Bangladesh ODI squad for Sri Lanka announced: Litton Das recalled after Champions Trophy snub; Taskin, Mustafizur return
Bangladesh named their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka on Monday, recalling several of their senior pros in the team for the One-Dayers. The series will begin on July 2.
Litton Das, Bangladesh's T20I captain who was dropped from the Champions Trophy 2025 squad due to a long lean patch heading to the tournament, returned to the side. Along with Das, fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman have also been included in the 16-player squad after recovering from injuries.
Shamim Hossain, Tanvir Islam, Hasan Mahmud and Mohammad Naim are also included in the squad.
Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain said it was important for senior batter Litton Das to be given the chance to earn his place back in the ODI side.
'Litton Das was in a bad patch but time is the best healer. He is the T20 captain, so we can consider him till the next T20 World Cup. If someone has to return to form, it is best to spend a long time in the middle. We feel that Litton can take his form from ODIs to T20Is,' said Ashraf.
A total of five pacers are included in Bangladesh's squad, with Ashraf saying this was to help Taskin and Rahman return from injury smoothly.
'We have included five fast bowlers in the ODI side as we have Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed are returning from injuries. We are also mindful of Nahid Rana's workload management, so we have kept enough options to choose from,' he said.
The opening two matches of the series will be held in Colombo on July 2 and July 5, with the series switching to Pallekele for the final match on July 8.
Earlier, the One-Off Test between the sides ended in a draw after Bangladesh red-ball skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto scored centuries in both innings.

Right Handed Wicket Keeper A right-hand batsman from Delhi, Unmukt Chand scored over 400 runs at an impressive average of 57.14 in his debut first-class season. A knock of 151 against the Railways and two half centuries were witness to his prowess as an opening batsman. Chand has been an integral part of the India Under-19 team and his consistent performances have often helped the team's cause. He became the youngest player to have played in the IPL, when he was signed by the Delhi Daredevils for the fourth season at the tender age of 17. In 2012, Chand was selected to captain the Under 19 team for the quadrangular series in Australia and he did a good job as India won that tournament with the skipper scoring an unbeaten hundred in the final. His inspirational captaincy also guided the team to success in the Under-19 Asia Cup, where the right-hander was in the form of his life, scoring two consecutive centuries in semi-finals as well as the final. The final however, ended in a thrilling tie against arch rivals Pakistan. The youngsters purple patch continued later in the year, when the Indian Under-19 team won the Under-19 World Cup in Australia beating defending champions, Australia under his responsible captaincy. Once again, it was the skipper who led from the front, scoring an unbeaten century to guide his team home. After the World Cup, it hasn't been the best of runs for the youngster. He does play for Delhi Ranji team but hasn't had the 'career-changing' season yet. He was bought by Rajasthan for Rs. 65 lakhs in the seventh season of the Indian T20 League. He will gain tremendous knowledge and experience in the company of Rahul Dravid, Shane Watson, Ajinkya Rahane and Brad Hodge. …read more Unmukt Chand Statistics Debut Delhi Capitals vs Mumbai Indians on Apr 10, 2011 Last Mumbai Indians vs Punjab Kings on May 13, 2016 Unmukt Chand Batting Records Mat R 50s 100s Avg S/R 21 300 1 0 15.00 100.00 Highest Runs 58 Balls Faced 37 On Date Apr 19, 15 Against RCB Unmukt Chand Fielding Records Catches Stumpings Run Outs 8 0 0 Mat: Matches, R: Runs, W: Wickets, O: Overs, S/R: Strike Rate, Eco: Economy Rate, Avg: Average Your feedback is crucial !
