India's largest software exporter Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is holding interviews for lateral hiring for mid-level roles at its offices in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Pune, among other locations, on June 14, in a sign of increasing demand for experienced and skilled technology professionals. In Bengaluru, TCS has said that it will hold walk-in in-person interviews at its office at Brigade Bhuwalka Icon on ITPL main road in Whitefield from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm, paving the way for skilled workers to join its AI-Cloud team , according to a public notice by TCS.The Tata subsidiary is looking for people with experience ranging from 5-15 years, and it differs from role to role. The company is seeking to recruit people with skills in Java fullstack & Microservices developer, Azure data engineer, Power BI developer, Workfront Fusion developer, Python developer, Microservices (GCP cloud run), Azure devops, and AWS DevOps+Terraform. This comes after a lull in overall hiring in the financial year ending March 2025 due to continued macro uncertainties, which escalated in February as tariff wars initiated by the US government. The US is the largest market for software outsourcing majors. This led to a pause in technology demand from corporate clients.TCS had added a meagre 625 employees during the fourth quarter of FY25. This came after a reduction of 5,370 employees in the December quarter.TCS did not respond to an email seeking details.Traditionally, the largest recruiters of engineering professionals, the software service providers, have been slowing their employee intake over the past two years. The latest face-to-face interviews to be held by TCS come after it organised similar recruitment rounds in March and April in five cities. Details of the vacancies and hiring numbers were not immediately available. The hiring drive would help the company support the ongoing and new projects, according to people close to the development. The TCS hiring comes alongside its smaller rival Infosys undertaking a similar lateral hiring exercise. In March, Bengaluru-headquartered Infosys had put out an internal mail stating it was looking for people across 40-plus skill sets, including cloud computing, cyber security, Java Python, dotnet, Android/IoS development, and automation testing.Last week, ET reported that Infosys has also introduced a cash reward policy for senior employees who conduct interviews for lateral hiring, in what is seen as a move to focus on skilled mid-level positions as well as to boost employee morale.

GCC boom fuels US demand, US firms drive one-third of office demand in top Indian cities; Bengaluru leads office space race among top 7 cities

US-based companies have emerged as the single-largest contributors to India's office space demand in recent years, accounting for over one-third of gross leasing across the top seven cities between 2022 and 2024, according to data from real estate consultancy JLL India. During the three-year period, total office leasing across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune stood at 190 million square feet. Of this, US firms alone leased 64.5 million sq ft, with nearly 70% of that space taken to establish or expand Global Capability Centres (GCCs), JLL said. 'India's combination of skilled talent at scale, supportive ecosystem, cost advantages and a growth-oriented policy environment continues to make it an increasingly attractive destination for US corporations looking to establish and expand their global capabilities,' said Rahul Arora, Head – Office Leasing & Retail Services and Senior Managing Director (Karnataka, Kerala) at JLL India, PTI reported. The data underlines sustained interest from US-based multinationals in India's technology hubs, led by Bengaluru, which continues to be the top choice for setting up GCCs. JLL noted that GCC-led requirements formed around 70% of all space demand from US occupiers, signalling strong long-term investment and positioning India as a key hub for R&D, technology and innovation. Technology and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services and Insurance) companies from the US are driving much of this office demand, according to JLL, reflecting a broader global shift towards centralising high-end service operations in India. "Dangerous Manufacturing...": Boeing Whistleblower To NDTV On Air India Crash

