Authorities retrieved personal items from the home including a monthly planner and two cellphones that will be analyzed. Medical investigators have been working to establish the cause of their deaths, but toxicology reports often take weeks to complete.
When they were found, the bodies were decomposing with some mummification, a consequence of body type and climate in Santa Fe's especially dry air at an elevation of nearly 7,200 feet (2,200 meters).
Hackman, a Hollywood icon, won two Oscars during a storied career in films including 'The French Connection,' 'Hoosiers' and 'Superman' from the 1960s until his retirement in the early 2000s.
Arakawa, born in Hawaii, studied as a concert pianist, attended the University of Southern California and met Hackman in the mid-1980s while working at a California gym.
The couple's stucco, Pueblo-revival style home sits on a hill in a gated community at the southern tip of the Rocky Mountains. Santa Fe is known as a refuge for celebrities, artists and authors.
Hackman dedicated much of his time in retirement to painting and writing novels far from Hollywood's social circuit. He served for several years on the board of trustees at the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, and he and his wife were investors in local businesses.

New ‘Wonder Woman' Movie 'Being Written Right Now' Says DC Co-Boss James Gunn

Wonder Woman under James Gunn and Peter Safran's DC Studios hasn't hung up her lasso. 'We're working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman's being written right now,' Gunn told EW today. More from Deadline Kevin Smith Praises 'Superman' Trailer's "Really F-ing Smart" Take On U.S. Political Climate: "People Wanna Hope Right Now" James Gunn Confirms 'Superman' Runtime & Clears Up Rumor Warner Bros. Forced Him To Cut It Down 'Sgt. Rock' Halts Pre-Production, Now Eyeing Summer 2026 Production Start DC didn't comment on who exactly is writing the new Wonder Woman. Gunn hasn't yet cast the role of who'll play Princess Diana of Themyscira. That's a big deal. When Gunn and Safran took over the reigns of DC back in late 2022, they essentially began unplugging from the Zack Snyder created DC universe. One of those projects not to move forward was Patty Jenkins' third Wonder Woman movie which wasn't up to snuff. In addition Gunn said today, that the new 'Wonder Woman's a separate thing' to the already announced Paradise Lost HBO/Max series, which is 'slow moving, but it's moving,' per the Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy franchise filmmaker. Gunn also confirmed what was blurted out by Warner Bros Discovery CEO David Zaslav during last month's earnings call; that Superman, Batman, Supergirl and Wonder Woman were lynchpins to Gunn and Safran's DC. 'I think that's accurate, actually,' Gunn told EW. 'I think that he got that from something I said. I wouldn't say only those four characters, but I would say that those four characters are incredibly important to us. Right now, I feel great about where two of those characters are, and then we're dealing with the other two.' The Paradise Lost HBO Max series was first announced by Gunn and Safran when the first unveiled their vision for DC aka 'Gods and Monsters' in early 2023. Set on Wonder Woman's home planet Themyscira, Gunn billed Paradise Lost as 'Game of Thrones with Westeros but with all the inhabitants of Paradise Island.' No announced scribes yet for Paradise Lost. As of August 2023 on a press tour for the Netflix movie Heart of Stone, Gadot exclaimed 'I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran [co-chairperson and CEO of DC alongside Gunn] and what they told me, and I'm quoting: 'You're in the best hands. We're going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you've got nothing to worry about.' So time will tell.' At the time of her comments, DC told Deadline that Wonder Woman 3 wasn't in the works. After getting her treatment pulled, Jenkins told the press that when it came to the threequel, 'I never walked away. I was open to considering anything asked of me.' Wonder Woman 3 was promptly announced in the wake of the theatrical day-and-date tanking of Wonder Woman 1984, which grossed $170M WW, $47M U.S. when many theaters around the globe were closed. Warners held the movie through the pandemic but decided to go theatrical and on HBO Max at Christmas 2020 as the first title in the Jason Kilar-run WarnerMedia HBO Max dynamic window experiment. The first Wonder Woman in 2017, also directed by Jenkins, was a box office revolution for a movie directed by a female, earning over $822M around the globe. Storm Reid Says This Warm Vanilla Fragrance Is Her Signature Summer Scent

