Pulp score first UK number one album in 27 years with More
The last time the Sheffield-based group topped the UK album charts was in 1998 with This Is Hardcore which followed on from their best-known studio album, Different Class, released three years prior and their only other chart-topping LP.
More, which was released last Friday, is the band's first studio album since 2001's We Love Life.

The album is also named the biggest record of the week on wax, topping the Official Vinyl Albums Chart.
The band are playing a number of gigs throughout the summer, including sets at Montreux Jazz Festival in July and Incheon Pentaport Rock Festival in August.
The veteran rockers have a gap in their schedule between June 21 and July 10, which has fuelled speculation that they could be among the secret acts currently listed as 'TBA' in the line-up for Glastonbury Festival, which is taking place later this month.
Elsewhere in the albums chart the eponymous debut album of US pop star and TikTok sensation Addison Rae has landed at number two.
The record contains the hit singles Diet Pepsi, Headphones On, and Fame Is A Gun, which have all made it into the top 40 of the singles chart.
Another new entry is Lotus by British rapper Little Simz, which has landed at number three, a personal best for the London-born music star whose Mercury Prize-winning album Sometimes I Might Be Introvert peaked at number four back in 2021.
Lotus also debuts at number one on the Official Record Store Chart, the most popular LP of the week in UK independent record shops.
Sabrina Carpenter performs during the Brit Awards 2025 (Lucy North/PA)
Rounding out the top five is Sabrina Carpenter's Short N' Sweet at number four and Ed Sheeran's Mathematics Tour Collection compilation album at five.
Over in the singles chart, US popstar Carpenter has knocked Alex Warren from the top spot with her new single Manchild.
The 26-year-old recently announced the release of a new studio album, Man's Best Friend, which will be released in August.
The Official Charts Company said Carpenter has banked the most consecutive weeks in the albums chart top five out of any other female solo artist.
The rest of the top five sees Warren at number two with Ordinary, Love Me Not by Ravyn Lenae at number three, Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club at number four, and Sombr's Undressed at number five.

Chappell Roan, Charli XCX: Primavera pros, cons, and lessons for Electric Picnic
Primavera Sound, an annual music festival held in Barcelona, took place from June 4th to June 8th this year with top-class headliners. Chappell Roan, Charli XCX, and Sabrina Carpenter took to the stage at Parc del Fòrum last week, with many Irish acts gracing stages across the venue too, CMAT and Fontaines D.C. being the most notable of these. Advertisement According to CatalanNews, a new record was set during the 2025 edition of Primavera Sound, as the festival welcomed around 293,000 people, most of them (65 per cent) coming from overseas. I was one of those people coming from overseas to witness the three queens of pop in their element. And they did not disappoint. Here is what Barcelona's Primavera Sound got right and wrong, and some advice Electric Picnic can take from the Spanish festival organisers. Headliners Primavera is laid out with one main headliner taking to the stage on each of the three main days of the festival. Advertisement This year, those headliners were international popstars, also known as the Powerpuff girls, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, and Sabrina Carpenter. I cannot think of one year of Electric Picnic that could compete with these headliners, even though the Stradbally festival has two headliners per day. The line-up announced for 2025 is undoubtedly an upgrade from the last two years, where most Electric Picnic goers favoured acts like The Wolfe Tones over the headliners. Last year, the headliners felt outdated. Noah Kahan and Gerry Cinnamon performed on Friday, Calvin Harris and Kodaline performed on Saturday, and Kylie Minogue and RAYE took to the stage to wrap up the festival on the final day. Advertisement I had not heard from Calvin Harris or Kodaline for years, so it was a surprise to see them headlining the festival. Maybe they could have headlined unquestioned eight years ago, but not in 2024, and many people shared that same sentiment. Outdated headliners is not something to worry about when it comes to Primavera, as the three most relevant popstars of the moment dominated the three-day festival. Sabrina Carpenter had just released her new single Manchild, which she performed live for the first time at the festival. Meanwhile, Charli XCX and Chappell Roan were both still riding high after an extremely successful 2024 for both of them. Advertisement