Ye South Korea concert canceled amid controversies, streaming bans, and public backlash
Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, will no longer be performing in South Korea later this month. His concert at Incheon Munhak Main Stadium, originally scheduled for May 31, 2025, has been officially canceled.
Ticketing platform Interpark Global announced the cancellation on its website, citing 'recent controversies' involving the artist. 'We regret to inform you that the 'YE LIVE IN KOREA' concert… has been canceled due to recent controversies involving the artist Kanye West (YE),' the statement reads. 'We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. All purchased tickets will be automatically canceled, and full refunds will be processed sequentially.'
Reuters also confirmed the cancellation on May 19, noting the involvement of South Korean e-commerce company Coupang in the scrapped event.
The decision follows a series of contentious incidents involving Ye in recent months. The rapper has come under fire for making anti-Semitic and anti-LGBTQ remarks across his social media platforms. Earlier this month, Ye claimed that his song 'Heil Hitler' was banned from all major streaming services. In a post on X, he criticized what he sees as inconsistency in censorship policies, writing: 'Heil Hitler by Ye has been banned by all digital streaming platforms… While Rednecks by Randy Newman remains streamable. They're literally keeping the n—-s down.'
His most recent media appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored ended abruptly after Ye walked off the set following a heated exchange. Before leaving, he defended his public persona and contributions to music and culture.
As of now, Ye has not issued a public response to the concert cancellation. He was recently seen in Mallorca, Spain, alongside his wife Bianca Censori and social media figures Sneako and Digital Nas.

Live content unites Netflix fans worldwide
Netflix continues to add more live content for viewers hungry for real-time entertainment, including the Tyson vs Paul boxing match, National Football League games and, most recently, the Tudum live fan event that showcased upcoming TV shows. "This is the first time we've done the show in this way, a live format," Shelly Gillyard, VP of Series Marketing for the US and Canada, told Reuters at the Netflix Tudum fan event last Saturday. "Previous years were on the ground fan activations," Gillyard added. Tudum is named after the sound that plays before each Netflix film and series. For Netflix, it was important to ensure that they were incorporating talent from all over the world for the global fan event. More than 100 Netflix stars and creators appeared in the show hosted by actor Sofia Carson, who starred in the airport thriller Carry On. The first two Tudum events took place in São Paulo, Brazil, in 2020 and in 2023. However, for 2025, it was relocated to Los Angeles, California. The 2020 Netflix Tudum in Brazil drew 50,000 people in four days and the post-COVID numbers for the 2023 Brazil Tudum were 35,000. Gillyard said the live event could take place somewhere else in the future and Netflix is focused less on where it is held and more on making it available globally. With major titles like Squid Game, Stranger Things, Wednesday, and Emily in Paris, combined with a performance by Lady Gaga, the streamer capitalised on fan interest. One of the largest draws for viewers was the premiere date announcements for Emmy award-winning series Stranger Things. The livestreamed event revealed that Stranger Things will have a fifth and final season split into three parts, with part one on November 26, 2025, part two on December 25, 2025 and the series finale on December 31, 2025.

Barstool Sports' Dave Portnoy hopes Greta Thunberg's Gaza aid flotilla is hit by missile on podcast
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy is facing criticism after stating he hopes a missile strikes Greta Thunberg's humanitarian aid boat to Gaza. The comments were made on The Unnamed Show podcast hosted by Kirk Minihane and Ryan Whitney. During the episode, the conversation shifted from a debate on anti-Semitic humour to mocking Thunberg's involvement in a Gaza-bound mission. Portnoy said, 'I'll jump on Greta van Thorsten or whatever that girl's – she's sailing there. Like whoever that f–k – and I hope they hit a f–king like a missile on her boat. Knock that boat down. Greta or whatever her name is.' Greta Thunberg is part of a mission on the vessel Madleen, run by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition. The group departed from Catania, Italy, and aims to deliver medical aid to Gaza and raise awareness about the Israeli blockade in place since 2007. Earlier in the podcast, Portnoy appeared to criticise hate speech, stating, 'You just can't make jokes that incite hate. We've seen what that leads to.' However, his later remarks about Thunberg have drawn accusations of hypocrisy. The podcast episode has since gone viral on social media, with many condemning the comments as dangerous and inappropriate given Thunberg's mission and the ongoing genocide in Gaza.
