Two arrested after car crashes into van
Two people have been arrested after the driver of a car failed to stop for police, sped off and then collided with a parked van.
Officers were on patrol in Harrogate at about 02:00 BST on Thursday when they saw a Kia Ceed being driven "in suspicious circumstances" in Mayfield Grove, according to North Yorkshire Police.
The car was driven away at high speed before crashing into a parked van on Walworth Avenue.
A man, 20, and woman, 18, were arrested nearby on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop. The car was seized for forensic examination.

County lines drug dealer jailed after police raids
A county lines drug dealer has been jailed after being caught with class A drugs during a police operation targeting suppliers and traffickers. Mohammed Fiaz, 40, of Newark Avenue in Peterborough, was caught during a dawn raid on his home as part of Operation Hypernova, a Cambridgeshire force-wide crackdown on county lines drug dealing and human trafficking. Police found three mobile phones, with messages linking him to dealing crack cocaine and heroin. At Peterborough Crown Court Fiaz admitted being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine and on Tuesday was sentenced to 30 months in jail. Det Con Stacey Neve, said: "Fiaz was sending bulk messages to vulnerable users advertising crack cocaine and heroin for sale in order to pocket the cash. "We will continue to make the county hostile towards county lines drug dealers and prevent further exploitation of young and vulnerable people." Operation Hypernova 3 took place in March and resulted in 50 county lines being dismantled and 35 people charged with more than 100 drug and human trafficking offences, Cambridgeshire Police said. Blackmail arrest in Bradford murder inquiry
A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of blackmail by officers investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Bradford. Mohammed Junaid Khan, 19, died after being injured in a knife fight involving a number of men in Loughrigg Street, in the West Bowling area of the city, on Friday. The latest arrest brings the number of people detained in connection with his death to nine. West Yorkshire Police said the 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, who was arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday, remained in custody. Two other men, aged 27 and 24, were also stabbed during the fighting, police said. The force said a 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder, two men, aged 27 and 24, who were arrested on suspicion of affray and a 53-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have all been released under investigation. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been as bailed pending further enquiries as have two men aged 26 and 27, who were held on suspicion of affray. Cat owner horrified after pet 'shaved in attack'
A cat owner has been left shocked after her beloved pet returned home with missing fur, which is believed to have been shaved. Jacqui Field, who lives in Gosberton, near Spalding in Lincolnshire, said she found her cat, Bertie, was missing a "big lump of fur from his side" on 7 May. Mrs Field said: "I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Someone must have held him down to do it and it's just a horrible, horrible feeling. It's disgraceful." Lincolnshire Police said it would encourage anyone who is aware of any incidents to report them to the force and to the RSPCA. Mrs Field said the attack on her cat, which is three years old, had left the animal "very, very subdued" and needing to be "persuaded to come for food". She said: "He didn't want to come near anybody, which is very out of character because he normally comes, jumps on my lap and loves a cuddle. "It felt like he was shying away from everyone in case they were going to hurt him." Mrs Field also said that she thought more than one person would have been involved because her pet would have "wiggled and run away if he wasn't held down". Similar attacks were reported on other pets in Pinchbeck, near Spalding, and Kirton, near Boston, in February. It is not known if the incidents are linked.