Charli's Brat summer and Chappell's ever-growing Pink Pony FanClub ensured huge crowds for the stars. While Electric Picnic has received a lot of criticism over the last few years for its headliners, some credit must be given for this year's lineup. This year's headliners include: Friday: Hozier and Chappell Roan; Saturday: Sam Fender and Fatboy Slim; Sunday: Kings of Leon and Becky Hill. In terms of relevance, Friday is the strongest day for this year's lineup, but the timeless tunes from Fatboy Slim and Kings of Leon will prove a treat for festival goers of all ages. Advertisement The main note to Electric Picnic is to take a leaf out of Primavera's book when it comes to headliners. Unlike the Stradbally-based festival, Primavera has seldom let down fans when it has released its headliners. Other acts Surprisingly, Primavera's support for Irish acts was quite impressive, and they garnered huge crowds. The stage for CMAT was certainly not big enough for the crowd that she attracted. There were people watching from the top of the steps as there was no room in the crowd. Fontaines D.C. also attracted quite the crowd, and received cheers from the crowd for their display of solidarity with Palestine. There were many Irish people in Barcelona last week for the festival and a lot of these people went to support the Irish acts, myself included. To be fair to Electric Picnic, the festival has long championed Irish musicians. CMAT, Fontaines D.C., Kneecap, Amble, Kingfishr, and many more have already performed at the festival or will be performing this year. However, the Laois festival's problem lies with its headliners and the acts that are meant to be one step down from the headliners. Primavera's entire lineup was star-studded, while Electric Picnic's has a couple of names that each person will be happy with, and then a load of niche acts that many will only know one song from. Other acts who performed at Primavera, besides the headliners, included: Troye Sivan, FKA Twigs, Magdalena Bay, Beabadoobee, Beach House, Denzel Curry, Jamie XX, and Wet Leg. Electric Picnic does not rival this lineup for me, even with their improved headliners for this year. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Electric Picnic (@epfestival) Food, drink, other facilities This is the category where Primavera lost marks. If you think food and drink is expensive at concerts/festivals in Ireland, you should avoid hoping for cheaper at the Barcelona festival. Beer and wine was the way to go, as any spirit and mixed drink had you looking in your purse for €12/€14. As well as this, there were not enough bars for the amount of people there. This particularly became an issue when people would leave after headliners looking for drinks and water, only to wait in queues for up to half an hour. Electric Picnic is certainly no better when it comes to pricing, which is why many of those camping will bring their own food and drink to limit their spending when they pass the festival gates. Maybe this is just the way it's heading, and I should expect to need to take out a loan when I want to attend a music festical! When it comes to other facilities like toilets and taps, I'm afraid it was a similar story to the pubs and food places in Barcelona. There were not enough facilities for the crowd that was there. This is a complaint that has appeared throughout the years for Primavera, so I would imagine that this is not just my experience of the facilities there. Electric Picnic, on the other hand, has an ample supply of bars, food spots, and toilets for the amount of people that attend. In the campsites specifically, you are never too far away from toilets, phone charging stations, or first aid huts. Concluding thoughts It is a nice experience to travel abroad for a music festival, especially when the lineup is as good as Primavera's was. The weather was phenomenal and, unlike Electric Picnic, I did not have to worry about the rain. Although we cannot place the blame for that on the festival's organisers! Entertainment Pop star Robbie Williams named as new Fifa Music A... Read More We can, however, criticise the lineup. And if Electric Picnic's headliners were to go up against Primavera's, I have no doubt in my mind which set would come out on top. Unfortunately, it would not be a win for Co Laois. If I had to say which festival is better value for money taking the lineup, setting, facilities, and atmosphere into account, I would have to go with Primavera. The lineup wins the competition for the Barcelona festival in my opinion. However, Electric Picnic takes the crown in the facilities and atmosphere categories. Even though it loses out to Primavera in my view, Electric Picnic still has a special place in my heart, and those Stradbally fields will see me again this year.

