Fallen tree knocks out power throughout Avondale Estates, city says
The City of Avondale Estates says a large tree fell and knocked out power throughout the city.
The tree is blocking Covington Hwy near the American Legion.

'Georgia Power is aware of power outages throughout the city. City Hall is also affected by the power outages and is closed,' a statement read.
Georgia Power's outage map shows at least 725 customers without power. The city says to report any outages to Georgia Power.

The city says traffic is being diverted and is reminding drivers to treat traffic lights that aren't working as four-way stops.
The following detours are in place:
Westbound traffic diverted onto Stratford Road to Kensington Road to S. Avondale Road to N. Avondale Road
Eastbound traffic diverted onto Berkley Road to Kensington Road to Covington Highway.
On its website, MARTA says passengers can expect some changes at the Avondale Estates Station.
'All EB trains will be boarding from the middle WB platform. At Kensington, some EB trains will be boarding from the WB platform and others from the EB platform at Kensington. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,' MARTA said.

4 trees fall on same house in Gwinnett County during metro Atlanta storms
Storm clean up in the metro Atlanta area continues with some trees still on top of houses across the area. That includes one house in Gwinnett County, where four trees fell on the same house. Bailey said his teams were slammed, helping multiple families impacted by the storm. The damage spread throughout the Lawrenceville area. On Hunters Creek Court, neighbors saw the storm's power up close. 'We looked at the backyard and tree down on this side and tree down on the right side that went into a neighbor's roof,' Cristen Safrit said. This week's forecast includes more severe weather, so Bailey said it's good to have someone take a look at the trees closest to your home. 'If a severe storm comes in, there's no way of telling if it's deeply rooted or not,' Bailey said. 'That can possibly cause harm to your house.' FHP warns Duval County wildfire may cause visibility problems on US-17
The Florida Highway Patrol issued an advisory to drivers Tuesday night in response to a wildfire burning in northern Duval County. Just before 10 P.M., FHP said a 3-acre wildfire was burning near US-17 and Yellow Bluff Road. Hurricane season starts quietly in the Atlantic
Hurricane season began June 1, and so far, it's been quiet for us. A Saharan dust layer, very dry and dusty air off Africa, has come across the tropical Atlantic. It limits the potential for any tropical development. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] The water in that area is warm enough, as it is slightly above average for this time of year in the Gulf and northwest Caribbean. The potential for tropical development for the rest of June is low and includes only in the southwestern Gulf bordering Mexico from June 18-24.