Our series The One Thing is a Sparknotes version of the products, rituals, and moments your favorite celebrities and influencers swear by—their go-tos, must-haves, and can't-live-withouts. So go ahead—take a brief, intimate peek into the lives of your favorites through the things (and people, and moments) they hold time I interview Storm Reid, she's accumulated a new batch of accomplishments for us to discuss. Last year, we excitedly chatted about her taking home a Primetime Emmy Award for her work on The Last of Us and wrapping up her junior year at the University of Southern California. This year, when we hopped on Zoom at the end of May, I couldn't wait to talk to the actress about the latest happenings in her life: graduating from college and becoming a fragrance ambassador for Coach. As a self-proclaimed fragrance girl, the latter achievement is a post-graduation career move that Reid is relishing. "Coach has been a part of my life forever," she tells me. "I remember having Coach shoes and little bags growing up. So when this opportunity came about, it was an easy 'yes.' I love fragrance—one of my favorite compliments is 'You smell good'—so this partnership aligned with me perfectly." Reid's first order of business in her new role? Fronting the campaign for Coach's latest women's fragrance, Coach Gold—a bold scent featuring warm vanilla, almond blossom accord, and fruity notes. Ahead, Reid takes us through her first impressions of Coach Gold, her fragrance wardrobe through the years, and what she's currently working on in Hollywood. "I don't know if they still make it, but the Juicy Couture fragrance in the pink bottle with gold detailing was one of my first perfumes. I'm not even sure if it was bought for me or if I took it from one of my sisters. I also loved going to Bath & Body Works for their body sprays. I've always been a scent girl and have just always wanted to smell good." "Fragrance reflects how I'm feeling or how I want to take up space that day. I used to lean toward scents that were very strong and youthful. Nowadays, I prefer a clean scent and like vanilla notes. That's why I love Coach Gold. It's everything I want in a perfume: not overpowering, but long-lasting and comforting." "When Coach introduced me to the fragrance, I was obsessed. The bottle is beautiful, and it has these warm vanilla notes—it's summery and sexy." "I wore a beautiful gold dress and jacket in the campaign imagery. But if I had to style another look, I'd go with chunky gold jewelry, a crisp white tee, a black skirt with a black and gold belt, and some fire gold heels. And of course, a gold Coach purse." "Aquaphor is a must. I'm a lip gloss girl, and sometimes I'm carrying around like seven lip glosses at once, but sometimes you need a break and just want to moisturize your lips. I also keep hand lotion in my bag—dry hands in the summer are not the vibe." "I've gone through so many feelings—pride and excitement, of course, but I'm also a little terrified. I've felt like an adult for the last couple of years, but now I'm officially in the real world. But I'm taking it one day at a time. After graduation, I went to Vegas with friends and took a trip to Cabo with my mom. I'm soaking in all the good moments." "I'll be in New York in June to launch Coach Gold. It makes so much sense to do the launch there—the fragrance embodies what summer in New York feels like. After that, I'm going on my grad trip to Greece and a few other places in Europe for about two weeks. When I come back, it's time to get back to work." "My mom and I are building out projects through our production company, A Seed & Wings. Some things are moving toward production, which is exciting. I also just found out about another amazing project I'll be working on soon. I can't say much yet, but I'm excited to get back on set. That's where I feel most inspired and re-ignited." The "IMO" podcast host posted the snap of the University of Southern California alum, who celebrates her big day on Tuesday, June 10. "Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can't believe how quickly time has flown. I'm so proud of the woman you've become. Love you always! 💕🥳🎉," the former first lady captioned the photo. The "Becoming" author's post was echoed by separate Instagram birthday wishes from former President Barack Obama, who wrote "Happy birthday, Sasha!" The Obamas are also parents to older daughter and filmmaker Malia Ann, who is 26. Michelle Obama reveals daughter Malia Obama's name change In the "Becoming" on Netflix star's post, Sasha is wedged between her parents as the family of four posed in casual outfits. Michelle Obama daughter Malia changes name Last week, the forthcoming "Look" book author broke her silence on the eldest daughter's decision to drop her last name. Malia Ann, who is pursuing a film career in Hollywood, used her middle name as her artistic name for the credits of the 2023 short film "The Heart" which she wrote and directed. The former first lady spoke publicly about the change during a Wednesday, June 4, appearance on the "Sibling Revelry" podcast cohosted by Oliver and Kate Hudson. "Our daughters (Malia and Sasha) are 25 and 23. They are young adult women, but they definitely went through a period in their teen years where it was the push away. … They're still doing that," Obama told the Hudson siblings, noting that "you guys know this as the children of parents who are known." She added that "it is very important for my kids to feel like they've earned what they are getting in the world, and they don't want people to assume that they don't work hard, that they're just naturally, just handed things," telling the Hudsons and her own brother Craig Robinson that "they're very sensitive to that – they want to be their own people." Obama continued by quipping that "our daughters didn't want to be little princesses in the White House." "They wanted to push the envelope; they needed some rope. They wanted to try some things, they wanted to be out in the world, and I knew that under the circumstances, they needed more rope than I probably would've given them if I were my mom," Obama said.