Let women be horny – but Sabrina Carpenter's album cover isn't helping
Please join me for a quick game of 'is this sex-positive feminism or just a lazy repackaging of the patriarchy'? Today's protagonist is Sabrina Carpenter, a pop star whose music videos have got a Brooklyn priest demoted and might have played a small role in getting the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, indicted. On Wednesday, Carpenter revealed the cover art for her forthcoming album Man's Best Friend in a social media post, which featured two photos side by side. One was a closeup of what appears to be a fluffy dog with a collar bearing the words 'man's best friend'. The other is a photo of Carpenter on her hands and knees in front of a man who is pulling her by the hair. The imagery has caused controversy and drawn mixed reactions. On the one hand, you've got people who think Carpenter is being clever. On the other hand, you've got people who think she is being crass and catering to the male gaze in a way that is extremely unhelpful to women. In the latter camp is Glasgow Women's Aid, a Scottish group that helps victims of domestic violence. They have called the imagery 'regressive' and 'a throwback to tired tropes that reduce women to pets, props, and possessions and promote an element of violence and control'. Some people on social media vehemently disagree. 'i am a little concerned about peoples inability to immediately clock that the cover is obviously a commentary on the way women are treated, especially with the context of manchild [the lead single from the album] and the album being called man's best friend like guys omfg think,' someone in the 'Sabrina's doing satire!' camp posted. That got over 53,000 likes. (I, myself, am a little concerned about people's inability to use apostrophes.) Meanwhile, Diet Prada (an influential Instagram account with more than 3.4 million followers) posted a picture of the video with the line 'let women be h*rny on main' and a caption that essentially called Carpenter's critics stupid prudes. I'm all for letting 'women be h*rny on main' but I'm having a hard time seeing Carpenter's cover art as either satire or sex-positive feminism. Sure, some of the best satire is extremely subtle. But this isn't subtle or sex-positive – it's just soft porn pandering to the male gaze. At a different point in time I suppose you might be able to make the case that this sort of imagery was edgy and subversive. Madonna, for example, used her sexuality to challenge social norms. But at the current moment, when sexualized imagery is everywhere, women's rights are being aggressively rolled back in the US, and there is backlash to women's rights around the world, Carpenter's cover art isn't subverting anything. The hair-grabbing visual is in particularly poor taste considering recent court testimony that Sean 'Diddy' Combs grabbed his then girlfriend Cassie Ventura by the hair and dragged her into another room where he assaulted her. There is also very disturbing video surveillance of Combs assaulting Ventura. If Carpenter's fans can't see all the problems with this imagery, then it's because internalized misogyny is everywhere – and it's a real bitch. (Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution.) None of this, to be clear, is an attack on Carpenter. In my best middle-aged woman voice I'd like to say that I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed. I think Carpenter is very talented and particularly appreciate her track record on taking down awful men. Please, Sabrina, you've helped take down one mayor. Why not train your creative energy on trying to stop Andrew Cuomo, the disgraced former governor of New York, who has spent millions of dollars in taxpayer money on an aggressive legal battle against the women who have accused him of sexual harassment, from becoming mayor of New York? Forget man's best friend, pull that off and you'll be a lot of women's best friend. The activist, who was recently deported from Israel after taking part in an attempt to bring a symbolic aid shipment to starving Gaza, responded by saying the world needs more angry women. It certainly does. Olorato Mongale, 30, was allegedly murdered by a man she went on a date with – it's one of the more high-profile murders in a country with the highest rates of femicide in the world. 'Women die no matter what they do,' one activist told the Guardian. 'They've been stabbed while they sleep, shot in broad daylight and had their houses burned down by former partners.' According to CNN Brasil, the influencer Taís Bruna de Castro, 36, was murdered in the food court of a shopping complex where she worked; the suspect is a janitor who worked in the same complex. The janitor reportedly told investigators that he killed the influencer because she didn't want to pursue a relationship with him. Four women and three girls (two of whom were believed to be under five) recently died after a boat carrying migrants capsized just metres from a pier in the port of one of Spain's Canary Islands. An increasing number of women are now trying to migrate from west Africa. 