Lando Norris insists McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri is not his only title rival
Norris reignited his stuttering bid to land a first championship by winning from pole position in Monaco to reduce the deficit to Piastri to just three points.
Piastri has four victories to Norris' two, with Red Bull's Max Verstappen the only driver outside of McLaren to win a grand prix this season.

Verstappen is now 25 points behind Piastri – with fourth-placed Mercedes driver George Russell 62 points adrift – but speaking ahead of the ninth round of the season in Spain, Norris said: 'Mathematically I feel like probably the whole grid can win the championship at the minute so if you think it is just out of me and Oscar then you are a bit silly.
'There are plenty of opportunities. I expect Ferrari will get better as the season goes on.
'And Max can still win. Come on! We are racing Max every weekend. He's been on the podium several times, he has won races, he beat us in Imola fair and square because he was quicker.
'I don't know what possibly makes you think that it's only between the McLaren drivers.'
Norris, 25, will regain the lead of the championship he lost after last month's Saudi Arabia Grand Prix if he follows up his win in Monte Carlo with another triumph on Sunday.
'It's a great feeling to be in the lead of the championship, and to have more points than everyone, but again it is not something I look at and it is not something that changes anything I do day to day,' he continued.
'It doesn't change how hard I work or what I try to achieve. I will try to win this weekend and I'll try and win in Montreal, and I'll try and win in Austria. And it's got nothing to do with what position I am (in the championship).'
A new technical directive will be introduced at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya to clamp down on flexible front wings which some believe has contributed towards McLaren's dramatic rise.
The British team won the constructors' championship last season and have claimed six out of the eight wins so far in 2025.
However, when asked if he was concerned McLaren will be affected by the rule change, Norris said: 'No, not at all. There are tweaks here and there, but nothing that will change how we have to do it.'
Williams' Carlos Sainz continued: 'There has been a lot of talk regarding this technical directive but I don't think it will affect teams as much as people think. I wouldn't expect more than a one-tenth swing up and down the field.'

However Verstappen has aired his frustration with how the series can be pieced together, showing an unfair narrative. After Norris won the Miami Grand Prix last year Netflix showed Verstappen's reaction following the Dutch Grand Prix, which took place three months later. The Red Bull driver has previously refused to feature in seasons three and four of the Netflix series - claiming that storylines had been created and engineered in seasons, some of which he didn't agree with. He changed his tune after talks with Netflix executives. Back In 2021, he said: 'I understand that it needs to be done to boost the popularity in America. But from my side as a driver, I don't like being part of it. They faked a few rivalries which don't really exist. So I decided to not be a part of it and did not give any more interviews after that, because then there is nothing you can show. I am not really a dramatic show kind of person, I just want facts and real things to happen.' Norris has been equally critical and said: 'They need to show the truth about people more. I'm not a fan of fake stuff. I want facts, I don't want made-up scripts and fabricated nonsense, which there is. The portrayal of Max and how we were against each other so much. They don't need to create. 'There's drama, they can just show the facts of the drama. They don't need to do anything more than that. They need to come back to reality a bit more, it's drifted too far away.' Netflix's docu series has been a massive reason for the sport's rise in popularity. Key metrics have continued to show that people have embraced the sport, largely because of Drive To Survive, with attendances up and new audiences being captured.

Premier League side risk ruining pitch as stars race RED BULL F1 CAR in their stadium

But they have already risked ruining their pitch... as players raced against a Formula One car at Elland Road. And the car's turning circle meant the footballers regained their lead going into the second half of the race. F1 fan Largie Ramazani said of the publicity stunt: 'This was a great experience, the only thing better would be getting in the car. I think we did great, but in the end the car was just too quick. "Dan James was involved in the idea but unfortunately he's been injured. "But I'd back my team-mate over that car any day - DJ would smoke this car." Driver Lindblad added: "Ahead of the race I was a bit nervous. "I'd never driven on grass and had no idea how it would go. "The car has a ton of horsepower and there is not much grip on grass, so I wasn't sure if I could go full throttle and turn the car properly." The spectacle also featured a slalom 'dribbling' challenge - and it was no wonder the car left tyre marks across the pitch.
