Kate welcomes grieving parents of teen photographer Liz Hatton who died of cancer aged 17 at Buckingham Palace Garden Party
The Princess of Wales oozed glamour as she arrived at a garden party at Buckingham Palace this afternoon alongside Prince William.
Kate, 43, donned a yellow dress by Emilia Wickstead and a hat by Phillip Treacy as she stood on the terrace for the National Anthem in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, looking elegant as ever.
It marks her first appearance at a garden party since 2023 - having skipped last year while she was having cancer treatment.
The couple have invited two other young members of the Royal Family to join them - cousins Princess Eugenie and Zara Tindall.
Other royals in attendance are the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, wearing a dress by Beulah and hat by Jane Taylor, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.
Although the King wasn't present, the party in the palace grounds is still known as The King's Garden Party and held on his behalf.
This year, as the Prince and Princess of Wales host special guests from around the nation, they are welcoming some very special guests to the grounds of Buckingham Palace - the family of Liz Hatton.
Cancer campaigner and photography prodigy Liz, from Harrogate, passed away at the age of 17 in November 2024 from a rare and largely untreatable cancer, Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour.
She was diagnosed with the aggressive disease just 10 months before she passed away - but certainly made her mark on the nation before her death.
The teen was determined to pack as much as she could in to her remaining time and devised a 'bucket list' of assignments to capture with the help of her family - mother Vicky Robayna, father Aaron and brother Mateo.
After the Prince of Wales got to hear about it, he invited Liz into Windsor Castle in October to photograph an investiture he was holding.
Much to the family's surprise he then invited them for tea afterwards, with wife Kate - who has undergone her own cancer battle this year - joining them.
A photograph of her hugging Liz went viral and offers from organisations to help her fulfil the remaining items on her list - as well as dozens of others - flooded in, including an assignment at the Daily Mail.

It was a family affair as they were joined by royals including Zara Tindall for the event
Like the prince and princess, the public were deeply moved by Liz's strength, maturity and determination to face her tragically inevitable death head on.
She had hoped to make Christmas, and the family had even tried to bring forward their own celebrations early so that she could spent it with her adored younger brother, Mateo.
Sadly she passed away quietly in the early hours of November 27 before that could happen.
Liz made the incredibly mature decision to donate her body to medical science after her death in the hope that studies of her condition might help prevent another family from being separated in the way they have. Within days of her death, her body was transported to Glasgow University for medical students to study.
Since Liz passed away, grieving mother Vicky has repeatedly praised the Prince and Princess of Wales for their support as the family navigate their grief.
Speaking at a memorial in December for her daughter, Vicky told the Mail the couple had been 'so kind, so caring' and she couldn't thank them, or their team, enough.
Surrounded by her talented daughter's photographs that first brought her to William and Kate's attention, she said: 'They are so incredibly kind. They have been in touch throughout. It's been a difficult time but we have had messages from them. They and their team are often checking in. They have looked after us incredibly.'
The family were also guests of honour at the Princess's Together at Christmas Carol Service held at Westminster Abbey.
Speaking about their invitation, Vicky said: 'We didn't know if we would feel up to going, but I am so glad we did. It was so beautiful. They really looked after us.
'I knew it would be one of those things we would regret if we hadn't gone. It was tough as Liz had been determined to go to it and we now have so many memories associated with London. But I think we knew how cross she would be with us if we didn't go. The prince and princess made it a lot easier.'
Typically, the royal family hosts four garden parties every summer; three at Buckingham Palace and one at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland.
They stem from a tradition of introducing debutantes into society - but evolved into a way of rewarding and recognising outstanding public service.
Among the figures invited to garden parties are nominated by state and local government departments, religious figures and official societies.
Each garden party - and there are normally around three or four held each year - see up to 8,000 specially-invited guests including community stalwarts, charity campaigners and military heroes invited to take tea and enjoy the palace gardens.
While the bands continue to play a selection of music, members of the Royal Family circulate among the guests through 'lanes'.
Each takes a different route and random presentations are made so that everyone has an equal chance of speaking to a royal before they they arrive at the Royal Tea Tent, where they meet further guests.
They are then are then free to eat, drink and stroll around the beautiful Palace gardens.
Other notable guests include Steven Frank, a Holocaust survivor who The Princess photographed in 2020 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust.
Their Royal Highnesses will also meet guests from a number of both their patronages, military affiliations and passion projects including; Homewards, Action for Children, Ty Hafan, and tenants across Duchy of Cornwall sites.

