The Los Angeles Dodgers boast the best record in the National League and hold a commanding 4.5-game advantage in the NL West.

That is despite three of their top rotation arms on the injured list and both setup men, Evan Phillips and Blake Treinen, battling ailments of their own.
With 15 pitchers currently on the shelf, Los Angeles is scouring the pitching market for upgrades -- specifically Tampa Bay Rays reliever Pete Fairbanks, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today.

Fairbanks is having a tremendous season for Tampa Bay. In 30 appearances, he has a 2.15 ERA and 26 strikeouts across 29.1 innings. His 13 saves rank ninth in the American League, but Fairbanks' impressive ability to limit home runs is what separates him from other relievers on the market.

The Dodgers' bullpen has allowed a league-leading 46 home runs. Meanwhile, Fairbanks has allowed zero home runs this season, which would be the lowest home run per nine innings rating in Los Angeles.
'The Dodgers continue to be on the prowl, and Andrew Friedman, president of baseball operations, will do everything humanly possible to make sure this team is given every opportunity to become the first NL team to repeat as World Series champions since the 1975-76 Cincinnati Reds,' wrote Nightengale.
The 31-year-old is under contract through the remainder of the 2026 season but has a club option with $7 million for the 2027 season. Having two years of control left will drive the cost for Fairbanks up.
However, with a stacked farm system and a desire to repeat as World Series champions, the Dodgers have plenty of ambition to get a deal done.

Dave Dombrowski Says Phillies Have a 'Legitimate Chance to Win,' Implies Active Trade Deadline
Dave Dombrowski Says Phillies Have a 'Legitimate Chance to Win,' Implies Active Trade Deadline originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A little over a month until the MLB trade deadline, the Philadelphia Phillies have been in constant rumors for top players on the market. Recent comments from the president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski, presented a positive outlook on the Phillies' trade deadline plans. Advertisement In a story from Jayson Stark of The Athletic, Dombrowski made a comment that points towards an active deadline for the team. With Phillies fans hoping for a trade deadline splash, Dombrowski's comments are a positive sign. "We feel like we have a legitimate chance to win," Dombrowski said. "... But that opportunity doesn't always come. And I always tell people: Don't take it for granted when you're in a position where you're in it, year in and year out." These two comments from Dombrowski paint a positive picture of how the Phillies are looking at the deadline. By viewing this team as one that has a chance to win, it implies that Dombrowski would be willing to make moves to help them get over the hump. Philadelphia Phillies General Manager Dave Dombrowski poses for a photo before the National Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cooperstown, Fisher-Imagn Images If there was any belief they didn't have a strong chance to win the World Series, Dombrowski wouldn't make aggressive moves. But this comment points towards the Phillies' president of baseball operations going into the trade deadline with a plan to add. Advertisement The second part of his quote is also a great sign. Dombrowski is signifying that once one gets into a position to win it all, it's imperative to take advantage of that. For the Phillies fans wanting Dombrowski to make a move, this points towards his acknowledgement that this is the year. Whether it's adding a high-leverage reliever like Jhoan Duran, Emmanuel Clase, or Ryan Helsley, or looking for outfield help in Luis Robert Jr. or Jarren Duran, the Phillies are set to be active in the trade markets. The Phillies plan to make moves at the trade deadline, which isn't a surprise. But, these comments from Dombrowski point to those moves not being minor ones, and instead being meaningful additions to help the Phillies try to win the 2025 World Series. Dave Dombrowski's Latest Comments Don't Sound Great for Kyle Schwarber's Future with Phillies
Dave Dombrowski's Latest Comments Don't Sound Great for Kyle Schwarber's Future with Phillies originally appeared on Athlon Sports. There's a possibility that the Philadelphia Phillies could lose Kyle Schwarber in the offseason. Advertisement Schwarber, one of the better power hitters in Major League Baseball, is having another great season. He's currently hitting at .247 with 24 home runs and 55 RBIs, posting a 148 OPS+. However, the tough reality is that the Phillies could potentially lose him for nothing in free agency this upcoming winter. The Phillies would love to get something back for him in return, but there's no chance they'll trade him over the next few months, as it wouldn't make sense given where the team stands as contenders. As long as the Phillies understand that there's a chance to lose him, which they do, they should have some sort of sense in finalizing a deal. Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber (12) prepares to bat during the second inning against the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park. Bill Streicher-Imagn Images According to Dave Dombrowski, he wants to keep him around, but added that he has to focus on making his team as good as possible in every avenue. Advertisement 'We don't want to lose him,' Dombrowski told FOX's Deesha Thosar. 'But I think your responsibility, as somebody in my job, is to make your club better in other ways. I've lost free-agent players in the past that we've gone out and been able to do things. Again, not that you want to lose him. But I don't think it's the end of any window or anything.' These aren't exactly ideal comments from Dombrowski, but he's being real about the situation. It's possible that the Phillies will lose him at the end of the year, and there's even a chance it could make sense to do so. If the Phillies have an opportunity to land a player like Kyle Tucker, he's younger and, frankly, a lot better. However, if they lose him and fail to replace him with a competent player, it'd be tough to justify Dombrowski's actions.