'Women are becoming the main actors in their own migration process, whereas in the past it was usually the men who migrated first and the women joined later,' one expert told the Guardian. 'On her social media channels, she not only encourages people to degrade women and use violence against them, she also boasts that she uses the same methods on her child and her cat,' one commentator told DW. I guess Gyutsova has discovered that misogyny can be a lucrative grift. All the vol-gay-noe jokes you could want for Pride month. A little palate cleanser for everyone who feels like exploding with rage at the moment. Women's Health profiles Jan Todd, who broke the world record in the women's deadlift when she was 22 and went on to a career in academia. 'Her research discoveries are the reason we now know about the all-but-forgotten history of heavy resistance training among Victorian girls and women on both sides of the Atlantic,' the outlet notes. Turns out Victorian women were swole. This is the sort of thing that shouldn't be news story in 2025 but unfortunately is. Good on Labour MP Luke Charters, however, for being part of a small group of politicians agitating for better paternity leave for fathers and leading by example. 'As nine in 10 households [in Gaza] face extreme water shortages, the lack of clean water, soap, and privacy has turned menstruation into a source of anxiety, isolation, and shame,' UN agencies have said. If you're British and angry about this, there's a handy tool here to check if your MP supports war crimes against Palestinians. I ate at world's biggest all you can eat buffet – it cost £10 with NO time limit… but here's what it's REALLY like
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) A FOODIE who filled up her plate at the world's biggest buffet for just £10 has spilled the beans on her tasty experience. Serving up giant steaks, extra thick milkshakes and Amish pie, the huge restaurant serves up enough grub for 10,000 people every single day. Hungry Americans and fascinated tourists regularly flock to the 100,000 sq ft buffet to try and take on the world's biggest buffet. In recent years it has even become famous on social media through food bloggers and popular influencers. One of these is New York-based influencer Amorray Marcano who visited Shady Maple back in April. She told The Sun: "I'm a content creator so I like to show cool things in the New York area and around it and I had no clue that the largest buffet in America was so close to me. "So I wanted to go just because of its reputation of being the largest and serving up to 10,000 people in a day." Amorray, 29, filmed her trip and posted it online to her 440,000 Instagram followers. She said one of her biggest concerns going into the buffet was the quality of the food. Most people usually head down to a buffet as a novelty dining experience where they can fill their plates high and try out as much food as their stomachs can handle. But the food is typically seen as below par due to it usually being left out under a heat lamp for some time before being eaten. Hotel guest reveals unique buffet breakfast and people have been left stunned Shady Maple is far from an average all you can eat place though as it even boasts an impressive 4.6 star rating online. Amorray said she was "pleasantly surprised" by the taste of the food on offer. She admitted: "There were hits and misses, but there were certain things that were actually really good. "The night I went they were serving catfish. And I don't really eat catfish normally, but thought I'll try it and it was so good. "It was cooked really well and just delicious. "There were some things that I didn't love. I would say some things might've been a little dry or some things maybe needed a little bit more seasoning. "But the things that were good were great, like their beef brisket, the steak and of course the cajun catfish." The whole buffet is open Monday to Saturday and welcomes in hungry guests from 7am all the way through to 7:30pm. 9 The huge restaurant serves up enough grub for 10,000 people every single day Credit: Shady Maple 9 Shady Maple Smorgasbord has transformed East Earl, Pennsylvania into an unlikely tourist hotspot in recent years Credit: Shady Maple 9 Famous travel and food influencer Amorray Marcano has spilled the beans on the world's biggest buffet Credit: amorraytravels / Instagram During the day, they serve up a breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings. The breakfast costs just $13.99 (£10) during the week and lunch