Singapore, Singapore--(Newsfile Corp. - May 22, 2025) - Mobile-health Network Solutions (Nasdaq: MNDR) ('MNDR' or 'the Company'), a leading MedTech innovator ranked among Asia-Pacific's high-growth companies, today unveiled a new tele-dentistry service that is soon expected to let patients perform an AI-enhanced dental scan at home using the Company's MNDR telemedicine app, with expert-reviewed reports delivered within 24 hours.
The service, which MNDR will market to its user base, is intended to encourage the significant population of Southeast Asia patients who do not regularly make in-person visits for dental care to do so on a more frequent and, if necessary, expedited basis.
Under the agreement, finalized last week via an MOU signed with Oral Link Pte Ltd ('OralLink'), a Singapore-based provider of AI-enabled dental scans, and Elite Dental Group Singapore Pte Ltd ('Elite Dental'), a boutique dental clinic, patients will be able to purchase a tele-dentistry package in the MNDR app, follow guided steps to capture intraoral images with their smartphone, and receive a detailed AI-generated report in their dashboard. The report will highlight potential concerns, from cavities and gum issues to early warning signs of more serious conditions, and will be accessible anywhere, anytime from the app.
Patients will then proceed to an included pre-booked appointment at Elite Dental Group or other partnered clinics, where their dentist will review the AI findings and perform a clinical examination to finalize a personalized treatment plan.
This process alleviates the need for a patient to make an in-person clinic visit in order to receive an initial diagnosis, and provides the patient with timely and professional in-person dental follow-up care to treat all relevant concerns and conditions.
The service will launch in Singapore this summer, with expansion planned for Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines by mid-2026. MNDR will receive an appointment booking fee and platform usage fee for each patient tele-dentistry session.
'We are very excited to establish this preventive health service,' said Dr. Siaw Tung Yeng, Co-CEO. 'Millions of patients in Southeast Asia do not visit a dentist at least once a year, and many of these persons could be at higher risk of developing a range of dental or oral health conditions. AI-enabled dental scans, however, are today capable of human-level accuracy in detecting these conditions, including cavities, periodontal disease, root fractures, and even oral cancer, and can provide these results fast and conveniently, thereby encouraging more patients to get the in-person dental assistance they may need.
'We look forward to making this important technology available to all users of our MNDR platform.'
According to the World Health Organization 1, oral diseases are estimated to affect nearly 3.7 billion people globally. The WHO also reported that untreated dental caries (tooth decay) in permanent teeth is the most common health condition, according to the Global Burden of Disease 2021 study.

Asian Currencies Consolidate Amid Mild Risk Appetite

0038 GMT — Asian currencies consolidate against the dollar in early trade amid mild appetite for risky assets. The main theme has been risk-on, Commerzbank Research analysts say in a research report. The U.S. employment report released Friday was better than expected, they note. Even though U.S. employment growth continued to slow in May, the data still pointed to resilience in the labor market. USD/KRW edges 0.2% higher to 1,361.46, USD/SGD is little changed at 1.2887, and AUD/USD is up 0.1% at 0.6501, FactSet data show. (