The devastating mystery gripping the heir of Blenheim Palace and his desperate family - and the film star battling abuse trauma: RICHARD EDEN'S DIARY
Mystery at Blenheim Palace: Heir's dog vanishes He's blessed with a glamorous wife, two wonderful young daughters – and will, one day, inherit Blenheim Palace, arguably the most sumptuous family seat in Britain, plus its 12,000-acre estate. But never assume that the Marquess of Blandford, the 12th Duke of Marlborough's son and heir, is immune to the trials and tribulations that can afflict us all. George Spencer-Churchill's young labrador, Gecko, went missing at the weekend. Perhaps even more disquietingly, she remains unaccounted for, even though there was a tracker in her distinctive pink collar. This allowed Gecko's movements to be traced to the northernmost part of Woodstock, the Oxfordshire town near Blenheim. That was shortly before 2pm on Sunday. But thereafter the trail ran cold – prompting George, 32, and his wife Camilla, 38, both pictured, to seek assistance from the police, who have issued a public appeal in a bid to find Gecko. There is another element which adds to their heartache. I understand that, at the time Gecko disappeared, she was in the care of a trusted third party. Friends and family have been putting up posters alerting locals. 'If someone has stolen her, then people will have read about her,' one tells me. George certainly won't be daunted by the challenge. In 2019, he and two of his wife's cousins rowed across the Atlantic in 35 days, securing themselves a Guinness World Record for the 'fastest time for a related team of four to row the Atlantic east to west'. I profoundly hope that the Spencer-Churchill motto – 'faithful but unfortunate' – does not hold true for Gecko. SIR Stephen Fry has a surprising new passion. The Cambridge-educated polymath, 67, and former Marylebone Cricket Club president has become obsessed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). 'I am now a fan of WWE and I bought a couple of tickets for Wrestlemania in Las Vegas,' reveals Fry, a friend of King Charles. 'I said that to some people and they've said, 'Doesn't he know it's fake?' and I go, 'Oh, for heaven's sake!' It isn't fake in the sense that they are banging on and doing things to their bodies which are astonishing for entertainment. They are bloody talented.' Konnichiwa! Lily takes Tokyo trip A previous trip to Japan didn't run smoothly for Lily James after she was wrongly accused of mocking the local accent. Happily, this hasn't deterred the former Downton Abbey star from embracing the country's culture. The Surrey-born actress, 36, took part in a Japanese tea ceremony in the capital, which involves preparing, serving and drinking tea to promote wellbeing, mindfulness and harmony. She wore a traditional kimono with a floral print. 'I love Tokyo,' she said next to photographs shared online. One onlooker reports that Lord Cameron, who has yet to make a speech in the house this year, is now sporting an increasingly obvious bald patch. Don't expect to catch a glimpse of Michel Roux Jr at your local drive-through. 'I don't do takeaways,' the chef tells me. 'My last McDonald's was in October 1989 and my first and last KFC in 1976.' Film helped Jaime deal with trauma Jaime Winstone has revealed that starring in a film about childhood trauma has dredged up memories of abuse she suffered in the past. The daughter of Hollywood hardman Ray Winstone, 68, appears in the psychological horror Everyone Is Going To Die. 'The film gave me the opportunity to creatively purge from a trauma,' says the actress, 40, who played the young Peggy Mitchell in TV soap EastEnders and Dame Barbara Windsor in biopic Babs. 'I was triggered from a trauma. There was a lot of stuff happening to do with a certain person that I have dealt with, with abuse.' Fans can't tell who's Hugh Griff Rhys Jones has a problem. The television personality can't go anywhere without being mistaken for Hugh Grant – who is seven years his junior. 'I've just come back from the States,' Griff, 71, says. 'Nearly every day somebody would come, because there was a camera around, and ask for an autograph, assuming I was Hugh.' Griff says of the Four Weddings And A Funeral star: 'I haven't told him directly. I've only met him once in the last five years, and he very sweetly said, 'And what do you do these days?' 'I said, 'Well, I'm still in television, Hugh, what about you?' ' Touche. Love Island star's secret connection to previous finalist is revealed ahead of their arrival in the villa
