Rams Head Coach Addresses Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams' Pairing

Rams Head Coach Addresses Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams' Pairing originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay had strong words when asked about the pairing of former New York Jets wideout Davante Adam and his Super Bowl-winning quarterback, Matthew Stafford. Advertisement The 37-year-old quarterback appeared in 16 games for the Rams during the 2024 season, throwing for 3,762 yards, 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions while leading Los Angeles into the postseason. The former Georgia Bulldog is entering his fifth season under head coach Sean McVay and 16th of his NFL career since being selected No. 1 overall in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. NFL veteran Davante Adams, 32, signed with the Rams in the offseason after he was released by the Jets. Adams finished last season with 85 receptions for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns despite playing with multiple starting quarterbacks. He has recorded 1,000-plus receiving yards six times throughout his NFL career and has totaled 103 touchdowns. McVay's respect for Adams was evident from the start, as he highlighted the All-Pro receiver's film in a team meeting shortly after his arrival. Advertisement 'What I think is really cool to be able to witness is the respect that you can feel they have for one another,' McVay told reporters. "... Matthew's got such a great way of being able to connect and communicate. And it's the same thing with Davante. "Those guys have such a high level of understanding of what they want. ... It's been cool to watch." With both players entering the latter stages of their careers, McVay's focus remains on maximizing what they can do together — and looking to build on last year's playoff success. Saquon Barkley Dismisses Retirement Following Viral Remark

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Earlier this month, Philadelphia Eagles star Saquon Barkley had the NFL world buzzing following comments about retiring. Ahead of the 2025 campaign, the superstar running back provided some assurances that he has a lot left in the tank. It's well documented that Hall of Fame running back Barry Sanders is someone Barkley has long admired. While speaking with Chris Long on his Green Light podcast, he even hinted at ending his career abruptly similar to his idol. "I'll probably be one of those guys that it'll be out of nowhere. I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah it's over,'" Barkley said. On Tuesday, the Eagles began their mandatory minicamp like numerous teams across the league. Following the first day's action, Barkley answered an array of questions from the media. As expected, his recent remarks about retirement came up. When asked about what he said on Long's podcast, the Eagles back let the world know that he is career isn't coming to a close anytime soon. "I don't plan on retiring anytime soon," Barkley told reporters Tuesday. Saquon Barkley: 'I don't plan on retiring anytime soon.' — Zach Berman (@ZBerm) June 10, 2025 This remark is music to the Eagles and their fans' ears, as Barkley has become a foundational piece of the franchise. Last season, he departed from the New York Giants to find a new home in the NFC East. Barkley's presence drastically raised the Eagles' ceiling, and was a major factor in them capturing the second Super Bowl in franchise history. He had a historic start to his Eagles tenure, rushing for over 2,000 yards in the regular season. Barkley then followed that up by leading the postseason in both rushing yards (499) and touchdowns (5). With the Eagles retaining most of their core, they are primed to be back in the title conversation in 2025. If they're going to repeat as champions, they can't have key contributors like Barkley already thinking about life after football. Luckily for them, he put to bed any notion of his retirement being on the horizon. If Barkley does plan on having a similar career arc as Sanders, he still has three years to go before the thought of retirement becomes real. In the meantime, he'll be looking to build off his career year in 2024 as he attempts to help Philly secure another championship.

Josh Allen Announces Decision on 2028 Olympics

Josh Allen Announces Decision on 2028 Olympics originally appeared on Athlon Sports. After falling just short of reaching the Super Bowl once again, Josh Allen is now preparing for his eighth season in the NFL with the Buffalo Bills. Advertisement Allen is coming off one of the best seasons of his career, winning his first NFL MVP award. He completed 307-of-483 passes for 3,731 yards, 28 touchdowns and six interceptions, along with 531 yards and another 12 scores on the ground. But Allen may be eyeing football opportunities beyond the NFL. In May, league owners passed a resolution allowing players to participate in flag football at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Flag football will be introduced as a new game to the Olympics in 2028. The NFL will only allow one player per team to participate, and "each club's designated international player is also permitted to take part for his country." Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh MacIntyre-Yee/Democrat and Chronicle / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images On Tuesday, Allen participated in the Bills' first day of mandatory minicamp, speaking to the media afterward. When asked if he would consider playing flag football in the 2028 Olympics, Allen revealed his answer. Advertisement "I'm not going to disrespect the guys that are playing flag football right now," Allen said. "If there was an opportunity for me to try, I would absolutely love to. I've always wanted to compete for my country. Every time the Olympics are on, I'm tuned into the screen. But I think there's no greater to do that. It would be really cool. But I guess we'll find out." While Allen may be excited about the chance to represent his country in 2028, the current U.S. flag football starting quarterback, Darrell Doucette, is opposed to the idea of NFL players in the Olympics. "The flag guys deserve their opportunity," Doucette said. "That's all we want. We felt like we worked hard to get the sport to where it's at, and then when the NFL guys spoke about it, it was like we were getting kicked to the side."
