CZC meet in Varanasi: Digital infra, cyber crime likely to be discussed at gathering
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday inspected the venue of the 25th Central Zonal Council meeting, scheduled for June 24 at a city hotel in Varanasi. Uttar Pradesh is the host of 25th CZC meeting.
Union home minister Amit Shah will chair the meeting whereas the chief ministers of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand and UP will be in attendance at the high-level council session.
CM Yogi reviewed arrangements at the site, received information in detail about the arrangements from divisional commissioner S Rajalingam, and directed officials to ensure that all arrangements for the meetings remain in place.
Progress in the government's aim to ensure availability of banks or postal banking facilities within a three-kilometer radius of villages across the country will be reviewed during the meeting, sources said.
Digital infrastructure and cyber crime are most likely among the topics to be discussed during the CZC. The issues of digital awareness among farmers is also likely to be discussed in the meeting.
During the inspection, the CM was accompanied by Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh, labour and employment minister Anil Rajbhar, ministers of state (independent charge) Ravindra Jaiswal and Dayashankar Mishra 'Dayalu', district panchayat president Poonam Maurya, MLAs Saurabh Srivastava, MLC Hansraj Vishwakarma, police commissioner Mohit Agarwal, and district magistrate Satyendra Kumar.
The 24th CZC meeting was held in Narendra Nagar in Uttarakhand.

Naidu urges Amit Shah to rollback move on crude palm oil
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in a letter urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to reconsider Centre's decision to reduce import duty on crude palm oil. A delegation led by Telugu Desam Party Lok Sabha floor leader Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayulu along with other TDP MPs and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu called on Union Home Minister in New Delhi on Tuesday (June 17). The delegation submitted Mr. Naidu's letter urging the Centre to reconsider it decision to reduce import duty on Crude Palm Oil (CPO) by 10%, as per Gazette notification released on May 30. In his letter, Mr. Naidu highlighted that the timing of the duty reduction — announced during the peak plantation season — could seriously disrupt the success of the National Mission on Edible Oils – Oil Palm (NMEO-OP) and hurt farmer income. 'The reduction in import duty will lead to an immediate drop in the price realisation for existing Oil Palm growers, thereby eroding their confidence and potentially dissuading prospective farmers from adopting this high-potential crop,' the CM said. 'This decision, while perhaps intended to address short-term concerns, stands to seriously undermine the long-term vision and efforts being made by both the Government of India and the States, including Andhra Pradesh, to promote oil palm cultivation under the NMEO-OP,' he said. Andhra Pradesh accounts for over 50% of the total oil palm cultivation area in India, with 1.74 lakh farmers cultivating across 2.49 lakh hectares. The State has already achieved 67,727 hectares of oil palm coverage from 2021–2025, and targets an additional 50,000 hectares this year under the NMEO-OP, the letter mentioned. The Chief Minister further said, 'Andhra Pradesh has taken proactive steps to promote Oil Palm expansion, including provision of incentives as per NMEO-OP, infrastructure development and farmers' outreach through awareness programmes and deep technologies with AI tools. However, such policy decisions at the national level risk undoing the momentum that has collectively built.' Meanwhile, Mr. Devarayulu reinforced the need for policy revision and support to farmers. 'Given the vital role these groups play in implementing NMEO-OP, I urge the Ministry of Cooperation to take cognizance of the issue and work with stakeholders to ensure price support and stability,' he urged Mr. Shah.

UP CM reviews preps for central zonal council meet; inspects venue
Varanasi: Prior to leaving the city on Tuesday morning, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected lawn and hall of the hotel where meeting of the Central Zonal Council will take place on Jun 24. Union home minister Amit Shah and chief ministers of three zonal states will take part in the proposed meeting. Yogi reached the hotel compound with a large group of officials in the morning and reviewed preparations. He sought details from divisional commissioner S Rajalingam about necessary arrangements being made at the site to host the proposed meeting and directed officials to ensure seamless execution. While Shah will chair the proposed meeting, the CM will serve as regional vice-president. Chief ministers of Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, Pushkar Singh Dhami, Mohan Yadav and Vishnu Deo Sai, respectively, will take part with their large delegations of officials. During his Monday evening meeting with officials, Yogi directed all preparations for CZC meeting be completed timely. Arrangements in full swing for International Yoga Day event in Visakhapatnam
Preparations are in full swing for the grand celebration of International Yoga Day scheduled for June 21. The entire Beach Road stretch from R.K. Beach to Bheemunipatnam is being extensively decorated, as the event is expected to draw nearly five lakh participants performing 'yogasanas' . The stretch from Kali Matha Temple to The Park Hotel, which is considered as the major venue, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with Union Ministers, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan, and other dignitaries will participate, is receiving special attention. Barricades have been installed along the footpaths for crowd control and safety. As per the authorities, to accommodate the massive turnout, as many as 326 compartments are being set up along the stretch, each designed to hold between 1,000 and 1,300 participants. Mats are being laid, and each compartment will be equipped with a stage for yoga instructors and LED screens for better visibility and coordination. The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) authorities are giving final touches to the greenery, landscaping and paint works. Home Minister V. Anitha conducted a review meeting with MP M. Sribharat and other elected representatives. She said that the entire Beach Road stretch will be brought under surveillance of 2,000 CCTV cameras. She said that the city police is working in close coordination with the Prime Minister's security team to ensure there are no security issues. 50 snake catchers Ms Anitha also said that keeping in view of the proximity to forest areas along the Beach Road stretch, spraying operations are being conducted to prevent snake intrusion. Additionally, around 50 snake catchers are going to be stationed at the site. At Jodugullapalem hillock, barricades were placed to prevent boulders from rolling onto the venue. She also said that healthcare and sanitation have been given top priority. 'A medical camp will be set up for every 1 km, supported by 200 ambulances. Additionally, three 10-bed hospitals will be operational at three separate places along the stretch. Following directions from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in view of participation of a large number of women, each compartment will have 10 bio-toilets,' she said. The Home Minister also said that tribal students from ASR district, who previously created a record by performing 108 Surya Namaskars, will perform yogasanas at the Andhra University Engineering College grounds. She said that the previous world record for yoga participation stood at 1.5 lakh people at Surat in an event not attended by the Prime Minister. However, this event, with the Prime Minister in attendance, aims to set a new benchmark with a target of five lakh participants, she added. Speaking about the parking places, the Home Minister said that as many as 75 designated parking spaces have been arranged. She also said that they have chalked out traffic plans in such a way that traffic flow will normalise within 30 minutes after the event concludes.
