Jamshedpur: Two persons on a bike were mowed by a speeding dumper near
Jai Prakash Setu
(Mango bridge) on Sunday. The deceased are Subedar Prasad (50) and Rohit Soren (42). Residents of Panchwatinagar in Sonari, the two men were returning home from their workplace in Mango when they met with the accident.
Pedestrians and local residents rushed them to MGMMCH, but they died on way to the hospital. Sakchi police station in-charge, Anand Mishra, said that the driver sped away with the vehicle after the accident."CCTVs on the stretch are being scanned to identify the vehicle. The bodies were sent to MGMMCH for autopsy, and further investigation is on," he said.

Nagpur: Sachin Kukde (39), a resident of Teacher Colony, Hinganghat, was sentenced to a total of 12 years rigorous imprisonment and fined heavily for the sexual abuse of a minor girl. The judgment was pronounced by district and sessions judge HC Shende on Saturday. The incident occurred when the minor girl was alone at her home. Kukde, currently residing at Borkhedi Phata, Butibori, allegedly entered the complainant's house and forcibly sexually abused the minor victim. He also threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. According to the police, the crime was registered at Butibori police station following a complaint by the victim's family. The case was registered under sections 327/23, 376 (A, B), 376 (3), 452, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 4 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The investigation was led by sub-divisional police officer Puja Gaikwad, who filed a chargesheet against the accused. The court found the accused guilty and handed down the following sentences: 12 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs10,000 under section 376 (A, B) and 511 IPC (with six months simple imprisonment in default of fine payment); seven years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs5,000 under section 452 IPC (with three months simple imprisonment in default); and an additional 12 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs10,000 under section 376 (3) and 511 IPC, read with sections 4 and 6 of the POCSO Act (with six months simple imprisonment in default). Public prosecutor Deepika Gawli represented the govt in the case, while Anil Vyavare from Butibori police station acted as a legal assistant. Chhapra: Boyfriend of a girl allegedly stabbed her father to death at Khas Patti village under Amnour PS area in Saran district late on Friday night. Family members of the girl caught the accused, thrashed him, and later handed him over to the police. The girl also sustained minor injuries. The deceased has been identified as Moti Lal Mahto (50), son of Suraj Mahto. Police arrested the accused, Ram Babu Kumar (22), of the same village and the girl Anita Kumari (19). According to the villagers, the father of the girl noticed some noise coming out of the girl's room. When he entered her room and tried to catch Ram Babu, he allegedly attacked him with a knife causing his instant death. Police sent the body for postmortem at Chhapra and started a probe into the case. SHO of Amnour PS, Kundan Kumar, said an FIR has been lodged on the statement of elder son of the deceased Vikas Kumar against the accused Ram Babu, son of one Nathuni Mahto and Anita. Fire breaks out at Namakkal metal scrap shop

NAMAKKAL: A fire broke out at a metal scrap shop in Vallipuram in Namakkal district on Saturday. The shop belonged to Muthu, 56. He had stored old vehicle spare parts on the premises. "Fire erupted at the scrap shop around 8 am," said a firefighter from the Namakkal town fire station. The whole area was engulfed in smoke due to the fire. Fire and rescue services personnel fought for two hours to extinguish the blaze. The Namakkal town police have registered a case and began investigations. State health minister Ma Subramanian, who was in Namakkal district to attend a few events and was heading to Paramathi Velur for hospital inspection, halted his vehicle on seeing the fire.
