Here's Everything Wrong With A $1.8 Million Aston Martin One-77 That Covered 25,000 Miles
Aston Martin built some pretty incredible models over its 110-year existence like the DB5, which found fame on the silver screen, and the DBR9, which won its class in Le Mans two years running. One of its wildest creations is the One-77, which was meant to show what the British brand could muster when it really put its mind to it.
When it premiered in 2009, the One-77 packed a roaring 7.3 liter V12 under the hood and awesome styling that took Aston's design language of the time to the extreme. Just 77 of the incredible cars were sold, each with a price tag of more than a million dollars.
Well, that's what Aston told its buyers at the time at least, as a 78th One-77 was sold to a buyer in America and it's one of the highest-mileage examples out there.

The 78th One-77 started its life as a prototype car Aston Martin built for the development of its new monster. The car was displayed at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and ran on countless race-tracks around the world during development of the One-77, as CarBuzz reports. Once all 77 One-77s were sold, an Aston collector approached the brand about restoring the prototype, as the site explains:
Two years later, this One-77 had already covered 22,000 miles. It was even used as a safety car for the Aston Martin Racing Le Mans Festival. It caught fire between its stint as a safety car and 2017, but the damage wasn't severe. By 2017, chassis #10711 had clocked 23,835 miles, and around this time, Aston Martin accepted an offer to restore the car for a large sum.
The restoration was pretty extensive, and included the installation of a new grille, new diffuser, new wheels, headlights, taillights and the entire interior as overhauled and replaced. The mechanics of the One-77 were kept intact, however, and the engine and transmission were left "undisturbed" in the process.
Because many of the parts on this car were left fresh from the factory, it's needed its fair share of work over the past few years. After roughly 25,000 miles on the odometer, the One-77 racked up a costly list of repairs, which were documented by High Mileage Reviews over on YouTube.
In a test drive of the One-77, the channel listed off the required repairs, which include a $45,000 bill to replace the air conditioning pump and a $10,000 windshield wiper motor replacement. The mirror controls have also gone and the motor that controls the pop-up sat nav also has issues, but there's no word on what it costs to fix those parts.
Despite the high repair costs, the current owner still drives their One-77, the channel reports. That's good to hear, as this One-77 covered more miles than the three other examples that are currently for sale around the world, so at least one owner is making the most of their 750hp monster.

Musk Loses Billions as Tesla Price Plummets Over Trump War
The fight between Donald Trump and Elon Musk over the GOP tax bill caused even more problems for Musk's electric car company, Tesla, Thursday. Musk's public disagreement with the president, centered around the legislation's proposal to end clean energy tax credits, contributed to Tesla's stock price tumbling more than 10 percent as of publication Thursday afternoon. At the opening bell, one share of Tesla was worth about $322. Its value is currently listed at just under $300, with a substantial drop coming after Trump torched Musk from the Oval Office. 'Elon and I had a great relationship. I don't know if we will anymore,' Trump said around noontime. 'I'm very disappointed with Elon,' he continued. 'I've helped him a lot. He knew the inner workings of the bill better than anybody sitting here. He had no problem with it. All of a sudden he had a problem and he only developed the problem when he found out we're going to cut the EV [Electric Vehicle] mandate.' Musk, who was obviously listening, shot back on X minutes later: 'False, this bill was never shown to me even once and was passed in the dead of night so fast that almost no one in Congress could even read it!' 'Without me, Trump would have lost the election,' added Musk, who donated about $275 million to Trump's campaign. 'Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.' Trump, he claimed, was showing 'such ingratitude.' The legislation that Trump has affectionately called the 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill' would do away with a tax credit worth up to $7,500 for some Tesla models. This would cause Tesla to lose $1.2 billion this year alone, JPMorgan analysts predicted, according to Bloomberg. That's on top of an estimated $2 billion loss due to the Senate last month blocking a Biden-era Environmental Protection Agency waiver allowing California to ban gas-powered cars by 2035. Tesla, in a social media post last week, warned that nixing the tax credit would 'threaten America's energy independence and the reliability of our grid.' The company, which has more of Musk's attention since his exit from the so-called Department of Government Efficiency, is coming out a rough first quarter in part due to the backlash to Musk's slash-and-burn role at DOGE and the effect of Trump's tariffs, which Musk opposed. Vehicle deliveries, for instance, fell nearly 13 percent in the first three months of the year, a period that saw several dips in stock prices. To help counter that, Trump and Musk in March used the White House driveway to line up various Tesla models and urge Americans to buy them. Consumer sentiment didn't appear to come around, though, as protests at Tesla dealerships and instances of vandalism continued. Is This Mystery Box-Flared, Winged Subaru a New STI—Or Just Another WRX?
Subaru fans might have a reason to get excited again. With the high-performance STI version of the iconic WRX still in the wilderness, fans have been eagerly awaiting news that the rally and motorsports special might return. During the 2025 running of the 24-hour endurance round of the Super Taikyu series, Subaru unveiled an image to the press on hand that, to us, is throwing strong "STI" vibes. Of course, Subaru provided virtually zero details on this interesting... whatever it is. According to Car Watch the presentation during Super Taikyu round 3 at Fuji included Tetsuro Fujinuki, Chief Technical Officer and Executive Managing Director of Subaru, who briefly spoke about a new WRX that will be unveiled at the Japan Mobility Show on October 29 and 30. While he wanted to talk further about it, he said 'but I got scolded, so I'm going to be a little vague.' He described it as a car that was 'a little more Subaru-like' and that it would utilize the technological assets Subaru currently has. 'A little further down the line,' said Fujinuki, 'we would like to create an even more cutting-edge car.' What that means is up to interpretation and speculation, but Car Watch was inclined to think it was something to do with the jointly developed Toyota Hybrid System found in Subaru's Crosstrek Hybrid and Forester Hybrid, albeit adapted to suit with a turbocharged 2.4-liter flat-four engine like the FA24 under the hood of the 2025 WRX. For what it's worth, Subaru has been pretty clear that any would-be STI likely would not be based on the WRX as we know it, and would probably incorporate some electrification. Again, Car Watch's speculation seems spot-on in regard to the hybridization theory, but it's less clear whether this mystery machine represents something beyond a WRX sedan. (Past STI models have been relatively closely related to the regular WRX, sort of like a Volkswagen Golf R is to the GTI.) The car pictured above certainly isn't just any old WRX, and its body, face, and general appearance seems different enough that we could be looking at a different car altogether. The only question is whether that car is an STI. All we know is, we're excited to see what this car and its box-flared body, aggressive splitter, and interesting looking rear wing will evolve into at the Japan Mobility Show.
