Over 200 electric car makers to participate in IESW 2025
Over 200 domestic passenger car manufacturers and international electric vehicle players are expected to participate in the upcoming
India Energy Storage Week
(IESW), scheduled for next month.

(IESA) is hosting the 11th edition of IESW from July 8 to July 10, at the Yashobhoomi Convention and Expo Centre in New Delhi, a statement said.
IESW 2025
is projected to attract over 200 domestic passenger car manufacturers and international electric vehicle (EV) makers to bolster India's vision of becoming a global manufacturing hub, according to the statement.
India is making significant strides in positioning itself as one of the world's largest electric three-wheelers (e-3W) markets. In a remarkably short period, it has become a major player in the electric two-wheeler (e-2W) market.
This achievement has been fuelled by transformative government policies such as the PLI Auto, PLI ACC, FAME, and PM e-Drive, which focus on stimulating both demand and supply and establishing an EV ecosystem in the country, it added.
According to Fortune Business Insights, the Indian electric vehicle market is projected to reach USD 117.78 billion by 2032 at a CAGR of 22.4 per cent.
Amid these developments, the government's EV Manufacturing Guidelines under SPMEPCI are commendable, said IESA.
The upcoming IESW 2025 aligns with this ambitious goal.

, IESA stated.
More than 150 key partners, exhibitors, and over 1,000 companies from Australia, Germany, France, the UK, Finland, Canada, the USA, Israel, and South Korea are expected to participate in the IESW 2025 event at the Yashobhoomi Convention and Expo Centre.
Director of eMobility at Customized Energy Solutions (CES) Gurusharan Dhillon said, "SPMEPCI strikes a strategic balance between custom duty concessions linked to Investment, defined Domestic Value addition milestones, and the inclusion of the scope of Engineering Research & Development, Software, Testing, and Charging Infrastructure. These elements are crucial in facilitating the introduction of advanced global technologies, nurturing indigenous manufacturing capabilities, and building a robust supply chain ecosystem within India."
As a membership-driven organisation, the IESA is dedicated to collaborating with stakeholders to explore opportunities in research and development, the manufacturing of E-Mobility technologies, and advocating for the adoption of clean transportation in India.
Debmalaya Sen, President, IESA, emphasised, "SPMEPCI is a revolutionary step and will strengthen Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for industrial transformation... Through IESW, we will witness the convergence of world-class innovations and foreign investments that will drive our industry forward."
IESA is also collaborating with Gujarat, Odisha, Telangana, and Chhattisgarh for the event that aims to enhance the overall quality and functionality of the existing ecosystem by pioneering groundbreaking solutions and innovations that can reshape the industry's landscape at IESW 2025.

TOYO, MODEC inaugurate Global Capability Centre in Bengaluru
Bengaluru, Jun 13 (UNI) Toyo Engineering Corporation (Toyo Japan) and MODEC, Inc (MODEC) on Friday announced the inauguration of their joint Global Capability Centre (GCC), TOYO MODEC OFS India Private Limited (OFS India) here, marking a key milestone in their global expansion and innovation strategy. OFS India is a joint venture between Toyo Engineering India Private Limited (Toyo India), a subsidiary of Toyo Japan, and Offshore Frontier Solutions Pte. Ltd. (OFS), part of the MODEC Group. Air India plane crash: Tata Group-owned Air India's Boeing 787 Dreamliner went down on Thursday near Ahmedabad airport shortly after takeoff. The tragic crash, which claimed the lives of 241 passengers on board, was the first time that the wide-body jet suffered a fatal accident. There are 1,148 Boeing 787 variants currently in service. Air India and IndiGo are the two Indian airlines operating the B787 planes. As of 2025, Air India operates 34 Boeing 787 aircraft in its fleet. Budget airline IndiGo has six wide-body aircraft on damp lease from Norse Atlantic, including two added under an agreement signed in May 2025, reported Reuters. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft that plunged into a deadly crash in Gujarat's Ahmedabad was 11.5 years old and had flown for more than 41,000 hours, reported PTI, citing aviation analytics firm Cirium. It was delivered to Air India on January 28, 2014. "The aircraft had 18 business class seats and 238 economy class seats. It had more than 41,000 hours of flying time, and almost 8,000 takeoffs and landings, including some 700 cycles in the past 12 months. This is average for that aircraft build year/period," stated Cirium. Of the 34 Boeing 787s in Air India's fleet, 27 are older B787-8 aircraft. The first of these legacy jets is scheduled for retrofit in July. The remaining seven, newer B787-9s, were added to the fleet following last year's merger with Vistara. Air India faced issues with its Dreamliner fleet back in 2013 due to battery malfunctions. The problems led the then government-owned airline to temporarily ground its six Boeing 787 aircraft. Boeing later compensated Air India for the disruptions caused by the technical faults. Designed for long-haul air travel, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was first introduced into commercial service in 2011 by Japan's All Nippon Airways. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner comes in three variants, each tailored for different passenger capacities and flight ranges: 787-8: Can carry up to 248 passengers and offers a range of 13,530 km. 787-9: Accommodates up to 296 passengers with a longer range of 14,010 km. 787-10: The largest of the trio, carrying up to 330 passengers, with a range of 11,910 km. As per Boeing, the 787 Dreamliner stands out for its lightweight body, quieter take-offs and landings.

