏 Incredible 'life-changing' $70 million lottery call 😴 Dad claims $60m Powerball jackpot after 'vivid' dream about winning Florida man Abraham Shakespeare won the US $30 million ($46 million) state lottery jackpot in 2006. The labourer famously gave away much of his fortune after being hit up by friends and family in need of cash. 'I'd have been better off broke," he reportedly said. When he disappeared in 2009, family and friends hoped he'd fled overseas. But instead, sadly he was found dead, and his financial advisor was later convicted of murdering him.
