Eagles host Syracuse running back on a local visit

Yahoo26-04-2025

The Philadelphia Eagles are conducting more work on running backs in the upcoming NFL Draft.
According to his Instagram story, Syracuse running back LeQuint Allen visited the NovaCare Complex this week on a pre-draft visit. Allen is a Millville, New Jersey native, so this qualifies as a local visit.

Allen is a versatile back with adequate size and speed. He's decisive and gets what he can on most carries but lacks burst, imagination and contact force to create on his own. He's a reliable pass-catching option with natural hands and an ability to run routes and find yards after the catch. His pass-protection willingness and execution stands out against others in this class. Allen's ability to cover kicks and return punts adds to his value as a potential Day 3 pick who could compete for a role as a third-down option.
Philadelphia hosted Texas RB Jaydon Blue on a top-30 visit last month, so they're clearly interested in adding more talent to their backfield. The Eagles extended Saquon Barkley this offseason and have newly signed A.J. Dillon and second-year player Will Shipley behind him.
Kenneth Gainwell was the team's primary pass-catching back on third downs last season. With Gainwell leaving for Pittsburgh in free agency, Allen's versatile skill set could help fill those snaps.
Allen posted 2,085 rushing yards and 30 total touchdowns over his final two seasons at Syracuse.

Eagles' Saquon Barkley hints NFL retirement will be sudden and come 'out of nowhere'

After eclipsing the 2,000-yard rushing mark during the 2024 regular season, Saquon Barkley was named the cover athlete for "Madden NFL 26." Barkley signed with the Philadelphia Eagles last offseason. His historic first year in Philly earned him Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors. By all accounts, the 28-year-old will enter the 2025 season in the prime of his career. However, the star running back recently hinted that when he does eventually step away from the game, it could be sudden. During a recent appearance on former NFL player Chris Long's "Green Light Podcast," Barkley was asked if he would step away while he was still at the peak of his career or if he would stick around. "I'll probably [be] one of those guys that it would be out of nowhere," Barkley responded in reference to his eventual retirement. "I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years and just be like, 'Yeah, it's over.' I don't think I will ever lose that passion." Barkley then cited Pro Football Hall of Famer Barry Sanders' shocking decision to walk away from the NFL in 1998. "The competitive nature is always going to be there. I like, probably my favorite player of all time is Barry Sanders, so probably similar to that. Maybe one day, like it'll be out of nowhere, I'll probably be ballin', and just be like, 'Yeah, call it quits.'" Sanders racked up 15,269 career rushing yards before he abruptly retired. He needed less than 1,500 yards to catch up to Walter Payton's then all-time rushing record. Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith currently sits atop the league's all-time list. The Eagles rewarded Barkley's productive 2024 campaign with a lucrative two-year contract extension. Barkley entered the 2025 campaign with 7,216 career rushing yards and was a key part of the Eagles' run to the Super Bowl LIX title. Barkley is credited with seven NFL seasons, while Sanders played a total of 10 years in the league. Warren JFK's Ryan to join national championship basketball program

WARREN, Ohio (WKBN) – Warren JFK senior Nick Ryan will continue his academic and athletic career at Trine University. The Eagles basketball standout signed his letter of intent on Thursday. 'Once I went down to Trine, I was like, 'Oh my goodness, this place is unbelievable,'' Ryan said. 'From the facilities to the campus, everything about it was just unbelievable.' Ryan led Kennedy in points (26.5), rebounds (11.5), assists (2.5) and steals (2.7) last season, and was twice named to our WKBN Starting 5. The reigning Trumbull County Player of the Year helped lead the Eagles to 72 career wins and two District titles. He will graduate as the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder with 1,928 career points and 890 rebounds. 'It was a very big goal of mine to be at the top of the list once I left JFK, so being able to do that was a big accomplishment,' Ryan said. 'I just want to leave a legacy behind. Like, not only was I a good basketball player but I was a good person as well.' Trine University is an NCAA Division III basketball program that competes in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Thunder were 21-5 overall last season and won the NCAA National Championship in 2024. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Giants' Kayvon Thibodeaux rips Eagles fans with incendiary comments that could backfire

The Giants are in no place to claim bragging rights over the Super Bowl champion Eagles, but that didn't stop Kayvon Thibodeaux from brutally roasting Philly fans on Kevin Hart's podcast. 'Is it true that Eagles fans are actually, like, not smart?' Thibodeaux asked Hart from an ice bath on a recent episode of the comedian's 'Cold As Balls' show. 'There are statistics that you guys are literally f—ing idiots.' Hart panned to the camera with an incredulous look as Thibodeaux kept going. 'Like, no bulls–t, I know you're one of them, so I get it. Like, 2.2 [GPA], I get it,' the star pass rusher told Hart, a Philadelphia native and diehard Eagles fan. The Giants, of course, finished last season 3-14 and went 0-2 against Philadelphia, which won its second overall Super Bowl with former Big Blue first-round pick Saquon Barkley starring in the backfield. In Thibodeaux's three years in New York, the Giants have a combined record of 18-32-1. The Eagles have gone a combined 39-12 over the same stretch. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux asked Kevin Hart about Eagles fans. @underdog/X Nonetheless, Thibodeaux seemed to be enjoying the lighthearted banter with Hart on the podcast, which released April 29. Some fans on social media seemed to appreciate the trash talk. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux in a game in October 2023. Others, not so much. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux and Kevin Hart on Hart's 'Cold As Balls' show. @Underdog/X 'They're just gonna make him hate them even more now lmao,' said another user. Outside of the anti-Eagles ribbing, the two discussed Thibodeaux's football journey, played a game of chess and debated which position Hart would play in Philly's trademark 'tush push' – all while sitting in side-by-side ice baths. 5 Kayvon Thibodeaux doesn't seem to think highly of Eagles fans. Matthew McDermott The Eagles and Giants will face off on 'Thursday Night Football' in Week 6 – where Thibodeaux will get the chance to back up his jab with a big game. If that doesn't happen? The star pass rusher will surely be reminded of his comments by the ever-rabid Philly faithful.