Love Island has confirmed the full line-up of contestants set to enter the villa for the 12th series on June 9, for another season of love triangles, bedroom trysts and messy breakups. After joining the popular dating series in January 2023, Maya Jama will once again be at the helm, as the ITV2 show celebrates a decade on screens and promises to have 'more twists and turns than ever before' in honour of the anniversary. This year's crop of hopefuls include a Declan Rice body double, a firebreather and a Maura Higgins lookalike. But one of the new Islanders may have an edge on his fellow castmates, as he boasts a connection to a previous finalist. According to The Sun, Dejon Noel-Williams is pals with 2023 star Tyrique Hyde, who made it all the way to the final with then-girlfriend Ella Thomas. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Dejon, who plays football semi-professionally alongside his job as a personal trainer, is also the son of former Premier League striker Gifton. Ex-Watford and Stoke striker Gifton, 45, began his professional football career in 1996 and last played for Codicote in 2017 before retiring. And during his time at Watford from 1996 to 2003, he was teammates with none other than Micah Hyde, who is the father of Tyrique. The two stars played together at the club and looked to have been good friends, with their sons Dejon and Tyrique being the same age. The two boys also both followed in their fathers' footsteps by becoming footballers themselves. And in his role as a personal trainer, Dejon also counts Tyrique as one of his clients, with the duo often sharing videos of them working out at the gym together. Ahead of his villa entrance, Dejon revealed that he 'met all kinds of famous people' because of his footballing father and even remarked on a meeting with David Beckham. He said: 'When I was younger it was weird because he was just my dad, but we'd go to a game and fans were asking for photos. I've met David Beckham, he was really nice.' Dejon, from London, boasts 11,000 followers on social media thanks in part to his regular shirtless gym snaps and in 2021, represented the Grenada national football team. His bio reads: 'I go beyond the gym -helping you build Strength, Confidence & Discipline for life.' Asked what he was looking for in a girl in the villa, he said he wanted someone who 'is beautiful on the inside and out, looks after themselves and is healthy'. Tyrique shot to fame on the 2023 series with his romance with Ella being heavily tested with some dramatic ups and downs. They exited the villa together, but shortly after announced they'd split in November 2023, before trying to give it another go. But, in February 2024, MailOnline exclusively revealed Ella and Tyrique had parted ways permanently - after six months as a couple. A source told MailOnline: 'Ella and Tyrique have decided it's time to go their separate ways. 'They have such love for each other, but they often struggle to get along and as viewers saw in the villa, they're always arguing.' Tyrique and Ella exited the villa together, but shortly after announced they'd split in November 2023, before trying to give it another go, before parting ways permanently in February last year (pictured in September 2023) Meanwhile, Dejon is not the only footballing connection in the upcoming series, as fans of the lower leagues may have spotted a star dubbed 'The Surrey Zidane'. Rylan Clark admits he felt like a 'complete failure' after his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal
has emotionally admitted he felt like a 'failure' following his divorce from ex-husband Dan Neal. The TV presenter, 36, split with Dan in 2021 after six years of marriage when Rylan admitted he cheated on him. On what would have been their ten-year wedding anniversary this year, Rylan got candid about how he felt following the divorce. Speaking on his new podcast Rylan: How to Be in Love with Stephen Fry, he said: 'We got married in 2015. 'That same year, yeah. So it would have been my 10 year anniversary this year.' From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Stephen then asked if Rylan felt any kind of responsibility to represent gay marriage, as one of the few LGBTQ + celebrities. He asked: 'But did you feel also that - when it broke up and you were divorced – did you feel that there was in some sense you were letting down the idea of gay marriage, because we have a duty to show that our marriages are as robust and strong as any heterosexual?' Rylan said: 'There was part of me that just felt like a complete and utter failure. I felt like I'd failed personally, but I felt like I'd found publicly on behalf of - the gays! You know, I'm not, I'm not 'head gay', it's not that.' Stephen reassured: 'No, you're not, exactly. You're not a poster child for gayness.' Rylan continued: 'But you do feel like, yeah I'm going to get married, I want to get married, I can get married. 'But when it doesn't work out you don't want people to go, "you see that's why they f****** shouldn't get married".' Stephen was quick to insist: 'You can get married again if you want…', causing Rylan to hint at his divorce struggles as he quipped: 'Yeah with a prenup this time, I'm not going through that again.' Rylan previously revealed his own infidelity during his marriage with Dan caused the downfall of their relationship. After he revealed that he had been unfaithful, Dan eventually ended the relationship after the heart-wrenching confession. Following the heartbreak and the deterioration of his marriage, Rylan had suicidal thoughts and his weight dropped to just nine stone. He opened up about these challenging times in his second autobiography, TEN: The Decade That Changed My Future. In the book, he penned a candid reflection and said: 'I got in a relationship quite young and just went with it. Now I know I'm my own person. I'm not going to settle for something that's not right. In a way it's been a bit of a gift.' 'I'm happy to have sex with someone and that's that, that's not a problem. But do I want more? Of course I want more. Am I going to enjoy myself on the way? Abso-f***ing-lutely.'