Motor insurance premiums likely to continue to rise as claims and costs surge

SINGAPORE – Motor insurance premiums are expected to continue rising as insurers grapple with mounting losses and rising claims, said industry experts. Latest industry statistics from the General Insurance Association (GIA) seen by The Straits Times show that in the first three months of 2025, gross written premiums for motor insurance rose by 9.4 per cent to $368.2 million, compared with the same period in 2024. Underwriting losses were up by about 14 per cent from $11.6 million to $13.3 million. For the full year of 2024, underwriting losses widened significantly to $33.8 million, from $7.7 million in 2023 and $21.6 million in 2022. This marked a sharp reversal from the underwriting profits of $49.7 million in 2021 and $104.5 million in 2020. Meanwhile, gross written premiums rose 11.3 per cent to $1.21 billion in 2024. Several factors are driving this trend. Insurers grappling with more accident claims and rising repair costs in a competitive market is one reason, said Ms Judy Ng, partner of financial services consulting at KPMG in Singapore. Global inflation, which has pushed up the cost of vehicle parts, and the growing presence of electric vehicles (EVs) which are more expensive to repair are also contributing to mounting expenses. 'Insurers have incurred higher costs of motor claims due to their efforts to fulfil a rising number and cost of motor accidents amid market competition,' said Ms Ng. 'An increase in the number of electric vehicles is another factor, as it can be costlier to repair EVs.' Even leading insurers are not immune to the pressures. GIA's industry rankings for the first quarter of 2025 showed that Income Insurance retained its top spot with a 25 per cent market share. Its gross written premiums rose by $6 million, but its underwriting profit nearly halved, dropping from $9.4 million in the first three months of 2024 to $4.5 million in the same period in 2025. Liberty Insurance stood out for posting the largest improvement in underwriting results, bouncing back from a $567,000 loss in the first quarter of 2024 to a $2.1 million profit in 2025. Allianz Insurance Singapore, on the other hand, saw the sharpest contraction in gross written premiums, falling 18.6 per cent from $26.4 million to $21.5 million. Mr Timothy Jude Fu-Tien Wimala, chief executive of insurance broker Anika, noted that among the six major motor insurers which collectively hold about 65 per cent of the market, AIG and Liberty stood out for achieving strong organic growth from strategic increases of premiums for existing policies being renewed. He said: 'AIG impresses with strong organic growth, leading to a gross written premium increase of more than 17 per cent, while keeping its market share flat. Essentially, AIG has found a way to increase its pricing while persuading its customers to stick around. 'Liberty, however, has beaten everyone in the Big Six by increasing its gross written premiums by more than 21 per cent and still keeping its customer base with market share essentially unchanged.' The Big Six motor insurers in Singapore – ranked by gross written premiums, from highest to lowest for January to March 2025 – are Income, MS First Capital, AIG, India International Insurance, Allianz and Liberty. Generally, insurers that failed to raise premiums lost ground, and even those with meaningful increases saw only marginal share gains. 'This illustrates how the costs of claims and operations are escalating premium growth and customers will carry the load of these increases,' said Mr Wimala. 'Unless insurers can better control claims and manage operating expenses, the only direction for motor premiums is up.' On the consumer end, car owners are already feeling the pinch. Car dealer Fed Wu said one of his customers, a luxury sedan driver with a clean claims record, experienced a 25 per cent hike in his insurance premium after four years with the same insurer – from $1,200 to $1,500. He eventually switched to another insurer, buying a new policy online for $1,101. 'With prices so high, many customers just pick the insurer that offers the lowest premium,' said Mr Wu. While the current pricing pain may eventually ease, some volatility remains. 'Premiums could stabilise over time as insurers adjust to higher claims costs, and more accurately estimate and reflect these rising costs in their prices,' said Ms Ng of KPMG. 'However, some level of increase can still be anticipated in the future to cater for general claims inflation and other emerging factors.' In the meantime, the message is clear: As long as claims stay high and repair costs keep climbing, insurers are likely to say they have little choice but to pass those costs on to consumers. China's AI lab unveils RoboBrain 2.0 model to accelerate humanoid robot development

In a move that will further assert China's bid to scale robotics industry, the Beijing Academy of Artificial Intelligence (BAAI)—a not for profit research laboratory—unveiled last week a series of new open-source artificial intelligence (AI) models, dubbed RoboBrain 2.0, that will function as the 'brain' of robots. According to BAAI head Wang Zhongyuan, the use of powerful AI models in China's booming robotics market could accelerate the development and adoption of humanoids, as the sector works to overcome key challenges such as limited model capabilities and a lack of high-quality training data. Wang further explained that BAAI is actively seeking collaboration across the embodied intelligence industry, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to accelerate progress. He noted that the institute is working with more than 20 leading companies in the sector and is looking to expand its network of partners to drive continued growth. Unveiled as part of China's broader push to advance intelligent machines, RoboBrain 2.0 was described by Wang as the world's most powerful open-source AI model designed to enhance a wide range of robots, including humanoids. Its debut positions BAAI as a potential key player in the evolving sector, the South China Morning Post reported. Furthermore, RoboBrain 2.0 introduces major improvements in spatial intelligence and task planning, delivering a 17% boost in speed and a 74% increase in accuracy compared to the previous version launched just three months earlier. With enhanced spatial intelligence, robots can now perceive distances from surrounding objects more precisely, while advanced task planning enables them to autonomously deconstruct complex activities into manageable steps, significantly improving overall performance. The RoboBrain model is part of the Wujie series, which also includes RoboOS 2.0—a cloud platform for deploying robotics AI models—and Emu3, a multimodal system capable of interpreting and generating text, images, and video. BAAI is one of China's early developers of open-source large language models, the technology behind generative AI chatbots. Several former employees have used their experience at BAAI to start their own AI companies, helping to grow the AI startup community in China. China's push to lead in robotics AI involves multiple players, with BAAI joined by the Beijing Humanoid Robot Innovation Centre, which earlier this year launched Hui Si Kai Wu—a general-purpose embodied AI platform. The center is also known for developing the Tien Kung humanoid robot, which made headlines after completing a half-marathon in Beijing in April. The Chinese institution aims to have its platform become the "Android of humanoid robots," serving as a standard operating system much like Google's Android does in the smartphone industry. Moreover, this year's edition of the BAAI Conference attracted over 100 AI researchers from around the world and more than 200 industry experts, including leaders from major Chinese tech companies such as Baidu, Huawei Technologies, and Tencent Holdings. Additionally, the Chinese academy also announced a strategic partnership with the Hong Kong Investment Corporation to collaborate on talent development, technology advancement, and capital investment aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the country's AI sector.