will set you back $19.99 (£15). The price for dinner varies depending on exactly what type of food you want to treat yourself to but a standard price is $26.99 (£20). This encompasses grill items, 46 salad bar items, three soups, six homemade breads & rolls, four cheeses, eight different meats, 14 vegetables, ten cold desserts, three hot desserts, eight pies, six cakes, sundae bar and countless drinks. Special options are also available throughout the week including steak night, seafood night, wings night or even the grand menu. There were hits and misses, but there were certain things that were actually really good Amorray Marcano Amorray was amazed by the cheap price of the unlimited food. She continued: "I would see people sit down, they would eat, and then they would go back for more and you could stay for as long as you want. "So realistically, you could stay there for hours so it's a great bang for your buck. "For the night that I went, it was like $27 and the amount of food you get for that is easily worth way more than the price." One thing that did leave a sour taste in Amorray's mouth was just how busy the buffet was. Amorray and her friend queued up for 30 minutes outside at around dinner time due to the long line of excited guests. The influencer was mainly shocked by this due to its little known location. Not only is East Earl a tight knit community in Amish country but it also has a population of under 2,000 people. You could stay there for hours so it's a great bang for your buck Amorray Marcano This means the town can sometimes be packed out with over five times the number of residents due to the popularity of the restaurant. "When I went in, I thought there's not going to be that much seating. But then once I walked in, there was loads in every, nook and cranny," Amorray added. "There must have been thousands of people in there and I was not expecting that just because we already had a 30 minute wait and there was a huge line behind us. "Honestly I was kind of overwhelmed when I went in because I was expecting the amount of food but not the amount of people." But after tucking into her first plate, Amorray said she fully understood why so many people flocked to the world famous Pennsylvania buffet. Amorray was also blown away by the number of drinks available. I tried one of the world's most expensive buffets – and made my money back in just one plate By The Sun's Assistant Travel Editor, Sophie Swietochowski AS the Sun travel desk's resident foodie, I could hardly resist trying the UK's fanciest buffet, also one of the world's most expensive. The Grove Hotel in Hertfordshire went viral earlier last year when TikTok foodies discovered its Glasshouse restaurant where everyone dines en masse, but in five-star luxury. Costing a whopping £82 per person at the weekend, there is certainly enough to choose from. After several, overly-generous spoonfuls of caviar, a few servings of beetroot-cured salmon and seven superbly crafted sushi rolls, decorated with dainty herbs, I felt I'd made a good dent in 'getting my money's worth' – a statement that had been thrown back and forth between my buffet partner, Mum, and I. I prowled the platters of sizzling Asian grub arranged temptingly in tandoor bowls and loaded into terracotta dishes, before heading straight for the crispy Thai fish cakes. The fish section was part of one of 10 dining areas at the buffet. This includes a carving station, AKA the place to pick up your classic roast dinner and trimmings with slices of rare roast beef, flakey wellington and crispy roast spuds all laid out with gravy. There was a sushi station with hand-made California rolls placed delicately alongside huge tubs of wasabi and seaweed salads. The robata grill is where everything from whole seabass to juicy steaks are scorched over an open flame and there's also fresh pasta and pizza stations. If all this isn't enough to wrap your head around, you can also order directly from the chefs, doting on each station, when there is something in particular that you fancy that isn't on display. So the real question is: would you pay that much cash for dinner? Much like the food on offer at the buffet, Shady Maple provided almost every kind of soft drink imaginable. The star of the drinks show was a huge soda fountain to the side of the room. This had all kinds of soda in it from cream soda, vanilla coke and even root beer as well as all the regular options. A coffee machine, hot chocolate station and milkshake stand meant everyone's taste was catered for. Alcohol was the only notable exception on the menu. And no tipping is expected at the restaurant. Amorarry recommended anyone in the area to head to Shady Maple if they get the chance. 9 The quality of food on offer has been widely praised by many visitors over the years Credit: Shady Maple
