UFC fighters' conduct beyond competition has long been a contentious issue, with incidents ranging from reckless altercations to legal troubles tarnishing the sport's reputation. While MMA and other sports enforce codes of conduct, the line between a fighter's professional discipline and personal aggression can blur. Scandals have repeatedly brought up the issue of accountability and the responsibilities of combat sports athletes as public figures. The same raw intensity that fuels success in the cage can lead to controversy outside of it.

Conor McGregor, the former UFC two-division champion, is once again at the center of controversy after video footage captured him punching a patron at Ibiza's Pacha nightclub in the early hours of June 17.

The clip, obtained by The Sun, shows McGregor striking a man twice. First with a glancing blow, then with a clean left hook that sent the victim to the floor, while holding a drink in his other hand.
Watch footage of the altercation here:
Witnesses reported that the altercation erupted after a brief exchange, with McGregor appearing to take offense before escalating to violence. The man he struck was reportedly escorted out by security, while McGregor remained at the venue, shielded by his entourage.

This incident is far from McGregor's first scuffle outside of the cage. In 2019, he was filmed sucker-punching an elderly man in a Dublin pub for refusing a drink of his Proper Twelve whiskey. In 2022, he was accused of assaulting a woman on an Ibiza yacht, though the legal outcomes of that case remain unclear.
McGregor's repeated incidents reflect a lack of consequences, as he continues to evade serious repercussions despite his history of aggression.
McGregor hasn't fought since breaking his leg in a 2021 loss to Dustin Poirier, and his planned comeback against Michael Chandler has been repeatedly delayed. UFC CEO Dana White recently stated McGregor won't return until late 2025 at the earliest, citing unclear reasons for the extended hiatus.
Meanwhile, McGregor has flirted with boxing matches and political aspirations, further taking away his focus from MMA.

With this recent incident on top of legal scrutiny, fan backlash, and a stalled career, McGregor's future remains uncertain.

Zverev steps in after an advertising board lands on a spectator at Halle
HALLE, Germany (AP) — Alexander Zverev and an umpire helped out with ice after a spectator was struck by a falling advertising board during his match at the Halle grass-court tournament Wednesday. The board fell from the upper tier of the stadium into the crowd on the lower tier and struck a female spectator, organizers said, adding that Zverev and umpire Renaud Lichtenstein rushed over with ice to treat her. Advertisement 'Something like this has never happened in the 32-year history of our tournament. We deeply regret the incident,' tournament director Ralf Weber told German news agency dpa, which reported that Weber had given the spectator a free pass for next year's tournament. She was taken to a hospital as a precaution but did not appear to be badly hurt, dpa reported. It didn't stop Zverev from racing to a 6-1, 6-2 win over American Marcos Giron in the first round of the tournament, a warm-up for Wimbledon. It continued the German player's strong form on grass after he was the runner-up in Stuttgart last week. Also Wednesday at Halle, third-seeded Daniil Medvedev won 6-2, 7-5 over Quentin Halys and eighth-seeded Karen Khachanov won 7-5, 6-3 against Zizou Bergs in the first round. ___ More AP tennis: The Associated Press

‘Best phase of his career' and ‘crises' – Neymar Sr. evokes his son's time at PSG
'The best phase of his career was at Paris Saint-Germain,' Neymar Sr. tells L'Équipe. However, it wasn't all easy going for his son at the Parc des Princes. Neymar Jr. (33) was often the subject of criticism from fans. He was part of a dominant PSG side that won five Ligue 1 titles during his stay at the club, however, the UEFA Champions League alluded the club during his stay. He was, nonetheless, a pillar of the side that reached the final in 2020. Advertisement Following his world-record €222m move back in 2017, he made 173 appearances, scoring 118 goals and registering 79 assists. 'He just lacked the Champions League,' said Neymar Sr. However, despite his on-pitch contribution, his off-pitch behaviour saw him come in for criticism. In one episode in 2023, the year of his departure from the club, PSG fans protested outside the Brazilian's house, telling him to leave. He did so just a couple of months later. 'The fans felt betrayed and came to our windows. But that happens. We'll talk about the motivations for his departure at another time,' said Neymar Sr. He then went on to evoke his son's relationship with the club. 'It was a great marriage, with crises, like with all couples, then a separation. It was the same when he left Santos and Barcelona. But you saw how he was welcomed in Santos when he returned. If he came back to the Parc, he would undoubtedly be applauded. In like, you can marry out of love at first sight, but after a certain amount of time, the passion fades, and when we separate, we become good friends. I think that is the case with PSG. No one can wipe away what we did for PSG, and Neymar doesn't want to wipe away his history with the club,' he said. Since leaving PSG in 2023 for €90m to join Al-Hilal, Neymar has featured sparingly, with the Brazilian suffering from a succession of injuries that have kept him away from the pitch.
