Mercedes driver in deadly Brooklyn school bus crash arrested: NYPD
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – A Mercedes driver involved in a deadly school bus crash in Brooklyn that killed a 24-year-old passenger on Thursday has been charged with manslaughter, according to arrest records.
Tyree Epps, 32, of Brooklyn, was arrested on Thursday after fleeing from the crash scene, police said.

Epps was heading south on Van Sinderen Avenue when he collided with the school bus traveling east on Blake Avenue, according to police.
Emergency Medical Services took the 57-year-old bus driver and his 24-year-old passenger in the Mercedes-Benz to a nearby hospital. The bus driver was expected to survive. His passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. She later died and suffered severe head trauma, authorities said.
Tyree is accused of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in death, aggravated unlicensed operator, driving without a license, failure to stop at the stop sign, and imprudent speed.
The passenger in the Mercedes has not been identified and is pending family notification, police said.

Man who murdered uncle and hid body in bank jailed
A drug dealer who kidnapped and murdered his uncle before hiding his body in a bank vault has been jailed for more than 34 years. Asghar Badshah, a 39-year-old bus driver from Bradford, was taken to a disused bank on Commercial Street in Batley by his nephew, Tahir Syed, on 30 November 2019 over a missing sum of money, Leeds Crown Court heard. Mr Badshah was beaten to death and his body was found behind a false wall in a vault four weeks later. Syed, 42, of no fixed address, was found guilty of murder, conspiracy to kidnap and drugs conspiracy offences on Monday and sentenced at the same court earlier. Syed and his associates had imported tonnes of cocaine and heroin to the UK in more than 30 shipments between 2016 to 2021, the court heard. Judge Thomas Bayliss KC said Mr Badshah had been asked to "hide a large amount of cash" by Syed, who then suspected Mr Badshah of stealing £600,000 from him. The court was told how Mr Badshah was kidnapped from his mother's address in Mayo Road, Bradford, in a Mercedes at around 01:35 GMT on the day of the murder and taken to the bank, where he was beaten with a metal rod. Syed lied to his family, the court heard, telling them that his uncle was still alive, knowing that in reality his naked body had been stored in an old vault in the disused bank. Judge Bayliss said: "I am quite sure that your primary purpose, was to detain and interrogate Asghar Badshah, in order to ascertain where the missing money was." Syed was jailed for a minimum term of 34 years and 153 days, taking into account almost four years already spent behind bars since being extradited from Turkey. Woman passes out while being strangled in Queens park: NYPD
QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – Police are searching for a man after a woman was strangled until she was unconscious in Flushing Meadows Corona Park on June 6, according to the NYPD. It happened around 8:50 a.m. near 48th Avenue and 111th Street. The woman was approached by the suspect, who spoke in a way she couldn't understand, according to authorities. More Local News Police said the man allegedly threw a plastic water bottle at the victim before placing his arm around her neck. The woman then passed out, according to authorities. Police said the suspect, who was wearing a brown shirt and brown shorts, fled the park. The woman was taken to a local hospital, according to authorities. Woman attacked for refusing to give up cellphone in subway station: NYPD
THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman was attacked after she refused to let a man use her cellphone inside a Bronx subway station on Monday, according to the NYPD. Police said it happened around 4:45 p.m. inside the East 182nd Street-183rd Street subway station. A 49-year-old woman was walking when she was approached by the suspect, who asked her if he could borrow her phone, according to authorities. More Local News Police said a fight broke out between the two. The suspect is accused of kicking the woman and stealing cash and her cellphone from her pocket, according to authorities. Police said the suspect fled the station. The woman was not injured in the attack, according to authorities.