New Delhi: Ed Pierson - the ex-high-level Boeing manager-turned-whistleblower, who testified before the United States Congress in 2019 that he had flagged safety issues with the company's 737 Max variant - has told NDTV of "chaotic and dangerous manufacturing" at its production facilities. This comes amid scrutiny over the horrific crash of Air India's AI-171, a London-bound flight that lost thrust and slammed into a residential area in Gujarat's Ahmedabad 36 seconds after take-off. Flight AI-171 was a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. It was the first crash involving a 787 since 2009, but it has turned the spotlight back on long-standing concerns about Dreamliner manufacturing standards and on John Barnett, a whistleblower who died under mysterious circumstances last year. It also brings the focus back on Sam Salehpour, another Boeing whistleblower who accused the company of putting profit over safety, and retaliating against his publicly raising red flags. "That's right... during testimony (to the US Congress in April last year) Mr Salehpour, who is the engineer with Boeing who reported problems, i.e., structural issues, and he provided pretty startling information about employees forcing parts to fit together (by jumping on them, according to some whistleblowers) when you aren't supposed to force them together..." "... and he expressed concern and apparently did everything he could, from inside the company, to raise these concerns and wasn't getting an adequate response," Mr Pierson told NDTV. "So he felt it was necessary to become a whistleblower." In April last year Mr Salehpour, who spent nearly two decades at Boeing, told US lawmakers he had been "put through hell" for raising concerns about the manufacturing processes. Among specifics flagged by Mr Salehpour were structural problems in the Dreamliner's fuselage; he claimed small gaps and improper assembly could cause possible structural failure. Boeing had strongly disputed the whistleblowers' claims, including those by Mr Salehpour, sand said the Dreamliner had been put through 150,000 safety tests and audits. It also denied retaliating against the whistleblowers after many, including Sam Salehpour, alleged retribution. The Federal Aviation Administration, the United States' top aviation authority, launched an investigation based on Mr Salehpour's claims. The FAA cleared in-operation 787 planes. On Wednesday, hours after the Air India plane crash, American officials continued to state there was no immediate safety data that required halting of Boeing 787 flights in the US. READ | US Aviation Body Says New Problem In Undelivered 787 Dreamliners Asked if the concerns flagged by Mr Salehpour could have been present, or indeed, contributed to the horrifying Air India crash, Mr Pierson told NDTV "it is possible..." "... concerns raised by Mr Salehpour could have been present in the Air India plane," he said, pointing out, "The problems he identified.. apparently the planes were being bult like that for a long time." On his own whistleblowing - regarding the 737 Max planes - Mr Pierson said there were multiple indicators of "chaotic and dangerous manufacturing" at the company. A grounded Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 at Los Angeles International Airport (File). "We were rushing to build planes... employees were under pressure to do overtime... there were parts issues, aircraft systems issues, functional system testing and electrical system testing, in particular..." The AI-171 plane crash is being investigated by Indian authorities; flight AI-171's black box has been recovered and the voice and systems data it contains is being analysed. The government has also set up a high-level committee to inquire into the accident and suggest guidelines to reinforce the safety of planes and passengers. Information available at this time only shows the plane lost thrust seconds after take-off. The Air India plane fell on a students' hostel near Ahmedabad airport. The pilots sent a distress radio message to Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control between 1.39 and 1.40 am, the government has said, but did not then respond to the ATC hailing the doomed plane. All but one of the 242 people on board were killed; the lone survivor was a British-Indian man sitting in seat 11A, and at least 31 deaths have been confirmed on the ground, taking the total dead to 274.

Dharan Infra pivots to green energy; sets up solar-focused subsidiary; aims end-to-end presence in renewables

Dharan Infra–EPC Ltd has taken a decisive step into the renewable energy sector by establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary, Dharan Infra Solar Pvt Ltd, to spearhead its entry into solar power and hybrid energy systems. The new entity will oversee the design, development, and execution of solar modules, cells, and associated accessories. According to a regulatory filing, Dharan Infra Solar aims to offer end-to-end solutions for solar power projects, covering everything from module manufacturing to project deployment and ongoing development, PTI reported. This strategic move follows the parent firm's rebranding from KBC Global Ltd to Dharan Infra–EPC Ltd, underscoring its shift in focus toward green infrastructure and engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) priorities. The company already has an active order book valued at Rs 260 crore, providing a strong launchpad for its expansion plans. By entering the solar and hybrid energy space, Dharan Infra is positioning itself to capitalize on India's growing emphasis on clean energy and distributed power generation. The move reflects both a broadening of capabilities and a deepening commitment to sustainable infrastructure.
