Gensol Engineering hit 5% upper circuit for third day in row; Details here

Gensol Engineering share price hit a 5 per cent upper circuit in trade on Thursday, at ₹63.14 per share on BSE for the third consecutive session. The northward movement in the stock came after the company's Managing Director Anmol Singh Jaggi and Whole-time Director Puneet Singh Jaggi resigned amid alleged fund diversion.
At 12:25 PM, Gensol Engineering shares were up 5 per cent at ₹63.14 per share on the BSE. In comparison, the BSE Sensex was down 0.16 per cent at 81,202.74. The market capitalisation of the company stood at ₹239.95 crore. The 52-week high of the stock was at ₹1,125.75 per share and the 52-week low of the stock was at ₹51.84 per share.
Gensol Engineering fund diversion case
In April, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) issued an interim order against Anmol Singh Jaggi and Puneet Singh Jaggi over alleged fund diversion and fraudulent practices.
Furthermore, the market regulator directed Gensol Engineering to halt the proposed stock split. SEBI stated that the funds were allegedly used for luxury real estate purchases, complex fund routing, and the misuse of public company resources as though they were personal assets.
Sebi began investigating the company after multiple complaints and subsequent downgrades of Gensol's credit ratings by CARE Rating and Icra due to delays in servicing debt obligations by BluSmart Mobility, a related party of Gensol.
In the latest development, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (Ireda), a state-run financier, has filed a petition under Section 7 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code against Gensol Engineering after the company defaulted on a ₹510 crore loan.
If the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) admits the insolvency petition, all creditors of the company are expected to file their claims with the court-appointed resolution professional for debt resolution, while the value of equity holdings is likely to be wiped out.
On April 25, Ireda initiated an internal review in accordance with Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines and its own due diligence procedures. The review revealed that the promoters had diluted their shareholdings without obtaining the necessary approval from lenders, thereby breaching the terms of the contract. As a result, Ireda filed a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing against Gensol on April 24 regarding these issues.

JM Financial gets 1.4 lakh sq ft of office space in Mumbai's Mulund

JM Financial Products has been allotted 1.4 lakh sq ft of office space at Prestige Trade Centre in Mulund, a suburb of Mumbai, according to transaction documents accessed through real estate analytics firm Propstack. JM Financial Products is a systemically important non-deposit-taking non-banking financial company (NBFC-ND-SI) registered with the Reserve Bank of India. The market value of the allotted space is around ₹150 crore. This transaction has its roots in a 2020 insolvency resolution. That year, Bengaluru-based Prestige Estates Projects won the bid to acquire a stalled real estate project by bankrupt Ariisto Developers in Mulund under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). Prestige later developed the project. Ariisto was incorporated in 2016 with an authorised capital of ₹1 lakh and a paid-up capital of ₹1 lakh. Following a default, one of its financial creditors initiated Corporate Insolvency Resolution Proceedings (CIRP), which were admitted by the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Mumbai Bench, on November 20, 2018. Subsequently, a Committee of Creditors (CoC) was formed and a Resolution Professional (RP) appointed. Total claims by lenders amounted to ₹2,500 crore. JM Financial Capital was among Ariisto's financial creditors. Several resolution plans were submitted and evaluated by the RP. At a meeting on November 13, 2020, the CoC approved the plan submitted by Prestige. As per the terms approved by NCLT, Prestige was to pay ₹370 crore to the project's lenders and develop 8 lakh sq ft of commercial space. At the time, Prestige had estimated the project's revenue potential at ₹10,000 crore, with a total saleable area of 7.5 million sq ft. The transaction was registered in April 2025 with the relevant authorities. The space spans four floors (levels 40 to 44) and has a carpet area of 88,873 sq ft. The registration attracted a stamp duty of ₹8.94 crore and a registration fee of ₹30,000.

Shares of Eternal, Swiggy drop as Rapido undercuts food delivery commission

Shares of Zomato parent Eternal and its rival Swiggy dropped as much as 2.5% and 4% on Monday following an ET report that Rapido is planning to launch its food delivery services this month by charging significantly lower commissions to restaurants than the two large players. Eternal shares closed 1.9% lower on the BSE at Rs 256.99 per share, after hitting an intraday low of Rs 255.35. Swiggy ended the day's trade 2.8% lower at Rs 364 a share, falling to Rs 360.10 apiece earlier in the day. The benchmark Sensex closed 0.31% higher at 82,445.21. According to the agreed-upon terms with the industry body National Restaurants Association of India (NRAI), Rapido will charge a flat commission of Rs 25 for all orders below Rs 400 and Rs 50 for orders worth more than Rs 400. This translates to 8–15% commission from restaurants, compared to 16–30% that Zomato and Swiggy charge, as ET reported. "Zomato is becoming unsustainable for small restaurant owners like us," Vandit Malik, founder of The Garlic Bread, wrote on LinkedIn three weeks back. "To even be visible on the platform, I'm forced to spend Rs 30+ per order on ads. What's left? Pennies. Sometimes, not even that," he alleged. The owners of another NCR-based small restaurant, Saffroma, wrote on X last week, which went viral, that it was quitting Zomato, alleging "zero payouts, mystery service charges and advertisements initiated without approval." The post has since been deleted. Platforms had penetrated only about 11% of the country's total food consumption in 2023, compared with 40% in China and 58% in the US, it said. In a note dated June 2, brokerage firm Morgan Stanley said that online food delivery penetration in India is still in the early stages at around 14% against the 19-21% range for markets such as the US and China, "implying a long runway for growth'. It kept its target price for Eternal's stock at Rs 320 per share, implying a potential upside of 24.5% from the stock's current price. Initiating coverage on Swiggy earlier this month, the brokerage firm pegged its target price for the stock at Rs 405 per share, marking a potential upside of 11.3%. Swiggy's food marketplace CEO Rohit Kapoor, in an interview with ET this month, said that there was a need for a greater level of dialogue between restaurants and aggregators over issues such as platform commissions, but pointed out that the architecture of economics has changed over time. Swiggy is an investor in Rapido.
