Lindsay Gottlieb shares message with team following victory over Mississippi State Lindsay Gottlieb appreciates the significance of what her USC players achieved.
Monday night was a roller coaster of emotions for USC women's basketball. Early on in their NCAA Tournament second round matchup with Mississippi State, the Trojans suffered heartbreak when superstar Juju Watkins had to be carried off of the court with an injury. It was later announced that Watkins tore her ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season.
After losing Watkins, however, the Trojans came out playing inspired basketball. The result was a 96-59 domination of the Bulldogs and a second consecutive trip to the Sweet 16.
Following the game, head coach Lindsay Gottlieb shared an emotional message with her team.
"You guys had my back," Gottlieb said. "You had each other's back. You had [Juju's] back. The fans had your back. We were a team.
"I will never forget this game . . . it's a big deal to go to the Sweet 16. We are going to Spokane. We are going as a team.
"You guys did something really special today . . . [I want to] tell you how incredibly proud I am of the way you stepped up for one another, this school, each other."
As Gottlieb mentioned, USC will now head to Spokane, Washington for the Sweet 16. The Trojans will face Kansas State on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Pacific time.

Rams waive former Georgia CFP hero The Los Angeles Rams have waived former Georgia Bulldogs cornerback Derion Kendrick after three seasons. Kendrick was a sixth-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. Georgia had a record-breaking 15 players selected in the 2022 draft. Kendrick developed into a productive player for the Rams. He started 18 of 32 games during his first two seasons with Los Angeles. However, he tore his ACL during the first week of training camp in 2024, which forced him out for the entire 2024 season. Now, Kendrick is looking to comeback from his ACL injury, but he'll have to find another NFL team first. Kendrick posted 14 pass deflections, 92 tackles and one interception during his first two years in the NFL. He has the ability to start at outside cornerback and should find a new team relatively soon as long as he's healthy. Kendrick played the first three seasons of his college career at Clemson before transferring to Georgia for the 2021 season. The talented cornerback intercepted four passes including two in the College Football Playoff semifinals against Michigan in his lone season at Georgia, which ended in a national championship victory over Alabama. Waiving Kendrick saves the Rams $3.4 million in cap space. Kendrick was participating in OTAs with the Rams before his release. He injured his ACL in late July 2024, so he's had almost a year to recover. The Rams are down to just three former Georgia Bulldogs now. Los Angeles has quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett along with offensive lineman Warren McClendon on their roster.

Texas A&M is reportedly pursuing Cal State Fullerton star short stop Texas A&M baseball's roster will look significantly different in 2026, primarily due to the departure of junior star outfielder Jace LaViolette, who is expected to enter the 2025 MLB Draft, along with several pitchers, including Ryan Prager and Justin Lamkin, who have yet to announce their decisions. Still, nothing compares to the last month's news regarding Texas A&M Athletic Director Trev Alberts' decison to retain head coach Michael Earley, whose inagural season ended with a dissapointing 30-26 (11-19 SEC) record, including a series sweeping loss to lowly Missouri, which all but eliminated the Aggies from the NCAA Tournament. Given a second chance, Earely will need dominate the transfer portal, which, outside of adding three veterans, pitchers Michael (MJ) Bollinger (FAU), Preston Prince (Rutgers), and star outfielder Jake Duer, also an FAU transfer, he will need to continue bolstering the roster to have any chance at competing in the always stacked SEC next season. This week, it was revealed that star Cal Fullerton shortstop Maddox Latta has entered the transfer portal. According to AggieYell (Rivals) Editor Mark Passwaters, Texas A&M is in pursuit, which could lead to a future visit. Currently, junior shortstop Kaeden Kent has yet to announce his return for next season, and although his return is assumed, nothing is guaranteed. Last season, Latta was highly productive, leading Cal Fullerton with a .362 batting average, 72 hits, 27 RBI, and three home runs.
