US says killed military leader of Syria Al-Qaeda affiliate
WASHINGTON: The US Army said Saturday it had killed a top military leader of Hurras Al-Din, a Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda which announced its dissolution in January.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM), in charge of American forces in the Middle East, said in a statement that its forces on February 23 'conducted a precision airstrike in Northwest Syria, targeting and killing Muhammed Yusuf Ziya Talay, the senior military leader of the terrorist organization Hurras Al-Din.'
Since Hurras Al-Din announced in late January that it was dissolving itself, US air strikes have killed several of the group's leaders, according to CENTCOM.
On February 22, it said a 'precision air strike' had killed Wasim Tahsin Bayraqdar, a leader of the group which the US classifies as a terrorist organization.
American forces are in Syria as part of an international coalition created in 2014 to fight the terrorists of the Daesh group.
After a rebel alliance led by radical Islamist group Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham toppled President Bashar Assad and took power in Damascus on December 8, Hurras Al-Din said it no longer needed to exist.
The group, including foreign jihadists, was based in mountainous northwestern Syria.

Al-Qaeda linked group says it carried out huge attack on Mali's army
BAMAKO — An al-Qaeda-linked group says it carried out a major attack on the Malian town of Boulikessi and the seizure of an army base there. More than 30 soldiers were killed in Sunday's attack, according to sources quoted by the news agency Reuters, however that figure has not been confirmed by the authorities. On Monday the same group, Jama'a Nusrat ul-Islam wa al-Muslimin (JNIM), said it targeted the military in the historic city of Timbuktu, with residents reporting hearing gunfire and explosions. Mali's army said in a statement late on Monday that it had repelled an "infiltration attempt by terrorist fighters" in Timbuktu, "neutralizing" 14 militants and arresting 31 suspects. It added that weapons, vehicles and other items were seized, but did not name the group responsible for the attack. The army said search operations across Timbuktu were ongoing. In an earlier statement, the army said it "reacted vigorously" to Sunday's attack, before "withdrawing" — suggesting a tactical retreat."Many men fought, some until their last breath, to defend the Malian nation," the statement unnamed local source told Reuters that JNIM had left many casualties and "cleared the camp".Unverified video footage showed dozens of militants storming the base, including one which captured them stepping on bodies, according to Monday's attack, JNIM said its fighters had attacked a military airport and Russian and security sources told the AFP news agency they were "fighting back", but that the militants were "everywhere in the city".A local official said the attackers had arrived "with a vehicle packed with explosives" that detonated close to the army a UN World Heritage Site, was captured by Islamist militants in 2012 before they were driven out, but has once more been under siege in recent attacks, the latest sign of collapsing security in Mali and the wider Sahel region, came after the United States Africa Command warned about growing efforts by various different Islamist militant groups which operate in the Sahel to gain access to West Africa's a press conference on Friday, the commander of United States Africa Command (Africom), Gen Michael Langley, described recent attacks in Nigeria, the wider Sahel, and the Lake Chad Basin as deeply troubling, warning that the groups' access to the coast would significantly boost their capacity for smuggling and arms is thought that more than 400 soldiers have been killed by militants since the beginning of last month in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, Reuters reports. — BBC

