'He was more than a son and brother – he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community. Chauncy's compassion and dedication to helping others, especially through the Chauncy Glover Project, changed countless lives and inspired so many young men to pursue their dreams. His talent, warmth, and vision left an imprint on everyone who knew him, and the world is dimmer without him.'

Justin Baldoni continuing legal fight against Blake Lively after dismissal

(NewsNation) — Justin Baldoni's team says it isn't finished after a judge dismissed its case against Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds. In a statement, Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, said that Lively and her team's 'predictable declaration of victory is false.' Freedman also said the court is allowing Baldoni and his team to amend four of the seven claims it made against his former 'It Ends With Us' co-star. Judge Lewis J. Liman also dropped Baldoni's $250 million lawsuit against The New York Times. The deadline for Baldoni's team to make those amendments is June 23. What is Simone Biles' net worth? Baldoni's attorney's full statement reads: 'Ms. Liveley and her team's predictable declaration of victory is false, so let us be clear about the latest ruling. While the Court dismissed the defamation related claims, the Court has invited us to amend four out of the seven claims against Ms. Lively, which will showcase additional evidence and refined allegations.' 'This case is about false accusations of sexual harassment and retaliation and a nonexistent smear campaign, which Ms. Lively's team conveniently describes as 'untraceable' because they cannot prove what never happened. Most importantly, Ms. Lively's own claims are no truer today than they were yesterday, and with the facts on our side, we march forward with the same confidence that we had when Ms. Lively and her cohorts initiated this battle and look forward to her forthcoming deposition, which I will be taking.' 'We are grateful for the organic show of support from the public and for the dedication of the internet sleuth community who continue to cover the case with discernment and integrity.' After the judge dismissed Baldoni's suits, Lively's legal team said it was 'a total victory and a complete vindication.' Lively's lawyers, Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, told Us Weekly: 'As we have said from day one, this '$400 million' lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it. We look forward to the next round, which is seeking attorneys' fees, treble damages and punitive damages against Baldoni, Sarowitz, Nathan and the other Wayfarer Parties who perpetrated this abusive litigation.' Lively also made a statement, saying that she would continue to defend women's rights. In an Instagram story, she said, 'Like so many others, I've felt the pain of a retaliatory lawsuit, including the manufactured shame that tries to break us.' She also said the suit against her 'was defeated,' and there are some 'incredible organizations' that can help women in a situation similar to hers. 'With love and gratitude for the many who stood by me, many of you I know. Many of you I don't. But I will never stop appreciating or advocating for you,' she ended the post. Lively originally brought a lawsuit against Baldoni for alleged sexual harassment. One insider told NewsNation's Paula Froelich in February that Lively and Reynolds 'have no idea what's coming down the pike.' Lively claimed in her lawsuit that sales of her haircare brand, Blake Brown, plummeted by nearly 78% after what she calls a 'social manipulation campaign.' Billie Eilish's brother Finneas says he was tear-gassed during LA ICE protest A person close to Target, which sells Lively's haircare brand, told Puck that the brand is set to do 'less than $15 million' in sales in 2025. The source claimed that Blake Brown was previously a $100 million brand. Another source told Froelich that no one has wanted to work with Lively since the lawsuits. A trial for Lively's suit against Baldoni has been scheduled for March 2026. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Why a judge dismissed Justin Baldoni's lawsuit against Blake Lively and The New York Times

A federal judge dismissed actor Justin Baldoni's extortion and defamation claims he brought against actress Blake Lively, The New York Times and others, while still giving Baldoni a chance to pursue limited contract-related claims in the legal feud between the 'It Ends With Us' co-stars. Baldoni's legal complaint came in January after Lively brought her own in December alleging sexual harassment, retaliation, breach of contract and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Her suit is still pending. Dismissing Baldoni's claims in a 132-page opinion Monday, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman in New York summarized them in two broad categories: First, that Lively, helped by actor Ryan Reynolds (Lively's husband) and publicist Leslie Sloane, threatened to refuse to promote the film, which Baldoni directed, and to attack him in the press if she didn't get control and credit. And second, that Lively, Sloane, Reynolds and the Times spread a false narrative that Baldoni committed sexual misconduct against Lively and engaged in a smear campaign against her. Rejecting the first category, Liman said Baldoni failed to adequately allege that Lively's threats were extortion rather than just bargaining over working conditions. Rejecting the second category, Liman said Baldoni failed to adequately allege any false statements made to the Times, other than statements made by Lively in a complaint she filed with the California Civil Rights Department, which Liman said were legally privileged. The Times published a December story headlined, ''We Can Bury Anyone': Inside a Hollywood Smear Machine,' citing Lively's complaint. Liman said Baldoni has until June 23 to file an amended complaint limited to certain contract-related claims. Gavin Newsom Seeks Immediate Order To Block Donald Trump's Federal Troop Patrols In Los Angeles

California Governor Gavin Newsom said that the state is now seeking a temporary restraining order to block President Donald Trump from dispatching troops to patrol Los Angeles. Newsom wrote on X, 'Trump is turning the U.S. military against American citizens. The courts must immediately block these illegal actions.' In the motion filed on Tuesday in U.S. District Court in San Francisco, Newsom and state officials argued that 'they seek to preserve (in part) the status quo by temporarily enjoining Defendants from ordering or deploying the active- duty members of the military and federalized National Guard soldiers to patrol communities or otherwise engage in general law enforcement activities beyond the immediate vicinity of federal buildings or other federal real property.' They argued that the 'use of the military and the federalized National Guard deprives the State of vital resources, escalates tensions and promotes (rather than quells) civil unrest. By contrast, the public interest is served if the Court enjoins Defendants from further militarizing California's communities to allow State and local law enforcement to fulfill their duties to enforce State law. Moreover, a preliminary injunction will not harm Defendants: the Department of Homeland Security can continue to enforce immigration law and the DOD Defendants will merely be ordered to comply with the PCA and statutes governing the federalization of the National Guard.' Newsom filed suit against Trump and the administration on Monday, arguing that the president overstepped his authority when he dispatched National Guard troops to the region to respond to protests of ICE immigration raids. Newsom said that Trump violated the law by not consulting with him first before the deployment. More to come.
