With Giron about to serve at 2-5 15-30 in the first set, a loud bang and subsequent yelling could be heard from the crowd.
It scarily emerged that an advertising panel had fallen from the front of the upper tier onto the lower seats.
Zverev and umpire Renaud Lichtenstein approached the stands offering an ice pack.
The tournament went on to confirm that a 62-year-old spectator had been taken to hospital following the frightening incident.
But thankfully, the woman did not suffer any major injuries.
Tournament director Ralf Weber said: "Something like this has never happened in our 32-year tournament history. We deeply regret the incident."
Weber personally visited the spectator in hospital, and offered her a complimentary season ticket for next year's event.
Event managers Dr Udo Kleine and Uwe Greipel-Dominik later revealed how they felt the incident had taken place.

A joint statement said: "We suspect that the drumming against the cushions caused screws to come loose.
"This should not happen, and we apologise. We will also check all other cushions and their fastenings immediately after the Zverev match. The safety of our spectators is our top priority."
'Please stay away from me' - Alexander Zverev swipes at Taylor Fritz in X-rated rant after Stuttgart Open final
Following a safety check, the contest was able to continue, with world No3 Zverev winning 6-2 6-1.
The 6ft 6in German will take on Italy's Lorenzo Sonego in tomorrow's round of 16.
Last week Zverev reached the final of the ATP 250 event in Stuttgart, only to lose to rival Taylor Fritz.
In his runner-up speech on court, spiky Zverev joked: "Last but not least, Taylor, I'm f***ing tired of you.
'I don't wanna see you again over the next two to three years.
"Please stay away from me. Don't come to Germany anymore.
"No, well done you deserve to win this title.
"You are one of the best players in the world on this surface and you were much better than me today, so congrats to the whole team and I'm sure you are going to do incredible on the next two tournaments on grass, so well done."

Benjamin Sesko's agent clarifies price tag haggling rumours over Arsenal switch

Benjamin Sesko's agent, Elivis Basanovic, says rumours that RB Leipzig are being pressured lower their asking price for the forward are 'rubbish'. Basanovic made clear that the German club and Sesko have a respectable relationship and are both aware of the other's priorities. Those, of course, being: Sesko's desire to move to Arsenal and Leipzig wanting to negotiate the best price for him. Leipzig are open to letting Sesko leave and the forward has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Gunners but Basanovic sought to 'clarify' matters and stressed he will honour Leipzig's price tag of a reported €80-100m (£68-86m). The Daily Star report that he said stories claiming he is haggling down Sesko's price tag with the Bundesliga side are 'far from truth' and that Leipzig will respect Sesko's decision to leave. "We respect RB Leipzig and I am 100 per cent convinced RB Leipzig will also respect our decision for the next step when we decide to do it,' Basanovic said. "Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig.' He went on to call for 'more respect' during transfer sagas, adding: "I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect. "So that's why we do things in the right way or we don't do them. It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated." Arsenal hope to bring in a prolific striker this summer to help them with their quest to win the Premier League title after they fell short to Liverpool in 2024/25. Viktor Gyokeres is also on there list but Sesko is their No.1 priority having scored 21 goals across all competitions for Leipzig last season including 13 in the Bundesliga.

Benjamin Sesko's agent insists he will NOT 'blackmail' RB Leipzig over summer transfer as he breaks silence on Arsenal 'stumbling block'

Benjamin Sesko's agent has claimed that his client will only leave RB Leipzig this summer for a 'special club and project' and insisted he will not 'blackmail' the side over a move. The 22-year-old has been a long-time Gunners target, with the club having had offers rejected in May last year and the most recent January transfer window. Arsenal are keen to bolster their attacking options having finished second in the Premier League for a third-straight season. Sesko is their priority signing but however, according to German reporter Florian Plettenberg no bid has yet been submitted - and that is down to one key reason. Leipzig value Sesko between £68million and £85m - figures the north London outfit are reportedly unwilling to reach. Amid this apparent stand-off, his agent Elvis Basanovic has insisted that they will not force a move away from the German club and said it was take a 'special' proposal to prise him from the Red Bull Arena. 'Even if there may be - or will be - a strong desire of the player to move to a certain club, we will never force or blackmail RB Leipzig,' he told GiveMeSport. 'I believe this is not the right way, because the way you actually exit from the club shows your values. Values that you are bringing into a new club. 'I can understand in very big transfers, there are a lot of different interests but no matter what, I believe in football world should be more respect. So that's why we do things in the right way or we don;t do them. 'It's very simple, even maybe in the media it looks very complicated.' Earlier this week, reports in Germany claimed that the striker is yet to agree personal terms with the Gunners who are succession planning and continuing to monitor the situation with Sporting's wantaway striker Viktor Gyokeres. Basanovic would not be drawn on a timeline of events for his client, though he did reject the claim that they had requested Leipzig accept a lower fee this summer. Basanovic instead said that Sesko could leave Leipzig 'next week, or next year or in three years'. '[Sesko's] numbers at his age compared to some strikers with already great careers at his age are confirming my words,' added Basanovic. 'He will move from RB Leipzig only when we recognise a special club, a special project with a special coach.' Leipzig only finished seventh in the Bundesliga in 2024-25 and will not be able to offer their star striker Champions League football next season, while the Gunners will be playing in Europe's elite club competition. The in-demand 22-year-old Slovenian has already rejected a move to Saudi side Al-Hilal, such is his preference to join Arsenal.

Jack Draper pleased he no longer ‘looks like a Ferrari that breaks down like a Toyota' after gruelling win at Queens

Jack Draper says he no longer looks like a Ferrari but breaks down like a Toyota after stepping up his Wimbledon preparations by reaching the quarter-finals at Queen's Club. The British number one almost blew a gasket when he dropped the opening set to tricky Australian world number 21 Alexei Popyrin. But despite feeling under the weather, he gathered himself to level the match and then went through the gears in a deciding set tie-break to win a gruelling contest 3-6 6-2 7-6 (5) in two hours and 13 minutes. In years gone by such a test of endurance in the blazing heat of west London would have been too much for Draper, but now there is a lot more reliability under the chassis. 'I have always worked really hard off the court,' he said. 'I think that's helped me play more consistently on the tour. I have felt better and better every grand slam I have played. 'You know, before I felt like my energy wasn't that strong, and I felt like I looked like a bit of a Ferrari but I was a bit of a Toyota, like broke down quite easy. 'Now I'm starting to feel generally stronger and confident in myself.' If Draper breaks new ground and reaches the last four in west London, he will be seeded fourth at Wimbledon, ensuring he would avoid defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and world number one Jannik Sinner until the semi-finals. 'It's obviously a big thing. I think it would definitely help,' he added. 'But at the same time, I don't think I will think about that at all. 'Anything that I have sort of done in tennis, or achieved, I have never really thought about it. I've just kept on going. I focus on what's important to me, what I can control. I can't control if I go out there on Friday and play a great match. 'I'll give myself the best opportunity to hopefully do that. And of course if I'm in that position, you know, it helps going to Wimbledon. 'To be honest, I don't think I have been that great. I think I have competed really hard. I think my serve's been pretty good but the tennis I know I can play and the tennis that's got me to the position I'm in, I think there is still a lot of improvement to come. 'My goal is to peak at Wimbledon, you know. I'm going to give myself a chance each day to get better.' There is to be no quarter-final battle of Britain at Queen's after Dan Evans bowed out. The 35-year-old, who caused the shock of the first round by beating seventh seed Frances Tiafoe, was narrowly beaten 7-5 7-6 (4) by another American, Brandon Nakashima.
