Abu Dhabi's Agthia names Salmeen Alameri as CEO
Abu Dhabi-based food and beverage company Agthia Group has appointed Salmeen Alameri as its new CEO.
This follows the resignation of Alan Lesley Smith from his position as CEO, effective from June 2, 2025. Smith will remain as an advisor to the group.
Alameri was vice chairman of the Agthia Group since May 2020. He previously served as the CEO of Silal, an ADQ company focused on diversifying food sources and stimulating the agri-food sector.

Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed lays foundation stone for 30km Metro Blue Line Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, attended the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Dubai Metro Blue Line, marking a milestone in the expansion of the city's public transportation network. UAE midday work ban to begin June 15, Minister inspects Dubai site
UAE businesses will introduce the summer outdoor work ban from Sunday, June 15. Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, UAE Minister of Human Resources and Emiratisation and Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, visited a Dubai construction site ahead of the implementation of the annual Midday Break. Now in its 21st consecutive year, the Midday Break prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight between 12.30pm and 3pm daily until September 15, as part of the UAE's commitment to worker welfare and occupational safety. UAE outdoor work ban During the site inspection, Dr. Al Awar, accompanied by senior officials, reviewed Khansaheb Civil Engineering's initiatives to comply with the summer safety mandate. Chairman Tariq Khansaheb detailed the company's measures, including shaded rest zones, cooling devices, and cold drinking water — all designed to safeguard labourers from the effects of extreme heat. Dr. Al Awar praised the company's commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and highlighted the vital role of the private sector in boosting the UAE's global labour competitiveness. The visit also included representatives from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Aster DM Healthcare, and National Food Product Company (NFPC), who contributed by offering workers medical check-ups, gifts, refreshments, and awareness sessions on heat exhaustion prevention. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) reiterated that employers must provide shaded areas, adequate hydration, first-aid kits, and cooling solutions at job sites during the break. Next Creative Leaders 2025 invites entries from rising female talent
The One Club for Creativity has extended the deadline for its annual Next Creative Leaders competition to Monday, 30 June 2025, giving more time for rising female talent to apply. The free-to-enter initiative celebrates emerging female talent in advertising and design, offering a global platform for visibility, leadership, and long-term career growth. Now in its 10th year in 2025, Next Creative Leaders was developed in partnership with The 3% Movement and remains the only no-cost portfolio competition of its kind. It is open to copywriters, art directors, designers, associate creative directors, content creators, and newly promoted creative and design directors with less than one year in the role. Creative teams who are producing standout work are also encouraged to submit.