The Zionist Project Will Fail: American Activist
An American political activist predicted that the Zionist project and the State of Israel will fail, as more people are waking up to the truth about Israel's crimes against the Palestinians. In a viral video on social media platforms, the American activist, known by the name 'Honest Appraisal1,' stated several reasons that will erode the Israeli state and weaken the Western support for its regime. Demographic Changes The activist pointed to many reasons for the potential failure of the Zionist project and the Israeli State. The first is that 'the economically viable population is reducing,' and 'there is a serious shift in the demographics' in Israel. 'In 2022, there was a significant increase in net migration, 75,000 people, massive rise over 2021.' But in 2024, 'net negative migration with 18,200 leaving overall,' he said. Qualified People Leaving The American activist said that there is a lot of dual citizens – Europeans, Canadians, Americans – who have moved to Israel, because changes in the birth right laws and other aspects had lots of people coming in and rapidly becoming Israeli citizens. 'Now the people are going out, people who can. And that's either because they can return to their countries of origin or they can immigrate to other countries because they qualify for immigration. 'And those tend to be the highly qualified people, so there is undoubtedly a massive brain drain out of Israel, including many economically active people or entrepreneurs,' he noted. He also said that many of them leave out of fear, and in some cases due to opposition to what Netanyahu, Likud and the Israeli military are doing in Palestine. Psychopaths Staying The activist said that those who stay are 'the people who can't leave or are ideologically committed to the Zionist project and Israel.' He described them as a 'punch of psychopaths' because of what they are doing. He pointed to the fact that Israel does not have extradition treaties with any other country, including its greatest ally the US. Therefore, the country has become 'a festering cauldron for Jewish pedophiles, rapists, conmen, murderers fleeing their countries of origin to a safe harbor of Israel,' he said. 'So, the population is degrading literally on a daily basis, both in terms of economic viability but also in terms of psychopathy. This must lead to the erosion of what they currently call their civilization, their culture,' he noted. On top of that comes 'the murderers of the Israeli military reservists and soldiers returning from the genocide of the Palestinians, having seen dead friends and relatives killed by the superior military forces of Hezbollah and Hamas, on top of the PTSG for the horrendous actions they have taken in service of Israel. The injured and disabled and the traumatized who will be a cost to the nation not a benefit to it,' he added. Economic Activity The war in Gaza has caused economic recession in Israel. 'Tourism is dead,' the activist said, because 'Israelis hate Christians, spit on them, and deride them when they visit the scared places in Bethlehem and Jerusalem and other cities. No one will go there also out of fear of liberation organizations rockets or another October 7.' Moreover, he pointed out that trade is ruined partly for moral reasons but also 'because of the obvious fact that the Lebanese pager attack opened the world's eyes to the fact that if you buy any kind of hardware from Israel, or Israel is part of the supply chain, you are taking the risk of acquiring an explosive that someone in Tel Aviv can detonate it.' He also warned that Israel might misuse the data of its allies as part of its efforts to 'control the narrative around the current ethnic cleansing in Palestine and the creation of the Greater Israel. That side of their service industry is definitely dying, because the Global South has long ago abandoned this stuff.' Western Support The American activist noted that 'Israel in itself as a single entity is dying under the Zionists, but it is kept alive by the US and Western EU countries. But that is going to change because even the most MAGA people in the world are waking up to the fact that right now the US is not America First, but Israel First; that the promised action of Trump administration about Epstein, lower taxes, freedom of speech are all wasted at the behest of Israel, and subverted into the arrest, mistreatment and disappearance of opposition speakers and writers.' He added: 'And most importantly, the US economy is entirely directed toward Israel and war – which is what Donald Trump said he was against,' meaning the war. 'In Europe, hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people wake up to the fact that their thoughts about and attitude towards Israel is wrong. And eventually, that has to lead to a change in policy and withdrawal of support for the ethnic cleansing and genocidal regime in Tel Aviv,' he said. In addition to that, 'the world's other two superpowers, Russia and China – particularly China – are supporting Palestinian liberation and watching their adversary the US wasting its money on Israel and laughing as the US deliberately weakens itself on a daily basis in support of the genocidal regime in Tel Aviv,' he noted. 'These are the reasons why Zionism is ultimately going to fail,' the American activist concluded. Short link : Post Views: 103

Syrian Government, Kurds Exchange Prisoners in Aleppo
Syrian government exchanged over 400 prisoners on Monday with the Kurdish-led authority as part of their deal signed at the beginning of this year, according to Associated Press. The exchange represents a significant move toward building trust between the Syrian government in Damascus and the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces in northern Aleppo. Mulham Al-Akidi, the Deputy Governor of Aleppo province, said that 470 prisoners were released by both sides. Al-Akidi noted that the exchange seeks to 'reduce tensions on the ground.' In March, Syria's President Ahmad Al-Sharaa and SDF Chief Mazloum Abdi signed an agreement to integrate the civil and military institutions of Kurds into the Syrian government. This remarkable step represents a significant gain for the new government that seeks to unify the country. Consequently, the clashes between both sides almost ended in northern Syria after months of fighting. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani has recently urged Kurdish-led forces to swiftly integrate into the Syrian state warning that postponing this step would 'prolong the chaos' in the country. The minister's remarks came as the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, announced that it was disbanding, a move described by Al-Shaibani as 'a pivotal moment' for regional stability. He also added that Syria is currently incorporating all areas under central state control and 'implementing the national accord with the Syrian Democratic Forces.'
