FedEx Cup finale at East Lake goes to a 72-hole shootout where everyone starts from scratch
DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — The PGA Tour voted to overhaul the season-ending Tour Championship so that all 30 players start from scratch and the low score on a tougher East Lake course wins the FedEx Cup.
The change is effective this year, with more tweaks still in the works. The announcement Tuesday evening followed a PGA Tour board vote and a meeting of the Player Advisory Council that has been trying for more than six months to find a solution.

Reddick announced on social media earlier Sunday that his family welcomed their second son at 2:20 a.m. on May 25. Tennessee overcomes controversial call, defeats UCLA to reach Women's CWS semifinals
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Laura Mealer's RBI single in the ninth inning gave Tennessee a 5-4 win over UCLA on Sunday that lifted the Volunteers into the Women's College World Series semifinals and eliminated the Bruins. The game nearly had a controversial finish. UCLA's Megan Grant hit a two-run blast with two outs in the top of the seventh inning that appeared to tie the score at 4-all. There was an umpire review that appeared to involve whether or not Grant touched home plate. After a nearly 15-minute delay, the home run ruling was upheld because it was determined on the field that the runs were scored, and the home plate umpire announced that the play was not reviewable. Had Grant been called out, the game would have ended with Tennessee winning 4-2. Even after giving up the homer, Tennessee's Karlyn Pickens recovered and went the distance for the win. The first-team National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American gave up four earned runs on 11 hits and struck out seven. She threw 148 pitches. Taylor Pannell's two-run homer put Tennessee up 4-2 in the fifth to help set up the dramatic ending. She had three hits. Tennessee (47-16) will play Texas on Monday in the semifinals and will have the beat the Longhorns twice to advance to the best-of-three championship series. Texas will need to win just once to reach the championship series for the third time in four years. UCLA's Alexis Ramirez and Sofia Mujica hit solo homers. Sweden's Maja Stark wins the U.S. Women's Open for her first major championship
ERIN, Wis. (AP) — Maja Stark continued the steady play she had demonstrated all week to win the U.S. Women's Open and claim her first major championship Sunday at Erin Hills. Stark carded a final round 72 and finished with a four-round total of 7-under 281 to beat top-ranked Nelly Korda and Japan's Rio Takeda by two strokes. Stark received a $2.4 million winner's prize in the biggest event of the women's golf season. The 25-year-old Stark became the sixth Swede to win an LPGA major, and the first since Anna Nordqvist earned the Women's British Open title in 2021. Stark, who played at Oklahoma State from 2019-21, is the first Swede to win a U.S. Women's Open since Annika Sorenstam in 2006. This is Stark's second LPGA title. She also won the 2022 ISPS Handa World Invitational, a Ladies European Tour event in Northern Ireland that was co-sanctioned with the LPGA Tour.
