Taylor Swift regains control of her music catalogue
Pop superstar Taylor Swift has purchased the master recordings of her first six albums, giving her control of all of her music after a dispute with her former record label.
Swift's masters had been sold in 2019 and the singer said she was not given the opportunity to buy them at the time.
She re-recorded four of the albums with the subtitle "Taylor's Version."
On Friday, Swift said she had purchased the original recordings from current owner Shamrock Capital.
No financial terms were disclosed.
"I've been bursting into tears of joy at random intervals ever since I found out this is really happening," she said in a statement on her website.
"I really get to say these words: All of the music I've ever made ... now belongs ... to me."
Swift's last rerecording, "1989 (Taylor's Version)," arrived in October 2023, just four months after the release of "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)."
That was the same year Swift claimed the record for the woman with the most No. 1 albums in history.

World's biggest TikTok star leaves US after being detained by ICE
Your web browser is no longer supported. To improve your experience update it here BREAKING Pentagon launches review of AUKUS pact Khaby Lame, the world's most popular TikTok personality with millions of followers, has left the US after being detained by immigration agents in Las Vegas for allegedly overstaying his visa. The Senegalese-Italian influencer, whose legal name is Seringe Khabane Lame, was detained Friday at Harry Reid International Airport but was allowed to leave the country without a deportation order, a spokesperson for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed in a statement. Lame arrived in the US on April 30 and "overstayed the terms of his visa," the ICE spokesperson said. TikTok star Khaby Lame has left the US after he was detained by ICE officers. (Scott Garfitt/Invision/AP) The Associated Press sent a message seeking comment Tuesday to the email address listed on Lame's Instagram account. He has not publicly commented on his detainment. His detainment and voluntary departure from the US comes amid President Donald Trump's escalating crackdown on immigration, including raids in Los Angeles that sparked days of protests against ICE, as the president tests the bounds of his executive authority. A voluntary departure – which was granted to Lame – allows those facing removal from the US to avoid a deportation order on their immigration record, which could prevent them from being allowed back into the US for up to a decade. Lame, who is Senegalese-Italian, has more than 162 million followers on TikTok. (AP) The 25-year-old rose to international fame during the pandemic without ever saying a word in his videos, which would show him reacting to absurdly complicated "life hacks." He has over 162 million followers on TikTok alone. The Senegal-born influencer moved to Italy when he was an infant with his working class parents and has Italian citizenship. His internet fame quickly evolved. He signed a multi-year partnership with designer brand Hugo Boss in 2022. In January, he was appointed as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. Last month, he attended the Met Gala in New York City, days after arriving in the US. immigration TikTok celebrities USA World CONTACT US

Wilson had suffered from dementia and was unable to care for himself after his wife Melinda Wilson died in early 2024, prompting his family to put him under conservatorship. Wilson was the eldest and last surviving of the three musical brothers who formed the US rock band in 1961, alongside their cousin Mike Love and school friend Al Jardine. His band, known for their vocal harmonies, signed with Capitol Records in 1962 and released their first album, Surfin' Safari, that same year. Wilson was born on June 20 1942, and began to play the piano and teach his brothers to sing harmony as a young boy. The Beach Boys started as a neighbourhood act, rehearsing in Wilson's bedroom and in the garage of their house in suburban Hawthorne, California. In the group Wilson played bass while his brother Dennis was the drummer and Carl played lead guitar. Musician Brian Wilson had suffered from dementia in recent years, his family says. (AP PHOTO) Credit: AAP Their debut single, Surfin', became a minor hit on its release in 1961 but was nothing compared with the success that followed from their second studio album, Surfin' USA, released in 1963. The band were managed by the trio's father, Murry Wilson, but by mid-decade he had been displaced and Brian, who had been running the band's recording sessions almost from the start, was in charge. They were inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and received a Lifetime Achievement Grammy Award in 2001. The Beach Boys' biggest hits included California Girls, Surfin' USA and Good Vibrations. Tributes flow for a musical pioneer Mick Fleetwood, drummer and co-founder of band Fleetwood Mac said Wilson had a 'genius magical touch'. 'Anyone with a musical bone in their body must be grateful for Brian Wilson's genius magical touch!!,' he wrote on X. 'Greatly saddened of this major worldly loss!! My thoughts go out to his family and friends.' - with Reuters, PA