India China to restart direct flights, talks to resolve trade issues; Wang Yi to visit India
With the US and China keen on formally inking a deal to end the trade war between the 2 countries, India is stepping up efforts to mend relations with Beijing. In talks between foreign secretary Vikram Misri and visiting Chinese vice foreign minister Sun Weidong, India and China agreed to expedite measures to resume direct air services and to hold 'certain functional dialogues' to resolve specific issues of concern in, among other things, trade and economy Misri hosted Sun this week for a rare high-level bilateral visit from China, as first reported by TOI on Wednesday, and their second meeting this year, following the engagement in Beijing in January during which both sides had announced several measures to normalise the relationship. On this occasion, they agreed to continue to stabilize and rebuild ties with focus on people-centric engagements. According to Beijing, India reaffirmed its support for the ongoing Chinese presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) and the 2 sides also agreed to prepare for the 24th Meeting of the Special Representatives' (SR) on the India-China Boundary Question in India. The SR talks resumed in December last year after a gap of 5 years, with NSA Ajit Doval travelling to China. It was then announced that his counterpart Wang Yi would travel to India in 2025 for another round of talks. Beijing remains keen that PM Narendra Modi visit China this year for the SCO summit in Tianjin that will also see Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif in attendance. India has not confirmed Modi's participation and yet and will probably wait to see the outcomes of the SR meeting, which could take place as early as next month, and the SCO foreign ministers' meeting – ahead of the summit - that may have external affairs minister S Jaishankar participating. India did not mention SCO in its readout. Sun also called on Doval during his visit. 'The two sides agreed to expedite steps involved in resuming direct air services between the two countries. Foreign Secretary hoped for the early conclusion of an updated Air Services Agreement,'' said an Indian readout, adding that they further agreed to take practical steps for visa facilitation and exchanges between media and think-tanks. Misri appreciated China's support for resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra this month and expressed hope for progress on trans-border river cooperation, including hydrological data sharing. India had earlier raised concerns about China's construction of apparently the world's largest hydropower dam on the Brahmaputra River, known as Yarlung Tsangpo in Tibet. India wants to resolve trade and economic issues, including China's export controls on rare earth-related items, in a way that can promote long-term policy transparency and predictability. On the rare earth issues, the Indian government had said this week that it's in touch with Beijing to bring predictability in supply chain for trade, consistent with international practices. According to the Indian readout, the 2 two sides 'positively assessed the activities planned under the 75th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between India and China and agreed to facilitate the same'. The Chinese readout of the Misri-Sun talks said that both sides pushed for resumption of direct flights, people-to-people exchanges and resumption of bilateral dialogue mechanisms steadily. According to Beijing, Sun said that both sides should follow the important understandings reached by Modi and President Xi Jinping during their meeting in Kazan last year, following the agreement to end the military standoff in eastern Ladakh. He also called for increasing mutual trust, properly handling differences and playing a constructive role in maintaining international peace and stability.
